It was getting later and later and Amaya was getting more and more nervous. Terra had given her the evening off so she could lie down. In fact, Amaya was very tired again and lay down on her bed. She even dozed off briefly until a soft knock woke her up. Terra came into her room and quietly closed the door behind her. "Come on we have to go. Get dressed and do my hair." Terra combed her hair herself this time to make it go faster. Outside the sun was almost down and the sky was slowly getting darker. Not long now and it would be pitch black outside. Amaya see you on her lower lip. How best to convince her mistress that she didn't want to go and found her behavior wrong? " I don't think you should go, mistress. Your father will be very angry when he finds out." Terra rolled her eyes. "He won't notice." Amaya wasn't going to give up just yet. "It's very dangerous for a lady to be out and about alone at night." - "I'm not alone." Why did she have to be so stubborn? "Your brother would be disappointed in you." - "All right then, stay here, Amaya. But I'll go now." Terra grabbed her coat and quietly left the room. Amaya took a deep breath and then followed her mistress who was hurrying down the stairs. The light was still on in the library and Terra quickly scurried past the open door. Amaya slowly realized that this wasn't Terra's first time... She quickened her steps, had to pause briefly at the end of the steps. She suddenly became dizzy and her eyes burned so badly that she had to close them briefly. Probably the exertion of the past few weeks. When she felt a little better, Terra just opened the front door and looked around carefully to make sure she hadn't been seen. Her gaze lingered on Amaya and she waved her hand over to her. It wasn't until they left the house and closed the door that Amaya dared to breathe again. The fresh air did her good and the dizziness subsided a bit. "So you're coming with me after all?" Terra was visibly relieved, but tried not to let it show to her. "I can't leave you alone, mistress. It would be far too dangerous and I don't want anything to happen to you. " Terra smiled thoughtfully and then continued to the stable. She came out with a saddled horse and mounted it. "You lead the horse. I'm not a good rider in the dark." Amaya stared at her mistress without a word. Did she really expect her to walk the long way? One look was enough for Amaya to know that her mistress meant it. Reluctantly, she took the reins and went off. The paths to the city were surrounded by dark forests and hills and only the pounding of horses broke the eerie silence. The closer they got to the city, the more people they encountered and the weaker Amaya became. Her strength threatened to desert her and the more so she rejoiced when they finally reached the festival and Terra got off her horse Excitedly she ran into a large tent with a huge crowd circling one person. This stood in the middle and just presented his muscles. Bystanders laughed, fanning each other and Terra forced her way through the crowd to the front row. Amaya kept an eye on her and sat down on one of the benches in the back. Her body was shaking and her feet hurt. She touched her forehead and was startled when she realized how hot it was. Suddenly the many human voices were too loud for her and her head threatened to break. With an effort she forced herself to stay upright, especially since Terra was walking towards her. Behind her she pulled the young, half-naked Roman. ,,That is her. Isn't she beautiful Tristan? She is my slave and the daughter of Festizius." Now she was doing it again. Terra had bragged about her too many times for Amaya to feel embarrassed. The gladiator looked at her with a grin and then tensed his muscles. Terra squeaked and clapped her hands while Amaya looked away. "Give your slave some wine. Maybe then she won't be so stiff and boring anymore." Tristan was visibly offended that Amaya wasn't impressed by him. Terra had wine brought to her and gave Amaya a cup too. "No, thank you Mistress. I don't want to. I do not feel good." "Drink! You're spoiling everyone's mood, sitting around here." Hesitantly, Amaya took a few sips of the wine. Perhaps her pain would lessen a bit. Bellona, a Roman goddess of war, who was supposed to help the gladiators in the next games, was being worshiped The crowd shouted and clapped. Women threw themselves at the men's necks or obtrusively sat on their laps. The events faded before Amaya's eyes and the brightly lit tent grew darker and contracted. Amaya could no longer hold herself and threatened to fall forward. She vaguely saw two feet stop in front of her and felt her shoulders being pushed back. She tried to recognize the person in front of her, but she couldn't place them. Where was she? A Roman soldier leaned down and talked to her. She couldn't understand him. The room suddenly went very still and before she knew it the darkness enveloped her and she let herself fall.
