#67
(MELANIE POV):
I placed the food on the table. Today I decided I would make breakfast for everyone. We have all been through a lot and deserve a big break.
"Wakey wakey everyone!" I exclaimed.
The two brothers got up from bed. What sort of sleep was that? It didn't even look like they were sleeping at all.
I went over to Delanie and shook her . "Come on Delanie, wake up." I said.
"Leave me alone. I'm not done sleeping." Delanie said, covering her face with a pillow.
"I made pancakes." I whispered into her ear and she opened an eye to look at me.
"With maple syrup?" Delanie asked, curious.
"Just the way you like it." I answered.
"Then why didn't you say so?" Delanie asked and jumped off the bed.
She went straight for the pancakes but I blocked her way.
"Uh uh uhhh." I said.
"Ugh! You and your dumb hygiene!" Delanie complained.
I heard Kyle and Denver laughing behind me. I turned to them.
"That includes you two as well." I said to Denver and Kyle.
They both exchanged looks with each other then turned to me.
"You can't make us." Kyle said to me.
"Wait... You two have never... Demons don't..." Delanie said, looking like she was about to puke.
Kyle walked up to her and said, almost in a whisper, "You kissed years of unwashed teeth and mouth." then he took a step and another step backwards from Delanie.
I too felt like i was going to puke but then I remembered something.
Denver had a bath before. How would someone who takes bath serious not brush as well.
"Was that the best you could do Kyle? I know you two brush your teeth." I said.
"Bummer. It looks too late for your sister though." Kyle said and Delanie started to vomit.
"You are really a mean one." I said to Kyle and went to help Delanie clean up.
"Better hurry up and brush those teeth cause those pancakes can and will get cold." I told Delanie.
Delanie did just that as quickly as she could. She hated cold pancakes and luckily for her she was just in time.
...a few minutes later, after we were all done with breakfast...
"So... have any of you figured out how to deal with Maco? I mean, before killing him, as you two want, you still have to get your powers out of him and back to yourself don't you Denver? I asked.
"No. Unfortunately, we still have no clue on how to do that." Denver answered.
"It's not meant to be that easy anyways." Kyle said.
"It's not like Maco could willingly stare at the crystal with Denver." Kyle added.
"This really is a big one. How did he get it in the first place?" Delanie asked.
"Well..." I hesitated to speak.
"Maco had disguised himself as Melanie and that's how he took my powers from me when I thought I was taking mine back from Melanie.
"And you couldn't tell the difference between Melanie and a demon? I thought you were the king among the brothers." Delanie said.
"It's not like Kyle knew either." I said in Denver's defence.
"Kyle had no feelings for you so I don't really expect him to have known the difference." Delanie added. I was starting to get angry but I calmed myself. Delanie just didn't know how to talk to people sometimes. I'm surprised I'm still not used to it.
"Maco was really cunning with his tactic. He made me believe that Kyle was trying to win Melanie's heart over." Denver said.
"And he put the thought of me never finding love, like my brother who already has it all, in my head." Kyle added.
"That way we both had something else in mind while arguing and fighting and didn't notice him. His plan was sure to work and it did." Denver explained.
"I don't think any of you is the best for the throne after hearing that explanation. Think with your brains and not the heart. I'm no royalty but i'm sure that's how a real ruler should behave." Delanie said.
We all heard slow claps from somewhere but couldn't find anybody or where the clap was coming from. We then heard laughter like that of a witch.
"Helen..." Denver whispered.
"Who is Helen?" I asked.
"She is the most wicked of all witches known to exist." Kyle answered.
"What the fuck does she want here then?" Delanie asked.
"How are we supposed to know?" Kyle said.
We all kept looking around and above us as she started to laugh.
"Show your face Helen!" Denver shouted.
"How did you guys even know it's her?" I asked them.
"We can feel it. There is no immortal that doesn't know her. Since she is here, It is obvious there is something that she wants from us." Kyle answered.
"What do we have that could possibly attract a witch?!" Delanie asked.
"You are in the company of two demon princes. Of course there will always be something she wants." Kyle answered.
"I think that's enough of the question and answer sessions." Denver said.
"Why isn't she saying anything?" Denver asked, not expecting an answer.
From nowhere, a woman appeared. She looked quite ordinary and harmless. Not ugly but not a beauty either.
"Is that what you call a witch? Looks too innocent for that title don't you think?" Delanie said.
"Shut up!" I whispered.
"It's better you listen to your sister." Helen said.
"Why are you here?" Denver asked Helen.
"Just a little unplanned visit." Helen answered with a wicked grin on her face.
We all exchanged looks with each other.
"Don't play games with us. Be straight forward and state your business." Kyle said to Helen.
"I never said I came for jokes." Helen replied him, laughing.
"Is this how witches are?" I asked Denver in a whisper.
"Just this one." he whispered back a reply.
"Why are you even laughing? There is nothing funny. Are you making jokes in your head?" Delanie asked and Kyle placed his hand on her lips.
"Be quiet. Do you know she can actually harm you? Demons can not interfere in a witch's affair. That's the rule." Kyle said to Delanie
He removed his hand from her lips and this time she didn't say a word.
"I'm here with a deal for you all." Helen said.
"We are not interested." Kyle said.
Helen looked at Denver. Denver seemed to agree with Kyle's answer to Helen.
"It's a one in a life time opportunity. If you don't grab it now then you will loose it forever." Helen said.
I don't know why but I really wanted to hear her out and felt it was important.
"Can we just hear her out at least?" I asked Denver.
"No!" Kyle yelled.
"Truths revealed by witches are very depressing ones. It's better not to make any deals in return for a secret. It will scar you for life." Denver stated.
"Who said truths are meant to be sweet to the ears?" Helen said and laughed.
