Chapter 58 Reborn: My Love Is Gone

Love, they never say, can be the only thing that can kill an immortal, a God, a goddess, and even the world.
Love is a force of it's own, one to be reckoned with. Love is like the curse of a dying God, and the sweet voice of the devil.
Love is like a nuclear weapon, it can bring fear, peace, it can build and it can destroy. Why is it so much? Why?
I used to say "if love will kill me, I forbid love" but It was clear to me that one day, I would have to give it all up for love, but the question remains, what kind of love would that be? I would bet my life that it doesn't exist.
What did hell feel like? Clearly wouldn't smell like burning herbs, clearly wouldn't feel like "a new life, a new chance…" I felt my lips moving slowly and my tongue slipping out those words.
Sound was the next thing; peace. Just peace. Why? My eyelids started slipping away and my eyes shuttered as light pierced through my eye balls, the visions that passed through were blurry and scary, so much so it felt out of this world.
I could feel my legs and hands, and once I felt my hands, I brought it close to me windling my fingers.
It was strange and I had to force my eyes open constantly with no much luck until a strange voice rushed into my ears and I responded with a jolt up.
    "Who are you?"
He smiled, genuinely happy to see me. "Don't worry about that for now, you need to rest…"
"Rest? What do you mean? …" I questioned "Am I not dead?"
He chuckled, took a gulp that moved his sexy Adam's apple. "Fortunately you're not"
"Then where are we?" I was beginning to get aware of my environment, except that I didn't really know where we were and how I got there, so my inquisitivity was excusable.
"Where are we?" I asked again, getting uncomfortable.
"Hey, easy, you have to res—"
"Who the heck are you?!" I asked, standing up from the bed. That was when I realized that I had been naked. I grew furious and had the burning desire to take him out.
"What did you do to me?" I asked in a danger tasty voice, almost like a growl.
He took some steps back until he couldn't anymore, because there was a wall behind him.
His two hands were raised, with his lips parting to make a speech. "I can explain…" how and why I thought I could get to him, I didn't know, because he was rather a six foot tall hunk.
"Well, start explaining stranger…" I stressed the word "stranger" to remind him of his position and how quick I would be in disposing him off.
"I saved your life…." He stated, but restrained because he was lying, and I could hear his heart beat.
"I mean, I added to the help. You were already dead when I found you, and I brought you here, took care of you until well, now you're fine…" he smiled nervously.
     "Already dead?"
     "Yeah. You don't remember?"
"I hope to remember yours" I replied abruptly, taking a step closer to him.
He chuckled nervously, "hahaha that's real funny, maybe you should cover yourself or something…"
    "Yeah? …"
    He nodded his head repeatedly.
    "You know what's funny though?"
    "What?"
"You look like you're afraid, but you're not. So I'll ask one more time, who are you?"
His facial expression changed, and he smiled. "You're getting real good"
"Who are you?!" I asked again, with no tints of mercy in the sound of my voice.
     "My name's Swinston…"
"Why are you here Swinston, what's your mission? And why did you save me?"
"You figured it out…" he said with a smile.
"I know a soldier when I see one… and if I was dead, what did you do to me? Why am I alive now?"
"I did nothing. I just kept your body and took care of you"
"Hmm…" he was telling the truth. I thought I could hold something against him. "I don't want to believe you, but I do"
"Yes, because I'm telling the truth…"
I backed off, and he opened a closet, retrieving some clothes for me.
    "You have a wife?"
    "No" he replied abruptly.
"Who are all those clothes for?"
     "For you, of course"
I took it from him and smelled it first. It felt alright to take it from him. If I was dead, I needed to see and feel the outside world.
I opened the door to meet another interior, like a sitting room, what seemed to be a abandoned warehouse, a relatively large one.
      "So, this is your home?"
He followed me closely behind. "Not really. I'm not from here, the stay is only temporary"
     "Temporary? What do you mean?"
"Because I'm not from here" he said with a shrug.
"It's strange… I don't feel any pain, even from the bullets" I walked toward the door and opened it. I was immediately greeted by a wave of cold.
"Holy shit! Why's it snowing in August?!" I literally yelled, surprised, it was unbelievable. I closed the door, looked at Swinston, "What's going on? Where are we? Why's it snowing on August? It's never happened before."
"You think? You have been out for 4 months…"
It was like a metal clank to my head, a distinctive noise in my ear with a piercing sensation.
"Wh- what? 4-4 months?!" I stammered.
    "Four months, Camila, four months"
"How do you know my name?"
"You ask too much questions" he replied, sitting down on a chair. It was so much for me to take in.
"It's a very good idea to start answering my questions, Swinston. What more do you know about me?"
"Quite a lot. He said with a smile…" he motioned to a seat behind me. "You might want to settle down"
"Oh trust me I don't. I have been dead for four months!" I stressed the last four words, taking to my breathing.
    "Only because you chose to"
    "Why? What does that mean?"
"It's simple. Because you wanted to stay dead"
"Why did I wanted to stay dead?"
He chuckled. Stared at me with the look “are you serious?!”
"Yeah, I know that look, but I don't know. So riddle me, come on" I demanded.
"Why did you go to the club if you didn't want to die? You knew that they would eventually have to kill you. You were pained, it was so much for you to handle—"
"You know nothing about my pain"
"I don't. But believe me, I Know what it feels like to be abandoned and rejected, and—"
"I was never abandoned or rejected!" I defended.
He stood up and bridged the gap between us. "Then where's Logan?"
The sound of his name ached my heart, it failed me, it was painful and brought a sense of loss.
      "Damn right…"
"Logan…" I stammered. My knee was weakened, and I had to take a sit. "How do you know him?"
"Because he sent me to take care of you"
    "What?!"
"Yeah, he said I should look after you…"
"Until he's back!?" I asked with excitement in my heart. For the first time in a year, I was really happy to hear that he still thought about me and cared, but still, it was strange. Why would he send someone over?
He slowly shook his head. "I'm sorry, Camilla"
"It's okay? I can forgive him for living me for one year, I mean I could try…" I said with a chuckle.
"You're not going to like what I'm going to say now, but you need to know the Truth, all of it…"
    "Yeah?" He sparked my curiosity.
"You need to get rid of him"
I went mute for a while, then burst out in laughter. "Excuse me?! Get rid of him? Like? Why do you say that? Are you okay? He is my one true love, the only man I ever felt real connection with—"
    "Well, not anymore…"
His words offended me, and there was only one way I responded to annoyance… anger!
"Look, Swinston, don't get on my last nerve. If he trusted you with me, then you're really someone he likes, why are you talking against him?"
He raised his voice. "Because he's gone! And he's never coming back! Ever! This is his goodbye"
