Chapter 60 Martina Is Kidnapped

“You are not going to talk to me? What do you want me to do, Vincenzo?” Martina asked after she stepped out of the car and approached Vincenzo. Vincenzo heaved a loud sigh and turned to look at her, while Bruno stared at them, looking very confused and lost. “Martina, I don’t want you to do anything apart from staying away from this house and sitting peacefully in the car. This is a dangerous place, and you shouldn’t be out here,” He said, and she rolled her eyes. “I am very aware this is a dangerous place, you don’t have to remind me, Vincenzo. I stepped out of the car because I believe we both need to talk,” She said, and Vincenzo looked at Bruno, he saw he was lost staring at the both of them.
“Hey… I thought you said you wanted to pee. What are you still waiting for?” Vincenzo asked, widening his eyes as he looked at Bruno. “Oh… true! I almost forgot. I’ll pee now and come back as soon as possible,” Bruno responded and briskly walked away. Vincenzo exhaled and turned to look at Martina again. “There is nothing to talk about, Martina. We talk about this yesterday, right?” He asked, and she nodded. “ Yes, there is something to talk about. I’m sorry I kissed you last night. I shouldn’t have done that,” She said, and Vincenzo swallowed hard. “I understand, Martina. You don’t have to be sorry about it. You told me why you did it.” He looked away and folded his arms on his chest.
“I’m… I just don’t want you to hate me, okay? I never knew you were in love with me until you told me. I wouldn’t have known if you didn’t tell me.” “Martina, my feelings don’t matter. What matters is what you and the boss feels. I’m happy for the both of you,” He responded, still trying not to look at her face. ‘How do I tell him I don’t feel anything for Roberto? He would ask questions, and I’m not ready to answer any questions. What do I do?’ She reminisced as she stared at him. “So you want to stay away, treat me like an enemy?” She asked again, and he looked at her. “I’m not treating you like the enemy because you are not an enemy to me. I’m just trying to guard my feelings for you. I don’t want any more problems, okay? I love the way things are now. They are better and peaceful,” He uttered.
Martina bounced and lowered her head as she spoke, “I guess I’ll have to stay away now. I understand you, Vincenzo, and I’m sorry this isn’t going the way you thought it would go. I promise not to disturb you anymore.” She turned her back on him and walked away. Vincenzo kept mute and watched her leave. He felt his heart scatter into pieces after she finished talking. He was truly hurt, but he couldn’t show it. He was too hurt to look at her, so kept his face straight and waited for the hear the car door open and close.
Martina walked to the other side of the car and when she was about to step into the car, she took a pause. She pulled out the phone Roberto had given her from the pockets of the pants she wore. She looked at Vincenzo and saw he wasn’t looking back, his face was glued to the house in front of him. She heaved a sigh and looked at the screen of the phone. A bad idea popped into her head all of a sudden. She clenched her jaw, thinking about what she wanted to do again. She had thought of contacting Alberto at that moment, but she was scared. She was scared Roberto could find out, and kill her or even kill Alberto. ‘He trusted me and that is why he gave me.’ She thought, throwing the phone into her pocket again.
‘But isn’t that what you have always wanted? That he grows soft for you so that you can finally get back at him for all the pains he caused you? Why are you so reluctant now?’ She thought to herself. She wasn’t sure if it was the right time to get back at him. ‘I need to be more careful. I can’t put my life in danger after all I’ve done to stay alive, and I can’t fall in love with him! No, Martina! You can’t! He hurt you and your sister! He isn’t worth your love!’ She yelled in her head, closing her eyes tight. She rested her back on the body of the car and threw her backward.
Soon, she began to feel a great urge to pee. She opened her eyes and turned to look at Vincenzo who stood at the other side of the car. “I need to pee,” She uttered, and Vincenzo turned his head and looked at her above his shoulder. “Do you have to go now? Can’t you hold it for more minutes? We should be out of here soon,” He said, and she shook her head. “No. I can’t hold it anymore. Plus, the inside of the house is dangerous, not the street. I’ll look for somewhere close by to do it, okay? I’ll be fine.” She started walking away before Vincenzo could respond. ‘Should I go with her?’ He thought, and quickly shook his head. ‘I can’t go with her to pee. I believe she will be fine.’ He looked away and kept waiting for Roberto to come out.
Martina finished peeing in a bush not very far from Adelina’s house. From where she was, she could see Vincenzo, Bruno, and the cars. She stamped her feet on the ground so that she could get rid of the remaining urine that was in her private place. She had no tissue, so she had to improvise. When she was satisfied, she pulled up her pants, and unknown to her, her phone slid out of her pocket. She began to walk out of the bush, heading back to where the cars were parked, when all of a sudden, she heard a screeching noise very close to her. She turned back to check what made that sound, and what she saw was a black van, very close to her. Her eyes widened and before she could do anything, someone from inside the car opened the door and grabbed her by the arm.
“What…!” She tried to scream but he covered her mouth with his palm. He closed the door and they drove away. She looked at where Roberto’s cars were parked, and she saw Vincenzo and Bruno running towards them. They shot the car that captured her car severally but, the car didn’t stop moving. “F**k! Get into the car!” Vincenzo yelled at Bruno as they both retreated to where the cars were parked. Martina kept struggling, she tried looking at the faces of those in the car, but she couldn’t see anything because they had masks on.
“Help me!” She screamed. Still struggling with the man that grabbed her, another man that sat next to her covered her head with a black cloth. Her hands were tied very tight with a rope that she felt her skin was going to peel off. She wanted to scream again when she felt something restrict her breathing. She began to feel dizzy and tired. Before she knew it, her head fell backward. She fell unconscious.
