Chapter 64 Surrender

Martina and Roberto walked out of the ship and headed to the car. On the body of the car were holes made by the bullets that hit it. Roberto’s eyes widened when he remembered he had kept Adelina in the car and didn’t leave anyone to check up on her. As they approached, he stared into the car from the windscreen and didn’t see her at all.
‘Was she shot? Did they get to her too? Did she escape? How the f**k did I forget about her?’ Roberto reminisced. He pulled Martina with him as he hurried to the car. He headed for the back door and opened it. He saw Adelina laying on the seat, her eyes were closed, and she seemed to be asleep.
“Adelina,” He called, and she slowly moved her head. “God, you are something else,” Roberto shook his head. He wondered how a person would be so comfortable, to the extent of sleeping, in such a situation. Adelina slowly opened her sleepy eyes and looked at Roberto. “What? I didn’t sleep well last night, okay? I was busy putting your money together.” She pouted.
Martina furrowed her brows in confusion as she watched them speak. Adelina’s gaze fell on Martina and a smile crept up her face. “Martina, right?” She asked, and Martina looked at Roberto and slowly nodded. “Who is she? And how does she know me?” She muttered, and he let out a sigh. “I’ll explain everything when we get home. Now, we need to take care of your swollen face. F**k those assholes.” He raised her head and looked at the red swollen part of her face. It was the part where she was smacked.
Martina nodded slowly and took one last look at Adelina before getting into the front seat of the car. Adelina smiled widely and kept her eyes on Martina. ‘So she stole his heart. Why wouldn’t she? She looks so beautiful and hot,’ She thought to herself. Roberto was about to get into the driver’s seat when Bruno stopped him. “I can drive, boss,” He said with a slight bow. “You don’t have to. I want to drive. Get into one of the cars and let’s move,” Roberto answered him and hopped into the car.
They drove out of the seaport and hit the highway in no time. Adelina who wanted to start up a conversation moved closer to Martina’s seat from behind and started talking. “If Roberto refuses to introduce me, then I’ll do it myself. I’m Adelina, Roberto’s mother.” Martina’s eyes popped wide open, and she looked at Roberto. “I still haven’t accepted you as my mother, for now, you are just Adelina, okay?” Roberto answered, looking at her from the interior mirror.
“I… I thought she was dead,” Martina mumbled to Roberto, and he exhaled, taking a glance at her. “I thought the same thing until I got to her mansion and started hearing things I’ve never heard before. She proved it to me, but I can’t just trust anyone.” He looked at the road and concentrated on his driving. “You should trust me, Roberto. If I am not who I claim to be, why didn’t I escape when you all left to rescue Martina? I had every chance to run, but I didn’t. Why? Because I’m your mother, and I don’t want to be away from you anymore,” She said.
They all went silent for minutes, and Roberto looked at the back seat through the interior mirror again. He said Adelina gazing at him with a grin on her face. He shook his head and looked away. “She is beautiful. No wonder you love her so much,” Adelina uttered, and corners of Martina’s mouth widened in a hearty smile.
“Can’t you stay silent for a minute?” Roberto asked in anger. “I did that already! I went silver for about five minutes according to my watch.” She raised her left hand and stretched it forward. Martina chuckled and looked at her. She was beginning to love her because she was funny and cute. Roberto kept a frown on, and when Martina noticed this, she moved her hand to his thighs and caressed it slowly. He looked at her, and the contagious smile she had on made him smile too.
“Lighten up, Roberto. She can do is no harm,” She said, and he heaved a sigh. “She already does me so much harm by talking too much,” He responded, and Martina chuckled. “She is a nice woman. I can’t wait to hear the story,” She smiled and looked at Adelina, who couldn’t stop grinning. Roberto looked at Martina, and before he could look at the road again, three police cars were fast approaching. He looked up, and when he saw them, he tried to reverse, but his other car was behind him. He adjusted his wing mirror and looked back. He saw that the police was at the back of his cars too.
“What do we do boss?” Roberto’s men asked him, and he kept mute trying to think.
The FBI stepped out of the cars and pointed their guns at Roberto’s cars. “Step out of the car now! Your hands behind your head!” One of them said, using a megaphone. Martina looked at Roberto fearfully. She wondered what he was going to do next. Roberto raised one of his hand and threw the other under the seat. Martina looked up and saw Alberto standing next to the cops.
“Alberto?” His name fell out of her mouth unconsciously. Roberto pulled out one of his machine guns and said, “It’s better we fight back, once we are caught, that is the end.” Before he could raise his gun, Martina held his hand. She was scared Alberto was going to get killed. “Don’t fight back, Roberto.” Her voice was shaky and full of fear.
“They will kill me immediately I step my feet in their custody,” He said, and she shook her head. “No, I’ll get you out at all cost,” Martina responded. “Roberto, do as she says. I have people of great status and position in the police. We’ll help you out,”‘Adelina added. Roberto heaved a sigh, staring at the both of them. He wasn’t sure if he could trust their plan. “If you fight back, we all will definitely get killed. They are more than us and are more armed. Give in, and I promise to get you out,” Adelina uttered, and Martina nodded in agreement.
Roberto dropped the gun that was in his hand, “Surrender,” He said, and he stepped out of the car. “What?!” His men answered, but when they saw him step out, they did the same thing. Martina and Adelina also stepped out and raised their hands. “Martina!” Alberto called and ran to where she stood. He wanted to embrace her but she moved away from him.
“I told you I would bring him to justice myself. Why couldn’t you trust me?” She muttered with gritted teeth to him.
