Chapter 32 ~ XXXI ~

SELENE
"Do you really have to go today? Can't you stay for 2 more days, and just let us spend more time as a family?" My mum asked, and grabbed my hands in a soft hold.
I smiled softly at her and shook my head, "I would love to, and you know that, but I can't. There's a lot of things to figure out, and I can't waste any more time." I explained and my mum sighed heavily, "I'll come back when I have this all sorted, and I'll spend a lot of time with you guys" I promised and glanced at my dad who hasn't said a single word since I and Drystan came down with our luggage.
"Dad?" I called and he forced a smile on his face, "I'll come back, okay? I'm still your daughter, okay? Nothing is chasing me away from this pack, at least not anymore"
"I know, princess," he said and walked closer to me, "but I just feel it's our fault that you're leaving so soon, isn't it?" He asked and I immediately shook my head.
"Not at all, dad! It's not your fault" I turned to mum and shook my head as well, "neither is it your fault, mum. It's just life throwing stones at us, that's all" I said and pulled the both of them into a hug, "I love you both"
"We love you too, darling," my mum said and I smiled widely.
We lingered in each other's embrace till Drystan cleared his throat and we broke apart, and turned to him, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we have to get going or we'll miss our flight" he said and I nodded my head
"Alright," I said to him and turned back to my parents and beamed, "I'll see you all soon" I reassured them and pulled them into a hug again.
"Come here, son" I heard my dad say to Drystan and his eyes widened a bit, and Drystan pointed to himself, "yes, you! Come here, it's a family hug" he insisted and Drystan ran into the hug.
We all stayed in each other's embrace for a while before we slowly broke apart, "we'll take you, kids, to the airport" my mum offered and Drystan and I nodded in appreciation, "good, let's go" she said and we all walked out of the house into the car that was already waiting for us outside.
The ride to the airport was swift, and we arrived faster than we thought we would. Drystan and I immediately did all the necessary checks and in a few minutes, the intercom buzzed with the announcement for our flight.
We hugged each other again and mum wished us a safe trip, "I love you!" I heard my parents yell and I turned to them and blew them a kiss.
I hastened my steps and hurried into the plane, before I would break down into tears, leaving my parents was hard the first time and it still is. Drystan helped me locate our seats afterwards and in no time we were seated at our designated seats, "I'm going to miss them so much" I cried out the moment we both were seated.
Drystan didn't say a word and just placed my head on his shoulders and patted them softly, I exhaled loudly and relaxed my head properly on his shoulders "wake me up when we get to Canada" I requested, and without waiting for a response, I closed my eyes to sleep.
I hadn't been sleeping a lot the past few days, so I thought I wouldn't sleep much and would probably wake up halfway into the journey, but I was shocked when Drystan woke me up to tell me we were in Mooncrest pack.
"Wait what? Already?" I exclaimed as I shot up from the place I was laying, the force made me hit my head against the roof of the car and pain shot through my head immediately, "Ow!"
"Careful there," Drystan said from the door, and softly massaged the spot I hit, "And just so you know, the journey wasn't fast, you just slept through it. I'm surprised you could sleep that long tho, you know, considering the fact you've rarely been sleeping these days" he noted.
"Yeah, me too" I agreed, "But at the end of the day, it's a good thing" I quickly added and he nodded his head in agreement
"Yes it's a good thing," he said and stopped massaging my head, "all done now, let's go and meet Derrick so we can go back home" my breath hitched momentarily when he said home, and I bit my tongue to keep me from saying anything. It felt oddly calming to me when he said home, I didn't realize I'd subconsciously accepted that place as my home until he pointed it out.
He helped me out of the car, and closed it when I was out, "let's go" he said and dragged me along.
A smile tugged on my lips when I looked at our joined hands, 2 months back we couldn't really stand each other and now we are holding hands. I tightened my grip on him and smiled even wider at the thought, "this feels good" I whispered to myself.
"What did you say?" Drystan asked and I immediately shook my head.
"Nothing important, I was just wondering why you call Alpha Derrick by his name without attaching his title"
"Well, growing up together is one of the reasons" he replied and I raised an eyebrow at him.
"One of? So there are lots of reasons?"
"Just two"
"What's the other one?" I persisted and he patted his head and glanced at me.
"I'll tell you one day, maybe when I tell you the wolf's boy story," he said with a lopsided smile, and before I could get another word in, he cut me off by knocking on the door.
I huffed and walked ahead of him when I heard Derrick's familiar voice say '"Come in"
"Good day, Alpha Derrick" I greeted the moment I walked in and he stood up from his seat.
"Annha, welcome back" he responded with a smile, then turned to Drystan and acknowledged him by nodding, and Drystan did the same, "please take a seat, both of you," he said and sat back down on his chair
I thanked him and sat on one of the chairs, and Drystan followed, "So, I hope everyone at home is okay? Nothing major happened Right?" He asked and I smiled pleasantly with a nod.
"Yes Alpha, nothing major happened. My parents just wanted to see me and did that by raising an unnecessary alarm" I lied and I felt Drystan's gaze on me immediately, but I failed to acknowledge it.
I didn't trust Derrick enough to tell the truth, and I don't know why, and until I figure out everything that's happening out, I plan on keeping it hidden especially from him.
His laughter snapped me out of my thoughts and I chuckled alongside him, "parents can be overdramatic, yeah?" He asked amidst laughs and I bobbed my head.
"They got me all worried for nothing!" I said and he cackled a bit more.
"In that case, I'm glad everything is okay!" He said when his laughter died down, "you both can go home and rest up, our pack needs their head trainers back at work! And I need my beta ready for my marriage! So go home and get enough rest" he ordered playfully, and my eyes widened!
"You're getting married already?" Drystan bellowed before I could get a word out and Derrick nodded.
"Yes! Forgotten so soon? 29th of November is 2 weeks and a half away"
"Wow!" I breathed out and their eyes turned to me, "wow! I'm so happy for you! Congratulations!" I gushed out and he smiled brightly at me.
"Congrats dude!" Drystan said and shook hands with him.
"Thank you both! I'm glad you all are happy, especially you, Selene" he whispered the last part, and avoided my gaze as he said it!
"Please, don't embarrass me! Why won't I be happy? I have Drystan" I bragged and winked at Drystan, who shook his head at me, "anyway, we have to get going now. Extend my regards to Amelia! Drystan and I will be up and doing by tomorrow" I said and stood.
He bobbed his head and stood up alongside Drystan, "alright then, I'll see you both later"
Drystan and I bared our necks slightly before we turned on our heels and walked out of the office. We both didn't say a word to each other as we walked out of the packhouse and into our car.
"You're okay, right?" Drystan grabbed my hand and asked as soon as we both got settled in the car.
"Why won't I be?" I asked as I turned to look at him, "I wasn't lying back there in his office, I'm okay. I've got you" I stated and he smiled at me.
"For as long as you want" he whispered and drove out.
The rest of the ride was comfortably silent, and I heaved a breath of relief once he pulled into our home, "can't wait to crash, but I'd love one to eat pancakes first" I mumbled and glanced at him slyly.
"Well, I'd love to make that for you but there's something I have to do now" he politely declined and I started sulking.
"That's okay" I moaned and stepped out of the car, I was about to head into the house but he jumped down from the car and jogged toward me.
"I'll pick you up by 6 pm, be ready then. It's a date and I'll make those pancakes for you then" he said and before I could get a word out, he ran back to the car and drove off, leaving me transfixed on the spot.
