Chapter 39 ~ XXXVIII ~

Third person's POV (Drystan's voice)
The young boy snapped his eyes open and was nearly blinded by the rays of the sun, he grunted and shielded his eyes with his hand and slowly sat up from the ground he lay on.
"Where am I?" He rasped out and looked around his surrounding with a frown on his face, his heartbeat raised an octave and he immediately shuffled to his feet when he realized he wasn't in the forest he grew accustomed to, this was a very different and unfamiliar forest "Mum!" He yelled and looked around in hopes that he will see his mum, but there was no one insight
"Dad!" He yelled but still got no response. He let out a shaky breath and grabbed a handful of his hair and tugged on it, "where am I?"
"You're safe, don't worry," An unfamiliar voice said in his head, and he yelped and began looking around for the owner of the voice but he still saw no one.
"Who..." He started and gulped as he kept looking around, "who is there? Show yourself right now" He ordered in a voice he thought was firm, but in reality, he sounded like the child he was.
"I can't show myself unless you shift, I'm in your head" the voice clarified and the boy immediately stood straighter.
"Damien?" He called out to his wolf with a smile on his face, "what happened to your voice tho? You sound different" he noted.
"This isn't Damien," the voice said and the young boy's eyes widened, "I am Favian, one of your wolves" he introduced and the boy nearly tripped over his feet.
"One of? Wolves?" He blurted out and scoffed, "Damien you've got to stop playing! We are lost right now and I don't have the time for jokes"
"I don't think Damien is coming back anytime soon," another voice said in his head and he nearly passed out from the shock, "I am Erasmus, another one of your wolves"
"And I'm Agner"
" Lukianos"
"And I am Kazmer"
The different voices and different names flooded his mind, and he let out a shaky breath and in just a second he passed out, again.
A few minutes later, he slowly opened his eyes and once was again close to getting blind because of the sun's rays. He closed his eyes and used his hands to shield them from the rays as he slowly sat up from the leafy ground of the forest.
He looked around and sighed when he realized he was in the forest he dreamt about, "I guess it was just a dream" he mumbled and stood up from where he sat, then dusted his shorts, "I'll go find Mama and Papa" he said to himself and was about to walk off,
But he paused when he realized he didn't know the route to take, "Your left, that's where we came from" Favian said and the boy's heart stilled in fear.
He stood rooted to the spot and looked around with wide eyes when he heard the voice, there was no way he could still hear the voices from his dreams, "it's not a dream, we are part of you. We are your wolves and we are simply here to guide you" Favian explained and he shook his head.
"That's... That's a lie, A werewolf can only have one wolf! Not five!"
"You're special, and when the time comes, we'll explain everything to you. But for now, you have to go back to where you came from"
The boy took a deep breath and nodded, he didn't believe a word from the voice in his head but he knew had no option but to comply to their orders, "I don't know where I came from" he mumbled, and looked around the huge forest that looked like it has no way out.
"Your left, we came from your left" Favian repeated, and he glanced to his left.
He didn't want to believe him, his mind wanted to go in the other direction and that might have been the best option, but he defied all his doubts and took off sprinting to his left.
He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, and as a werewolf, his speed and strength could take him as far as he wants. He heeded to all of Favian's guides, taking all the turns and cuts he dished out till he got to the place he vaguely remembered and paused.
"I think this is where Mama, Papa, and I were" he mumbled, "but they are not here" he noted as he looked around but couldn't find a trace of his parents.
"But they are," Favian said, this time his voice came out low and deadly, sending chills up the spine of the young boy
"Where?" He choked out and a series of growls erupted in his head, and he immediately closed his ear in an attempt to silence them but he couldn't silence the voices in his head.
"You do not need to see those people, just stand here and wait!" Lukianos spat out and the boy shook his head rapidly.
"I want to see my parents, so tell me where they are!" He insisted and they were about to protest, but the moment Kazmer let out a low growl, they all went quiet.
"Your parents are 15 feet away from where you're standing," Kazmer said and the boy felt dizzy, Kazmer had a powerful aura that the others don't have and the boy could feel it, "go on boy" he encouraged and the young boy bobbed his head.
He counted each step he took and once he got to 15, he paused and looked up in search of his parents but the view before him forced a scream out of his little mouth. "No! No! Mum! Dad!" He chanted as he slumped on his knees and tears rolled down his face as he stared at the butchered corpse of his parents.
Slashes of a wolf's claws were largely imprinted on their chest, and the bites of a wolf were all over their body, they looked drained of blood yet there was no drop of it on the ground. It was the work of a wolf and at that moment he swore to hunt down whatever wolf did that to his parents, that was until he heard Kazmer.
"They deserved it, so do not cry for them," Kazmer said and his eyes widened.
"My parents didn't deserve this! You asshole!" He yelled and a series of sobs left his lips, "they..." He hiccuped and wiped his eyes, "they didn't deserve this" he repeated in a whisper as he stared at them with tears streaming down his face.
"Oh! But they did!" Kazmer interrupted and he balled his fists, "and if given the chance, I'll do it all over again" he sneered and time instantly slowed down for the young boy, his vision went blank for a second as he comprehended what he just heard.
"You! You did this?!" He growled and the rumble in his voice silenced the forest.
"And I'll do it all over again" Kazmer growled out, "and if you knew what they were up... What are you doing?" Kazmer panicked when he heard the boy muttering a spell
"Ego te hinc a me vinclis odii nexibus adstrictum cogo numquam redire" the boy chanted
"Stop that, stop that!" Kazmer yelled but his voice faded into the abyss, the same way he did.
The young boy slumped to the ground after that, he didn't know what had happened, or how he got where he was, because the next time he opened his eyes, he wasn't blinded by the sun's rays, he instead woke up to faces of people he had never seen before. People that ended up becoming his family.
PRESENT MOMENT (DRYSTAN'S POV)
Tears already welled up in Selene's eyes by the time I was done telling the story, "that was so sad! Did he ever get to know why Kazmer killed his parents?" She asked and I shook my head.
"Oh God! That's so painful" she breathed out and wiped her eyes, "why am I crying, it's not a true-life story anyway" she mumbled and my grip tightened on her. She immediately looked up at me with a frown,
"is it?" She asked skeptically and I slowly nodded my head, her mouth dropped open in shock and tears once again pooled in her eyes, "I can't believe this!" She whispered and shook her head, "and everyone in this pack knows the story and its legitimacy?" I once again nodded.
"Does everyone know who the boy might be?" She asked and I took a sharp intake of breath and stiffly nodded, her eyes widened and she scooted closer to me, "Who is it?" She whispered like a child and that made a small smile tug at the corner of my lips.
"It's me"
