Chapter 43 ~ XLII ~

Selene:
I watched Drystan walk out of the packhouse, the moment he was gone, I turned on my heels and ran home through the backdoor. I don't know why I had lied to him that I wanted to meet up with Clarissa, or the reason I didn't want him to drop me off.
But none of that mattered to me anymore, I just wanted to get home and digress the information I got last night. I didn't get a wink of sleep last night, I spent the entirety of the night tossing around in my bed till daybreak. I should be relieved with the information I got regarding who the moon goddess's beloved was, but the information made me more apprehensive than I was earlier.
I barged into the house the moment I got home, and I immediately ran up to my room. I went to my drawer, quickly brought out the book, and opened it up to the passage about the moon goddess's beloved. I don't know what I was expecting, but when I opened the passage and it still contained the info it had earlier, a sigh left my lips and I couldn't tell if it was a sigh of relief or not.
"Drystan" I mumbled as my fingers hovered over the drawing of the five-wolved, "you are the man I was born to serve" I breathed out and snapped the book shut. I didn't know why the information had me all nervous when I should in fact be glad I wouldn't have to leave the man I love to save myself.
"Maybe it's because you are scared of disappointing him" the voice I had longed to hear for ages, said in my ear and I felt a pang in my chest, "I've missed you Selene" she whispered and tears welled up in my eyes.
"Elia... Eliana!" I stuttered, "is that you?" I asked and as soon she hummed in response, I broke down into tears, "I've missed you, I've missed you so so much. Thank you" I hiccupped and paused, "thank you so much for coming back to me. Thank you!" I chanted but she said nothing in response to me, I could feel how happy she was but beneath that, I could sense uneasiness and sadness.
"What's wrong, Eliana?" I asked amidst tears but I got no response, my heartbeat threatened to burst open from my chest when a thought popped into my mind, "you are not leaving again are you?" I blurted out and I felt her drawback in my head, and my heart broke into a million pieces, "but why? Why do you have to leave? I finally know who I am, what I'm meant to do, and all that, so why do you have to leave?" I cried out.
"That's because we come as one Selene, one doesn't move without the other. You have to accept all of you so that I can stay" she explained softly and I shook my head.
"But you've been with me for as long as I could remember and nothing happened, why can't it be the same now?"
"I was tasked with being with you till you are of age, that's why I was here for so long. But I can't anymore unless you accept us all"
"Then why are you here now? If you can't come without the others, why are you here now?"
"Because..." She paused momentarily, "because I missed you so much and I demanded I be allowed to talk to you, you have after all unraveled half of the mystery," she said and tears rolled down my cheek, "I have to go now" she mumbled and I began shaking my head rapidly, maybe that would get her to stay, she would realize how much I can do this without her and stay, but her next words reminded me that there was nothing I could do. "Trust a little bit more in the moon goddess, Selene, she'll make everything work out for you. I have to go now, Elphaba's here" she whispered, and just like the first time, I felt a gut-wrenching pain at the loss of my wolf.
Only after the pain had subsided did I turn to look at Elphaba, who has been seated on the edge of the bed, watching me roll in my pain without saying a word, "Do you feel better now?" She asked the moment I turned to her.
I stared at her without making any attempt to answer her question, so she sighed and scooted closer to me, "I am proud of you, Selene" she mumbled and patted my hair gently, "Super proud of you for getting in-depth with who you are"
I tried to force a smile on my face, but I couldn't move a single muscle in my face, so I kept staring at her blankly, "It's now time for the next part of this journey" she said and I gently wiped the tears in my eyes.
"Next stage? I didn't know they were stages" I mumbled and she breathed out a laugh.
"There are, young one. And this stage is all about you accepting who you truly are, and realizing the truths you need to set the beloved's mind on" she explained and I bobbed my head.
"I understand, Elphaba, but I have a question" she raised her brows and urged me to go on, "why is he the beloved and I, the forgotten one?"I asked and she burst into laughter.
I watched her laugh till she couldn't no more and a smile tugged on the corner of her lips, "those are the names that people came up with on their own, there's no distinction in the moon goddess's eyes between you two. She loves you both equally and one can't exist without the other" she explained tenderly and that managed to put a smile on my face.
"I have to go now, but just know that this stage comes with lots of things you don't expect. You'll get to know things you wish you never did, go through pain as you try to accept who you are, and the most important part of this last stage is to let Drystan know all about this without killing him" my eyes widened at the last sentence, but the moment I opened my mouth to protest,
I was cut off by the door being opened loudly and Drystan yelling my name, I immediately sprung up from my bed and without glancing at Elphaba,l ran downstairs, "what happened? Are you okay?" I asked frantically while looking at him for any sign of injury or bruise but I saw none, "what is it?" I exclaimed and looked outside to make sure no one was chasing him, and there was no one.
"Kaz..." He panted and I walked closer to him and held his arm,
"Calm down, take a deep breath and calm down. Please" I urged him and he nodded his head as he tried his best to do as I said but in a moment I saw his face morph into a pained expression, and he groaned, "what's wrong? What's happening?"
But I got no response, and I just watched with wide eyes as he kept grunting in pain, and beads of sweat rolled down his face, "what's happening Drys...?" I didn't get to complete my sentence before I was interrupted by a murderous growl, that I'd never heard before and I flinched in fear.
"Hello Hybrid" an unfamiliar voice greeted and I was overcome instantly by dizziness, "I'm Kazmer"
