Chapter 24 Strange flames
Violet POV.
I couldn't stop it. The heart wrenching pain that dwelled in my heart the moment Jake slid into Felicia. The mate bond was really doing its job as the pain clenched my heart making me shed unstoppable tears. It is a thing in the werewolf realm, that once your mate sleeps with another, you'd feel unimaginable hurt and pain, not physically, but emotionally.
What was I even thinking when I wanted to work things out between us? What was that expectation and hope I felt when Jake kissed me back there?. The results of my selfishness are echoing round the whole house in the name of Felicia screams.
I honestly don't know what even hurt more. The fact that I'm hearing Felicia's moans, or the mate bond that was suffocating me. Either way, I'm so done with Jake. Done with hoping for anything, done with this shitty marriage.
I picked up little of my stuffs, like my phone, car keys and the likes, and ran out of the house.
It was pretty late, not a single soul to be seen on the quiet road as I sped. I wondered where I should go in this frenzy and emotional state of mine. I was really scared I'd do something drastic that'll leave people around me in mourning for years to come. I couldn't visit Kimberly. Heard josh was still around. Things will be uncomfortable. I couldn't visit my mum either, she'll probably tell Jake's dad and we'll end up in his office the next day. I'm sure Jake will hate me for that. Not that I care though.
I drove without thinking, and when I looked around, I realized I didn't even know where I was again. I was surrounded by thick bushes, and the only cleared path was the road made for cars to pass. This seemed like a suitable place for a run. I came down and inhaled the fresh air that came from the leaves. You could tell there was no civilization that could pollute the air with how isolated this place was.
Ever since the marriage I could feel my wolf becoming more alive. The mate bond affected her greatly that she hasn't come out even till now.
"Hey" I called out to her. I didn't need to voice it out, just focus and then I tell her what I wanted her to know.
"What do you need this time?" She asked cockily. I think she was trying to cheer me up. It was working though.
"Wanna go for a run?"
"Anything for you princess" she replied and I immediately turned into my wolf form. I would love to explain the features of my wolf but right now, I need to feel the cold wind splashing on my fur.
I ran and ran, with all the speed I could muster. I kept on running aimlessly with no direction in mind. Then suddenly my wolf came to a halt.
This place. I remember this place. This was where I last saw Emily. I stood at the edge of the cliff as I looked down. After I fainted that day, I had no recollection of what had happened. The only pieces I could gather was Jake blaming me for Emily's disappearance, while everyone else says I did nothing wrong. Their alibi being her parents disappeared the same day she did.
Just then, I could see something. An orange light dancing deep down there. It seemed like flames. Fire. Seeing how deep and dark down there was, I was almost sure no living thing would be living down there, including animals. But there was a flame giving light to that pitch darkness down there. That was definitely suspicious.
I changed into my human form as I used nearby leaves to cover my naked self. "Anyone there," I yelled. "Hey!!"
Seems like the person heard me as the fire was immediately quenched. That confirmed my suspicion. It was definitely fire. The wind did its job and spread the smoke everywhere. It was a huge fire, seeing how thick the smoke was.
"Finally you're alone" I turned back immediately and saw a man standing there with his back facing me.
"Who are you?!" I asked as I covered my body a bit more protectively.
"Here" he threw a jacket to me and I wore it immediately.
"Kendrick?!" I was surprised to see he was the one when the man turned.
"I've been waiting for you" He said as he got closer.
"You could have just reached out to me if you wanted to see me. Besides it's already two weeks since we last met and I have news for you." I said while trying to remove the strands of my hair from my face. The wind this night was especially strong.
"I know everything already, nothing is news to me."
"What do you mean?" I was greatly confused. Unless he has been following me, there was no way he'd know everything. And him following me, is definitely creepy.
"You got married to Jake almost immediately after we met, went to your honey moon in Maldives, know the prophecy, and now you're out here because your mate is sleeping with another woman and you're greatly hurt." I moved back a little in shock when I heard what he said. A smile curved his lips when he saw my action.
"How did you know all that?" I stuttered. He knew even the slightest details such as what Jake was doing with Felicia in that godforsaken room. I was slightly embarrassed knowing that he knew my reason for coming out here. He'll think I was crying over a boy.
"Don't worry, I don't think that way. I'm not that narrow minded."
"Do you read minds now?"
"Nope. Your expression says it all." He answered before walking ahead of me.
"Your mum told you the prophecy right?"
"Yes. I know everything now. How wicked her mother was, I'm still in shock about what my mother has been through."
"Surely she told you the prophecy, but did she tell you everything?."
"Everything like?"
