Tingling Feelings

Chapter 39
Elina stare at her face in the mirror, she was wearing a contact lens.
Ezra left her with a promise to come take her for treatment in the hospital. She touched the lines around her eyes with her fingertips. She wouldn't get to use glasses any more. She would be free at least.
She smiled and sighed though she had no idea why she felt so sad.
“What I’m gonna wear for the date?” She twirled and moved away from the mirror.
“It’s not your date miss. It’s for the master and his fiancé. You’re dressing like the rest of us.” Sambas hissed.
“In pantsuit?” She scoffed.
“Yes,” Sambas replied, eating a pie.
“That’s absurd.” She folded her hand and a finger at her jaw.
Why would Kenzo make her a bodyguard in the first place he should have let her be and stayed behind.
“Isn’t everything absurd to you?” He asked with his mouth filled.
“I can’t wear that.” She nodded after concluding her thoughts.
There’s no way she would.
“What were you gonna wear, sexy gown, makeup? Huh? Come of it, Elina. You get to do that when you’re going on your date.” Sambas snapped a finger in front of her face.
Elina hissed and strode to the bed, she sat down.
“Does that mean, I've gotten a job already and the one I got is the job of a bodyguard? I’m a bodyguard of Kenzo. That’s absurd.” She stated in disbelief.
“It doesn’t make sense at all.”
Sambas shook his head at her.
“You protected him once, that was your CV for the job, girl.” He clunk his tongue and shoved the remaining piece of the pie in his mouth.
“Isn’t that much better? What other job were you thinking of?”
“Assisting Buka. I mean he’s the only one doing it, I'm good with serving...” The last word was quite inaudible and she lowered her gaze avoiding Samba's look, remembering the mess she made that got her locked up.
Sambas chuckled.
“Very good with serving.” He said in a mocking tone.
“That’s the one I’ve been doing.” She murmured.
“You didn’t complain to Ezra earlier thought you said you were willing to go?” He raised a brow at her.
Elina twitched her lips at him.
“Maybe he has his reasons why he asked you to come. I don’t know, he might give you the job of assisting Buka because of how delicate you’re. He doesn’t want you to get hurt.”
Elina laughed and clapped her hands, he doesn’t want her to get hurt? That was bullshit.
Sambas rolled his eyes at her behavior.
“So there’s a reason why he’s asking me to come with you guys?”
“Seems like it.”
“How about you ask him what I’m gonna wear? What if we’re going on another mission like the first one?” She pointed out.
“I don’t know.” Sambas shrugged.
“Tsk, you’re such a waste, I can never get any info from you. Go, just go. Dropped the pie and get out.”
“Are you mad?” He was about to take another pie from the plate but halted in his movement with his hand hanging midair.
“You’re a waste. Go away. I need to rest.”
She lay on the bed and shut her eyes.
“I need a swap, Aziel would have been better and sure if you stay a day beside the monster he would have your head as dinner.” “Did you just call him a monster?” Sambas dropped his hand and chuckled.
“Yeah.” She opened her eyes and stared at him.
“That’s his name.”
“You’ve guts you know. You should be lucky it’s just us in here.”
A faint knock came on the door. Sambas turned his head down to the door.
“Ms. Elina the master seeks your presence now in the living room.”
“Go away I’m taking a nap!” She shouted at the intruder.
“She’s coming,” Sambas interjected with a glare at Elina.
“Get up, he’s calling you.” He snarled.
Elina cringe at how angry he looked and as if he wasn’t the Sambas who was joking with her earlier.
“Everyone needs a breathing space. Even if it’s just a few seconds.”
“Up now!” He growled.
“You should be on my side.” She grumbled and lift herself from the bed.
“I’m on your side that’s why I’m telling you to get up now. C’mon, let’s go.”
“I’m tired. I need a fresh bath.” She smells herself.
“Let’s go El.”
“Fine.”
“Let’s go see the monster Kenzo.” She hissed and jumped up from the bed.
She walked to the door and opened and disappeared out.
Sambas followed behind her.
They got downstairs and saw Kenzo waiting with Aziel with his hands crossed at his back.
“You know the rules, Sam.” He stood in front of them. Elina gulped down, the look on his face wasn’t that good. He gave them a murderous look.
Sambas bow.
“I’m sorry, Boss.”
And pah!
He slapped him.
A cold shiver ran down Elina’s spine.
She cowered behind Sambas, her legs starting to shake at Kenzo's terrifying demeanor.
Sambas was getting hurt because of her.
He pulled him close with his hand on his collar and slapped him again, on the same spot.
A slap from Kenzo could send you straight to hell and fight invisible battles you didn’t know existed.
It was all her fault he was getting hurt.
Kenzo hit him again, Samba's lips broke and his face was bruised.
She couldn’t let him do this anymore.
She step in front of Sambas though she was shivering and went on her knees. She clapped her hands together and started to plead.
“Hurt me instead, leave Sambas out of it.” She begged. “It was all me. He did nothing wrong, please let him go.”
Sambas was shocked and stared at her.
She bows at Kenzo's feet.
“Elina.” He called quietly with his voice shaky with emotions.
“It was my fault he delayed. I was the one who should punish not him.”
“Fine, stand up and receive the last one,” Kenzo replied nonchalantly.
“The last...one.” Her voice quavers.
He was gonna slap her, she stood up and shut her eyes waiting for the slap it hasn’t come yet.
She was already trembling.
Kenzo raise his hand and let them touch her cheeks, his thump caresses them tenderly and let them rest on her face for a while.
His lingering touch sent a sweet sensation over her, his hand on her face, she slowly blinked her eyes and saw Kenzo staring at her with those dark eyes.
He stepped closer to her and closed the distance between them. He lift her chin with a finger and made her stare intently into his eyes.
He withdrew his hands immediately and quickly got a hold of himself.
He cleared his throat and stuffed them in his pocket and returned to his seat.
‘What the Fuck was that Kenzo!’ He thought to himself.
‘Get a hold of yourself, man.’ He groaned.
Elina placed a hand on her cheek which was now empty of Kenzo’s hand.
Her heart skipped a bit, what was wrong with her heart now?
She took her lips in and took her eyes off Kenzo.
“Are you okay Sam?”
He stared at her, his eyes were clouded with emotions Elina couldn’t decipher and without replying to her, walked away from their midst.
“Talking about bad manners.” Elina hissed after him.
Why didn’t she step in sooner? He wouldn’t have been hurt that much.
She made her way to the empty seat and sat down.
Aziel at her with his mouth slightly opened and tried to communicate with her through signs that she shouldn’t sit when Kenzo didn’t ask her to.
Elina could not understand what he meant and gave him a blank look.
Kenzo looked at her and a smile tugged at his lips. She was someone else, and always find a way to make him think of her.
Now, he did not if this would b so shameless of him to ask her for help again.
He needed her, she was the only one who could help him at this time. He had set a date for her with Chief Brennon.
He needed to find some truth about his past.
He can’t believe he was using Elina for this.
He promised himself he was not going to let her get hurt.
He had everything set already all he needed was to send a picture of Elina to him and he would run over to the date.
An easy prey but very dangerous.
“I heard I will be your bodyguard to the date. Just a...”
“You don’t speak without being told to,” Aziel warned her.
She swallowed her words and kept her hand idly at her side.
“Good day, Mr. Kenzo.” A middle-aged woman came in and bowed in front of them.
“You called me.”
“Sit.” She sat uncomfortably close to Elina.
‘Well anyone in her state would be just as scared as she was.’ Elina thought to herself.
“Make my girl look pretty.” He ordered.
Elina felt her cheek flushed.
“Yes sir.” She bows almost falling from her seat.
“Good.”
“Take her away...” He gestured to Elina.
She stood up and dragged the luggage she brought with her. She stood in front of Elina.
“Let’s go, ma’am.”
“Me?” She pointed at herself.
“Follow her Elina.” Kenzo point to the woman.
“Get out of my sight.”
“Yes sir.” Elina faked an accent with a smirk.
Kenzo bite down a chuckle and looked away.
He watched her leave with the woman.
“How old is she?”He asked.
“Sir?”
“You heard me.”
“Sorry, Sir. Nineteen or twenty, Sir.” Aziel answered.
“You should stick to her tonight if there would be any cause of alarm and Ben too. She shouldn’t get hurt not in anywhere.”
“What about you, Boss? Sambas and Ben could take care of her.” Aziel stared at him trying to read his expression.
“I’ll be in the next room listening to her conversation. Don’t worry about me, Elina is more important.” He muttered staring ahead of him in the direction that Elina and the woman took.
“Protect Elina tonight at all costs.”
“Yes, Boss.”
“Seems you warmed up to her boss.” Aziel grinned.
“No!” He quickly too quickly made Aziel laugh shortly.
“Get out if you have nothing else to say.”
“Sorry, Boss.”
“Go.” Kenzo waves him off. Aziel stood up quietly and left.
Kenzo touched his lips with a small smile. He imagined what kissing Elina would feel like, how would her lips feel against his?
He need to snap out of it but Elina seem to be the only thing he could think of at the moment.
“Elina.” He called her name and smiled.
“She’s pretty.” He laughed and stood up from the chair and caught Aziel spying on him.
The smile faded out of his face immediately.
“That was...I wasn’t...actually.” He tried to explain and smacked his lips together.
“I didn’t see anything, Boss.” He smiled.
“Come here, Aziel.”
“You said I should get out.” Aziel point behind him.
“Come, now.”
