Chapter 35 Second Death

The morning sun penetrated through the heavy curtains into the room, touching every absorbent object within, which created triangles and circles of ray of light.
The door opened, having one of the black men inside, who activated an alarm clock to set off at that very moment, and I was jolted up by its humiliating screams.
The man let a line of smile spread through his cheeks "Good morning sunshine. I believe you had one of the best nights of your life"
I rubbed my eyes, looking over at Brody as my brain was reminded of what last night brought to us, and what it did to Brody.
"Yeah…" I said, holding back "for me, yeah of course"
He smiled again, and took some steps across the room to one of the windows, pulling the curtains apart to invite the full presence of the sun. "Very good. Now, we must get to business immediately"
Hearing him say that made me remember that we didn't come to have fun, but business, a business which we knew no details of, perhaps, we would know all about it that morning, and my gut had to hold on to a string of information; we weren't going to be able to get out of it, they owned us.
He walked to the door, and turned around, facing me "five minutes, Arianne. We are waiting for you…" he paused and looked at Brody, and a look of slight pity ran evidently across his face "and please, bring your friend with you, we are waiting. Five minutes Arianne, Five" he walked out and shut the door.
I wondered why he sounded so serious, did he really have to remind me more than thrice that we had five minutes to get down, Geez.
I laid back down on the bed, stretching my arms and legs, with my eyes closed. And after a moment, it felt like a button was pressed on my brain, I pushed myself up, eyes wide opened and fixed at the wall clock, "damn it! Five minutes"
1.5 minutes had already gone, and I wasn't even putting on my clothes.
The room was pretty much infected by the wearies of the last night's fuck. I only had my pants on, and the two beds, especially Brody's, were a mess, completely.
I immediately reached for my trouser and pulled my legs inside, zipping it up anyhow, and took a long sleeve top from the closet nearby, the clock was still ticking. I rushed over to Brody, tapping and shaking his body, while I tried to get ready up, in such a heist "Brody!, Brody??" I hit him repeatedly, and he murmured some sounds, "hey get up already, damnit!" He flickered his eyes open, scanning through the room with his eyes.
"Damn it Brody! We need to meet these men…" I looked over at the clock, already feeling the heat of it all, with my heart beat rate escalating "2 minutes more , 2 minutes more…" I was done with myself, although I looked crazy, I didn't mind. I had to take Brody with me, and it meant dragging him along, if possible, dragging his body down the stairs because he wasn't going to wake fully anytime soon.
I jumped on the bed to drag him out, I turned him over and saw that the bedsheet was stained, I looked at his boxer shorts "Well, Congratulations Brody, you just had your first ever period, I hope it will be the last! Those girls really used you" I dragged him out from the bed, he didn't even weigh a lot, Poor Brody. Still, he was still being hanged on the roofs of a bad night's sleep.
I immediately fixed him up with a shirt and shorts, and took him on my shoulders out of the room, and headed down to the parlour.
Coming down from the staircase to the parlour, my eyes met five able bodied men all in black, including our host, I guessed. They had gears like mercenaries.
They circled a big glass table, which had papers on top of it, it was more like street routes and building plans.
They looked at me and at the miserable human I was supporting with my shoulder, he was still drowsy, and very weak.
I felt embarrassed, and immediately let Brody slip away from my keep, with a light thud on the ground; as light as his weight. He winced in pain, "oops sorry sorry…" I bent down to help Brody up while trying to steer away from their attacking gazes.
My eyes came upon a jar of water at the table, I took it, leaving the men wondering what a show we were putting up, I poured it all on Brody who was rejuvenated, gasping for air, eyes wide open, looking around the room "welcome back." I helped him up, and heads were being shaken in disapproval, chuckles and clicking of tongue, the host seemed to know that we were that bad, he had no problem with it, but it seemed like they needed us for a specific role, and no Brodyer how inexperienced and useless we proved to be, we were still important, very much.
"We leave in 2 hours time, you two will stay in the van that will be sending the goods, no Brodyer what happens, do not come out. Do you understand?" Much has been said at the big glass table, but it was all hovering around my ears, I wasn't getting a thing. But, I dare not show that I didn't understand, it would make me look more stupid than i needed to look.
I had so many questions to ask, and the ones I wished they would answer by virtue of their explanations.
I and Brody nodded our heads in acquiescence, while my mind ran around the skep of assumption. What was the business all about? What are the goods?
I thought if it was illegal, then we wouldn't be going in broad daylight. That was what made me a bit calm with the whole shit.
