Chapter 41 Forget About Yesterday
Silence was observed for a moment, then, I was going to say something, when Lorie pulled her away from my arms "That's not gonna happen"
She picked up her bag, and dragged her along to the bar. Arianne squirmed "Oh Lorie! You're hurting me!" Lorie picked up her own bag from the bar top, hurrying away.
"Shut it Arianne! You're making a mess of yourself. Take it easy, you won't. I'm taking you home now". And I watched them with their drama, out of the bar, closing the door behind them.
I opened my trousers, and looked at my dick "Well, another night will come homie, we have better things to do with our life and …" erected, it quivered "and Energy." I sighed, and lumped back on the chair, letting it hug me into it.

"Morning sunshine" Lorie greeted as she walked past me over to the bar, smiling graciously like never before. She was never late to work, it was as if she was clinged to it like life itself.
Well, she was twenty nine years old and had been working at Cranes since she was nineteen years old, so she had been working at the same place for a decade, and counting; obviously, she didn't look like she would be quitting soon.
I wondered why she was happier, not like she wasn't always happy, but she seemed different, and weird, she looked like she had worked overnight, and at the same time, had enjoyed herself overnight; weird enough, very weird.
"Looks like someone hit the jackpot today" I exclaimed, she looked at me and smiled "haha, somethings are better than Jackpot…"
I brushed in before she could finish landing "Somethings like what?"
She waved her eyes around the air, as if looking for a better word to compensate her sentence with "Somethings, that lasts longer than money"
She dropped her bag at her corner. And brought out some new glass cups under the bar top, and started stacking them on the cup shelves.
I stopped cleaning and held the piece of cloth I was using to clean the tables in my hand, reasoning what she had just said; but is there anything so sweet that lasts longer than money? Because I knew, every sweet thing doesn't last long, except for money, if, and only if the money is a big amount, big enough. "Nah, I couldn't find anything that could last longer than money."
"Don't worry hun, is not yours to find out" I was puzzled "Huh? Does that even make sense? …" I started repeating the words she had said, trying to make sense of it; stupid and crazy me.
After a moment, I felt like I had gotten the answer "I know! I know!" She didn't stop what she was doing, but gave me her listening ears, laughing under her nose "Really?"
"Yeah!"
"Then I would love to know!"
I smirked "You got laid"
She turned around, thundering out a comporting laughter " Geez! Really?! Of all the things you could think or even say?! You're crazy hun, you're crazy" I shrugged, and went back to my duty "Hmm what better thing was I supposed to think or say? Isn't it one of the most important things to human beings? Money, shelter, clothing—"
"And Sex?" She completed the sentence. "Isn't it?"
"Well, you're not wrong. But, have you seen me with any man before? Or flirting with one like intimately…"
I turned around, slowly, digesting her lie "Have I seen you with a man? Or flirting with one like intimately?—"
"I mean—"
"Sis…" I chuckled "More than a thousand times"
"That's just for the tips obviously…"
"Now that's money. Money drives women, sex drives men, do you know all those men want to get in-between your legs?
"Really? Money drives women? Says who?" She looked at me with a mean face, when it came to it during our arguments, I knew better not to provoke or annoy her; not like she could fight me though, and would remove myself from her shooting line, "Definitely not me…" I cleared my throat, going back to my duty, while she took on the podium, the chair lady.
"That shit ain't true, seriously. If so, then why do all those women give you money? And their call cards? Isn't it to get laid? It is not about gender, it is collective and depends on the human involved…" I was going to calm her down, or tell her that she should forget about it, but it wasn't necessary and wouldn't yield results, instead it will yield consequences, she won't stop talking about it.
"And listen, dickhead, let me—" the door was opened and a man and who seemed like his girlfriend came inside, seeing Lorie's mouth shut; thanks goodness!
"Welcome to Cranes!" I greeted them with a cheerful smile, and went to take their orders.
I went back to the bar, I needed to ask Lorie some questions, but she was making faces, I would normally leave her, but I needed to know about yesterday night, though it was still cloudy.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" I asked, leaning against the bar.
"Mmm"
"What happened yesterday to me?" I said, looking at her.
"What do you mean?"
"I think you took me home…"
"Oh did I?"
I was silent for a while, then replied. "Yeah… I guess. Only it wasn't home, you went through the back door and brought me back… and went home with that guy…" I chuckled, that's right, that guy.
Lorie pretended that she didn't know what I was talking about, but she couldn't keep her mouth shut about me getting … "yeah? Did you also remember how drunk you got and I had to clean up your mess?"
That was the end of the conversation.
It's been almost three hours since we had the argument in the morning. And since then, we haven't talked to each other, which was so hard to keep up with. I couldn't stay without talking to her, and she couldn't stay without talking to me either, we were just punishing ourselves for no reason.
The atmosphere was calm as well, and the guests were all having nice times at their respective tables. Even when they finished, they stayed back to relax, listen to the music, or the tv or play games, there was a snooker, pool and more.
Me and Lorie had been eyeing each other, and would remove our gaze when the other looked our way.
I was slowly and peacefully sipping my tequila. I had bought a few bottles with my money, and would always go to the bar top to mingle with my drink. "I didn't mean to call you dickhead, I—"
"Wait, seriously—"
"Yes, I didn't mean to, I was—"
I brushed in again, trying to figure something out."I mean, is that seriously why you had been keeping mute on me? Acting like I was your enemy or worst?"
"Is that why you did?" She remarked. I had no answer to that, we both had been doing it to each other, but I never took it that she did something wrong to me.
"Hmm, weird" we both looked at each other for a while, and the next thing that followed… "Damn it Lorie! You're a great actor" we laughed, at ourselves, getting a few guest's attention, and lowered our laughter.
"You too hun!" She remarked, touching me on the hair, fondly.
I reached for a glass cup near me and filled it up with my drink, handing it over to hers and in one shot, "Cheers" we raised our glasses, clanked lightly and poured it all into our mouths.
"That was great!" I said, excitedly.
We had our resolve, and a moment later, Dave Forte showed up. And I caught Lorie smiling at him. I never minded, probably. They had become good friends, since she took him home last night when he was drunk.
"Hey, Dave"
"Hey Lorie" Dave grabbed a seat and sat near me. A bit of a line of embarrassment drawing across his face as he finished greeting Lorie and turning over to me "I must have been a jerk and a total mess last night"
"Oh…" I exclaimed, calming down my voice to make him not feel so bad "not at all, not at all" I think I was the one that was a total mess, haha.
She smiled "Really?"
I nodded my head and poured some tequila into a glass cup. "Do you care?"
"Yes of course. Thanks" he took it, taking a quick sip, followed by a yummied face
"Guess you must be going through some deep shit" I looked at him, taking a sip from my glass.
He coughed "Yeah. Most definitely"
I knew I had changed the mood, but I was interested to know what was up, since Lorie had talked about it as well.
I approached with style, not making it obvious that I was curious
"There's a saying…" I sat right, cleared my throat, and freed the glass of tequila from my grasp. "A problem shared, is a problem half solved" he looked at me with a serious and regrettable face. Lorie was still there, looking at us, and minding her business.
"Not necessarily true, but whatever…" he was going to share the problem after all! I had my ears ready to listen and my mind ready to reason
"After just two weeks of getting married, she divorced me…" he grabbed the tequila and poured more drink into his glass cup, finishing it all with one gulp, still yet, taking another shot. I was speechless.
And even terrified, and even more guilt ridden… was I really the cause of the broken marriage? Did I have God's curse upon me? Because when they were joined together, the pastor rebuked "... let no man put asunder… " it hit me, I had sex with him on their matrimonial bed.Download Novelah App
