Chapter 20_ Siblings meet
Silence!, Silence filled the car making it seem so awkward for Alyssa. She turned to look at him, but his eyes were completely trying hard not to meet hers.
Alex blamed himself yet again for acting so stupid, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. He couldn't possibly be falling in love, as that would be an impossible thing.
"We're here," Alyssa Interrupted his thoughts by tapping his arms lightly. Alex turned to look at her, coming back to his senses in seconds.
He nodded and found himself smiling without his permission. "Alright, let's go"
Alyssa turned to leave the car, wondering why he was being so quiet. To her, it seemed like she did love the loud Alexander Civella much better.
The door opened, and Alex walked out of the car adjusting his cloth properly while his eyes went around the surroundings of the huge building.
"You picked a place like this?" Alex questioned, a bit disappointed with her taste.
"Yeah, what's so wrong about places like this?"
"Huh? You kidding me?"
Her soft mood immediately changed, as thou she felt a bit embarrassed with herself.
"Don't you like it? We can go somewhere else if you want" Her voice sounded like she was disappointed in herself.
"I didn't think you would love places with too much attention or where people gather a lot. I thought you loved quiet places and..."
"Alright, fine. It's fine." Alexander finally surrendered to her speech and shook his head in disbelief.
"What a lady!" He mused and started towards her.
Alyssa let out a small smirk on the left side of her lips, feeling fulfilled for a job well done.
"Come on, are you ready?" She asked, but Alex totally ignored her and started towards the entrance.
"Wait up, I'm right behind you"
At the other end of the restaurant, Alexander's eyes roamed round the far end with Alyssa behind him.
"Over there, let's have our seat over there," Alyssa said pointing towards the left side, a bit far from where Alexander's eyes roamed.
His eyes lightened up when he saw her, the lady he never wished to set eyes on since his mother's death.
His body began shaking, starting from his hands and then his eyes. It was obvious her presence brought bad memories. Memories that made him the monster he decided to be.
Alyssa moved closer to him and only when she held his shoulders did he return to normal.
"Did you see something? Mr. Alex" Alyssa called and asked trying to trace the spot his eyes were on.
" Do you know them?" She asked again taking a look at the ladies who were seated at the far end where his eyes were.
Alex found it useless to reply to her questions. When his mind and body came back to normal, he turned and closed his eyes for a bit trying to forget the face he saw just now.
Lauren turned back, her eyes instantly met with the body of the man backing Alyssa, and then met with that of Alyssa.
"What is it, did you see something?" Celina asked also turning to look in the direction Lauren's eyes roamed.
" Let's leave, we'll find somewhere else but not here," Alex said and began walking towards the exit, while Alyssa followed dying to hear an explanation for his sudden behavior and change in mood.
Immediately Alexander exited the door, Lauren stood from where she was seated, "Wait here Celina, I'll go check on something real quick and come back" she said and followed Alyssa behind.
Alyssa ran up to him and held him back, "Why are you like this? What the hell did up see in there, or who was she to you?" Her questions were forthcoming making Alexander a bit annoyed as she asked him more questions he wasn't willing to answer.
"Let go, let go of my hands" Alexander retorted, his eyes had turned completely red and swollen with anger. Alyssa wasn't seeing the man she followed in there, but rather the person who stood with her was another man entirely, and it was like he was going to destroy everything, every single thing at that moment or kill anyone who gets on his nerves.
"You can talk to me" Alyssa replied. She wasn't willing to let him be or let him carry such a burden alone. "Pour it all out by talking to me okay"
Alexander clenched his fist in anger, trying to subside the anger surging through his everybody, his blood, his brain. He could hurt her right now, but his body was stopping him from doing so, and moreover, she was right. He needed someone to talk to and end his misery.
Lauren stood behind them, listening to their every conversation, her eyes had become teary a few seconds ago as she watched him. He had every reason to hate her to his bones and she wouldn't blame him for doing that.
She started towards them, her legs withdrew their steps at first, but then she continued walking again. "Alexander" Her voice was soft, but loud enough when she called his name.
Alexander froze at his spot when he heard his name, as thou his heart had completely stopped beating.
Alyssa turned to look at Lauren who called his name. Her eyes turned again to look at the expression on his face, his hands and feet were completely frozen at a spot as they stopped moving.
His mother crying that day on her death bed, the horrible footsteps he heard that night, the scary voices he heard, his screams when he was being taken away and calling for his mom_ they all came rushing back to him with speed. Everything felt like a dream to Alex, those horrible memories came back rushing into his head with force.
"Stay back, stay back please" Alexander yelled. The veins on his forehead were visible making him look scary.
Alyssa walked up to him and held his hands to calm him down a bit. "She's gone, just look at me okay. She's gone" She said, hoping Alex would open up his eyes and look at her.
With his eyes still closed, Alex withdrew his hands from hers and turned back immediately to find Lauren gone.
He heaved, looked at Alyssa, and started towards the car. A surprised Alyssa followed him and when they both got into the car, his voice completely turned back to normal and Alyssa saw this as an excuse for him not to look weak in front of her.
"Head back to the mansion, we're done for today," Alexander said and took out his phone to distract himself from thinking further.Download Novelah App
