Chapter four in the book of marriage
Nur switched on her phone only to see that it was already past 2am. "Mairah, let's pray then we will sleep, I have a lot to do tomorrow and you will also be busy tomorrow." Nur said as she stood up from the bed. "Nur." Humairah whispered as she also stood up and looked up to meet her sister's eyes which was at least 4 inches higher than hers. "Iwon't push you, tell me everything at your own pace and comfort. Ipromise I won't judge you, you will always be my role model." With that, she hugged her keeping her tears at bay unknowingly mirroring her sister's actions. "Thanks Mairah, even role models make mistakes, you should learn from mine." She stated, patting her sister's head. They let each other go and proceeded to pray and sleep. ************* "Hello," "Yes, you should be here in 30 minutes, I don't want to be late again." "We are heading to FHY in gwarimpa." "Good." Hamza dropped his phone on the dining table where his mother and his sister, Khadeejah were already seated eating their sandwiches. " Good morning Mum." He said as he bowed a little, but before the mother could reply Khadeejah interrupted. "Good morning Yaaya, don't forget to tell Nur oooo" She cautioned. "Dee, you won't even allow me to talk." Their mothwr remarked shaking her head at a smiling Dee. "My dear, good morning, hope you slept well, you know sleep is important for good health." "Yes Momma, I know and Dee, if I see her I'll give your message. Now let's eat quickly and take you to school." and with that he took his seat and downed his sandwiches and coffee, then bade his mother goodbye. His secretary was right on time and they took Khadeejah to school then proceeded to FHY. ★★★★★★ Nur skipped out of the house, her teacup In her hand and her shoe In the other, she was late as always. She had barely managed to wake up for fajr and immediately after it, she slept off on her prayer mat. She only woke up when her mother was screaming threats and banging their door. Upon waking up, she barely registered the sleeping figure of Humairah who was still undisturbed by the noise when she saw the time,9:10 am. She rubbed her eyes thinking it was her sleepy mind that was messing with her and when she looked again, it was now 9:11am. "Ya Allah" she exclaimed as she ran to open the door for her Mum, she said her greetings to her scowling mother as fast as she could and ran to wake Humairah who was peacefully sleeping. "Mairah, Mairah." She called as she continuously tapped her. When she finally stirred, Nur screamed "We are are totally late." And ran to the toilet banging the door behind her. Humairah kept mumbling nonsense until her mother knocked her and graciously announced the time to her which made her mimic her sister's behavior. Now it was 9:40 and Nur was just leaving the house. She had a meeting in FHY by 10'0clock and there was a tour by 2pm, she hated being late. Thank Allah her house wasn't too far away from Gwarimpa. As Nur finally reached FHY, the parking lot was fully packed with cars. "Hhhhhh" She sighed. She quickly got out of her car and walked at a very fast pace to the conference room. "Bismillah and Assalaamu Alaikum" She whispered as she opened the door to the room. In the room, they were 24 people seated including including Lilly and William, people were more interested in helping the kids than the youth. Well its a bit understandable, the youths have dashed a lot of hopes on them by refusing to work hard and looking for illegal but easy way to money but no matter what, there will always be the good eggs no matter how many bad eggs are there and who knows, the good ones might influence the bad ones or at the very least stop the bad ones from influencing others. "Assalaamu Alaikum and good morning to you all, I don't have any excuse for making you wait but I hope you will pardon me, I will make sure it will never happens again Inshaa Allah." Nur apologized as she stood at the head of the conference table. " It's okay, we all have our moments, though we will appreciate a non-repeat." An older man said and the rest chuckled nodding their head. Nur chuckled too and mouthed a Thank you, then she took her seat. Lilly quickly passed her the agenda for the meeting and she read. " The first thing on our agenda today is introduction of the new investors, they are 2 new faces today in our midst and I'll like us to recognize them. It takes a pure and generous heart to invest in something that has no gain just for the sake of helping humanity, everyday I come here, I feel overwhelmed knowing I'm surrounded by such pure and generous people who do not care about the fame just the welfare of the needy, so when I heard some personalities volunteered to be part of this good cause, you bet nothing could Quantify my joy. Allow me to introduce you to Mr Hamza Suleiman, who is a pilot working in emirates airlines and he is also a businessman well known in the exportation of raw materials and importation of electronics and ICT gadgets. There is also Mrs Victoria Ayo, the owner of vikx rice, I'm sure we are familiar with that. The reason we take our time to know their source of income is due to our agreement to stay away form dirty money." As Nur finished the introduction, she gestured towards them and Mrs Victoria Ayo, a petite woman in a white suit, her hairdo was just a normal ponytail braiding with attachment, she got up and introduced herself stating how happy she is to be part of this good cause. Mr Hamza Suleiman also got up after her. He was wearing a black caftan getzner material and a white cap. He looked sleek, sophisticated and simple at the same time, he quickly introduced himself and expressed his gratitude then sat back on his seat. The meeting continued for about 2 hours, 30 minutes. So many things were talked about, so many donations, so many ideas brought up, criticised, adopted and dispatched. By 1'0clock the meeting ended and a break of 1 hour was given before the official tour would commence. Nur walked out feeling satisfied with the result of the meeting, it was more than what she had hoped for. "Miss Nur." Someone called from behind, she turned around and saw Hamza skipping towards her so she waited until he was just close enough to talk to her. "I'm sorry if I am being a nuisance. It's just that I promised to deliver Dee's message to you." He said, smiling shyly. "Ohh, it no problem really. Truth to be told, I have been a bit curious about how she reacted to the gift.," She replied with a small smile (which he couldn't really see except for the crinkling of her eyes). "That's good to know then, she and I quote." "If I ever want to wear a niqab, this will be the first I'll use and I love her and the niqab." He ended it bowing dramatically with a smile on his face. Nur chucked a bit at his silliness before she replied. "I am honoured she liked my gift and you know what? you can bring her to the official tour of CFO tomorrow, little kids are allowed In order to allow them to interact with children from the outside." Nur informed him then she looked up to his face in order to gauge his reaction and what she saw was very satisfying. His smile very wide, his eyes filled with excitement and gratitude. She had to admit he is good looking. Enough to make a lot of women drool, and the way he loved his sister was simply adoring. When she noticed she was staring, she quickly lowered her gaze muttering "astaghfurullah". She must have lost her mind for a moment, his voice brought her back from her self-criticism. "Really, thanks a lot Nur, I am very grateful. Dee will squeal our ears out today." He rushed on his words. She couldn't help but smile, his happiness was infectious. "It will be my pleasure meeting her." she said and walked off to the cafeteria. The tour ended by four, every empowerment class was checked and the 10 rooms available for really needy youth and other facilities all checked and notes were taken on places that needed repairs, Nur was at home sprawled on the sofa waiting for somebody to return home. Her mother had gone for a wedding, her Dad had gone to work and Humairah was not back from camp. As if on cue, Humairah's salam rang through the room, Nur quickly stood up and unlocked the door only for her to be hugged by a sweaty and tired Humairah. "Go freshen up, Ummah kept our lunch for us." Nur informed, patting her sister's back. Humairah just tiredly nodded, sending her sister a small smile. By 5: 40pm, Humairah was seated on the rug eating her food while nur was on the sofa. "How was your day?" Nur asked. "Fun but tiring, all those activities are going to be the end of me." Humairah sighed as she downed another spoon of food. "How was yours?" She asked after she had swallowed her food. "Mine was really nice and productive." Nur replied. "Hmm okayyy" Humairah replied dragging the"ay" in okay. "What is it?" Nur asked. "Hhhh, it's just, what we've been talking about have been on my mind, couldn't wait to get home to complete it." Humairah glanced at her sister a bit wary hoping Nur wasn't upset by her curiosity. Nur wasn't at all upset, in fact, she smiled a little and dragged her sister's ear "curious kitty" she said. "But since I'm in a good mood, I'll continue until Ummah returns." Nur told her, smiling at how her sister sat upright looking at her. " A week later, I was discharged from the hospital and we went back home. Since I missed my last exam, it meant I had to carry over that course, Alhamdulilah it was an elective with just 1 credit unit. Amar became so attentive to me that I fell in love with him again. His mother did not really improve, if anything she was indifferent towards me. One week after retuning home, Amar gifted me our honeymoon ticket to Paris, Dubai and Italy. He said it was to make up for the honeymoon we missed and like he said, we needed to bond and a honeymoon was the perfect opportunity. And he was right, we bonded more than ever. He told me things he didn't bother telling me before, we shared our secrets he and became closer than ever. When we returned, we were inseparable always calling each other when we were not together, his father even teased us all the time about how we couldn't do without each other. It was four days to school resumption, I fell sick and was rushed to the hospital and there, it was announced to me that I was 2 weeks pregnant, I was happy beyond words and Amar was ecstatic. I remember he had promised that if it was a boy, we would name him jalal. When we went back home, he broke the news to his parents and his mum for the first time since our marriage, hugged me wishing me safe delivery. We were all truly happy and excited for the baby, this time Amar allowed me to stay In the hostel but Rashidah was in the house in case if I needed her for something. He pulled the strings and I got a room with just one roommate and it was my closest friend in school, Halima. In fact, he left no stone unturned in making sure I was comfortable. My parents heard the news and I could almost feel Ummah dancing through the phone while Abbah was muttering praises to Allah. That pregnancy had brought with it alot of joy.I always prayed for him to be delivered Strong, healthy and happy. I was going to have another Jalal and this time I wouldn't give him a chance to fall sick or feel stressed at all, I needed to see my Jalal grow into a young man. A blessed young man.
