Arya’s POV
I was going upstairs when I met nurses Hans and Ria. They carried a travel bag with their belongings. It is big enough to fit the clothes and other items they used during their almost 2 months stay here at the mansion.
They smiled at me when they saw me. I also returned those smiles.
Now they are leaving.
Even though I've only been with them for two months, somehow I can still miss them. Not only did I consider them as nurses, I also considered them friends.
They are easy to get along with because of the good attitude they have.
I wasn’t mistaken that they were the ones I took when Keeion was looking for someone to be Ellie’s nurse. They didn’t give me a problem. They both did a good job.
"Are you both leaving?" I asked when I stopped just to talk to them.
The two nodded.
"Yes, Miss Arya," Hans replied.
"In that case, I will send you to Uncle Luisito." I still can't take my smile away from them. I slowly lifted my hand and reached for their arm to tap gently. “Thank you very much, Hans and Ria. Thank you for taking care of Ellie and thank you for not embarrassing me with Señorito Keeion when I took you. You guys didn't disappoint me. You’re both a good nurse!”
“Thank you, Miss Arya. You have been very kind to us and have not failed to give us what we need while we are here in the mansion. And one more thing, we were happy to take care of Ma’am Ellie. We are happy that her recovery is very fast.”
It's good news how fast Ellie healed. It seems like only recently when she could barely move her legs and other parts of her body because of the severe wounds she sustained. But now she can almost run and can compete with us.
“You really helped Ellie a lot. Because of your care, her recovery has been speeded up. The same goes for Miss Candy who is her therapist, you all have made a big contribution to Ellie's recovery.”
After I thanked them, I took the two outside and waited for Uncle Luisito to prepare the vehicle that would be used to deliver them. They also have a long trip because they are going home to Manila. I met two nurses when I was confined due to a very high fever and they were always monitoring me. Because of them, I found a friend back in the hospital. So when Keeion instructed me to find a nurse to take care of Ellie, I immediately contacted them.
When the car stopped in front of us, I helped the two of them put their belongings in the back of the car. Uncle immediately opened the door of the passenger’s seat.
“Always be careful, huh? The mansion is open if you want to visit.”
They were about to get into the car when they were stopped because someone shouted their names.
"Hans, Ria!"
We turned around and saw Ellie coming out the door now. She almost flew towards us at its speed.
“Gosh! What are you doing? Don’t be in a hurry. Your legs might hurt, be careful!” Aunt Cora was worried.
"But Aunt, maybe I can't reach nurses Hans and Ria," she reasoned. “Why didn't you wake me up so I could say goodbye to you? What? Won't you even tell me you're leaving?” She muttered to the two nurses.
"It's not like that, Ma'am Ellie," Ria said immediately.
"It's as embarrassing as us disturbing your sleep," Hans added shyly.
When I passed her room earlier, she was asleep. I would have woken her up earlier but when I saw how deeply she was asleep, my foot retreated.
She is often drowsy because it is one of the side effects of the medicine she is taking. Even though her condition is fine, Doc Guttierez is still giving her medications to restore her memory.
Ellie crossed her arms while still sulking. “Even though I'm sleeping, you should still wake me up.” She pouted.
"Sorry, Ma'am Ellie." That was all Ria said.
I understand how Ellie feels. It's really frustrating that the two of them can't make a goodbye message to her, especially since they're been with her for two months. Who doesn’t get upset when you wake up, the people you’re used to being with every day are already left, right?
And the worst part, they didn't even say goodbye properly.
Like the person I know.
I felt annoyed again when I remembered him again. That jerk!
He didn't even let me know that he was leaving. When I woke up this morning, I couldn't see him here at the mansion. I didn't even know that he was leaving today. He didn't even say anything to me. Like hello? I'm still existing!
“It's a pity you didn't catch up with Tedson. He left earlier this morning because Keeion was sending him back to Manila," Aunt Cora replied. It seems like she's reading what's on my mind right now.
So, did Aunt Cora know he was leaving? How about me?
"He said goodbye to you, Aunt?" I couldn't help but ask.
The old woman nodded. “Yes. How about you?”
I shrugged.
I secretly bowed so they wouldn't see. I don’t know what I look like now. If I am obviously disgusted or annoyed.
“Maybe you were asleep earlier so he hasn't woken you up yet. Don't be mad, Arya.”
I looked at them with a frown. “Me? I'm mad?” I laughed foolishly. "I'm not! Who cares?"
Why should I be mad? Just because he couldn’t let me know that he's leaving?
Why? Who am I to let him say goodbye to me, right?
I'm just a fvcking friend! That's it.
Aunt Cora hasn't talked to me anymore. She knows when I'm upset and how to get angry. I will never admit it even though it is obvious from my movements and reactions.
"You will still visit me here, huh?" Ellie turns her attention back to the two. "And thank you so much for taking care of me."
Ellie kissed and hugged the two nurses. She may be sad. She will probably miss them. She also got closer to Hans and Ria.
Ellie stepped aside when the two nurses got into the car. The two windows remained open so that they could wave at us before the car that Uncle Luisito was driving finally got away.
We waited for the car to disappear from our sight.
Even from a distance, we could still see the large gate of the hacienda open so that they could finally get out. There were four guards guarding the hacienda.
“Oh, don’t be sad there. Let’s go somewhere,” I said with a sharp frown on Ellie.
Aunt Cora went inside first because she still had to cook lunch. She will even fix the groceries bought by other users.
“Huh? Where?” her astonishing question.
Instead of answering her question, I chose to just go inside to get the two handy craft hats that I often use when touring the plantations.
"Put it on," I ordered her. I didn't have a hard time getting her to wear it even though she had no idea where we were going. She immediately obeyed what I said.
She wore pink, while mine was light brown.
Without permission I held his hand. "I'll take you around the flower plantation."
"Really?"
I walk ahead while holding her hand. Even though I didn't look back at her, I knew that her eyes were already twinkling because of what she heard from me. Excitement is evident in her tone!
This is one of Keeion’s commands to me.
He also said that I should take Ellie around the whole hacienda so that by the time she can work, she will know what needs to be done here.
Gradually, I would teach her how to do the day-to-day activities so that she would not have a hard time adjusting.
But for now, I will take a tour with her on the flower plantation first.
"Oh my gosh, Arya, this hacienda is really huge!"
We are currently paving the way to the plantation. I couldn’t find Jobert carrying the service car so we had no choice but to walk.
The plantation is not that far away so Ellie can walk. Also, we can stop to rest for a while.
“This hacienda is the first property owned by Señor Alejandro that he inherited from his parents. It was not that big then but because of Señor's diligence and perseverance, he was able to grow it. Growing a variety of vegetables and fruits is what made him known in the industry. Until he bought the vast lands here which further grew their business," I told her.
I learned these things from Aunt Cora when I was little. So that's how I admire the person who took me in.
We continued walking and as we passed through the vast lands where the crops were, I mentioned one by one the vegetables and fruits that were there.
Cabbage, lettuce, potatoes, carrots, beans, corn, pineapple and some apple trees, chico and mango.
The land we could see was really vast.
Ellie was amazed at what she saw.
We also met many workers on the road and had their basket in which the harvested vegetables were placed.
They will take it to town to sell. The hacienda is the main supplier of vegetables and fruits there so even though we still harvest every day, no one is wasted because they are all for sale.
A few minutes later, we finally arrived at the flower plantation.
"Wow!" That was immediately Ellie's opening compliment.
We were greeted inside by a variety of bright flowers that can only be seen in Baguio. It's really good and the climate and soil here are blessed with us and we are still able to grow these kinds of flowers.
"Here on the right side are the roses, there are different colors. On the left side are the tullips, yellow bell, dahlia and the carnation. You can see the huge sunflower at the far end of the plantation and the honeysuckle is also there.”
Ellie had nothing to say. She was almost speechless at the beautiful scene she was seeing now.
She went to the center to take a closer look at the flowers. She even talked to the three flower growers who were guarding the plantation. She asked them with a smile and Aunt Daisy enjoyed talking to Ellie.
I just watched her from here at the beginning until her aura became very sad so I immediately approached her.
The two of us are the only ones here because they said goodbye to Aunt Daisy who will take care of the fertilizers they bought earlier.
I stepped aside from Ellie. "Is there a problem?"
I could read the sadness in her eyes.
“I can't understand why I'm so close to flowers. I can’t explain how I felt earlier when I saw those. I feel that this plantation has a connection to me,” she said.
I averted my eyes. I focused my eyes on the roses in front of us.
"Maybe your favorite flower is one of the flowers here or maybe you used to love planting?"
“I don’t know…” She stopped and I noticed he sighs. “Arya, I want to know who and where I come from. I want my memories back. I really want to.”
I felt heavy when she mentioned those. I can feel her sadness and her desire to remember.
Even if I want to help, I can't do anything. Keeion makes way for that thing. I'm just waiting and giving an update about Ellie's condition.
I wanted to let Keeion know what Ellie said today so I took my cell phone out of my pocket. But when I saw what was on the screen, I didn’t have to do that anymore.
I read Keeion's text message there.
I smiled and turned to Ellie. “Don't worry because you will soon find out about who truly you are. Next week, Señorito Keeion will go home to give the documents he gathered. All your personal background are there.”
