Keeion’s POV
After I signed and understood all the piles of documents that were in front of me, I looked at my wristwatch to see what time it was.
It’s already 4:45 in the afternoon.
I picked up my cell phone that was on the side of the computer and dialed the number of Haezyl, my secretary.
It was only four o'clock when she answered it immediately.
The person on the other line did not speak immediately. I can only hear her deep breaths.
"H-Hello, Sir?"
“Where the hell are you now? It’s almost 5 o’clock!”
Even though it was on the other line, she still couldn’t escape my scream. Even though I can't see her now, I know she's closing in because of the strength of my rebuke to her. That's how she always reacts when I scold her. The beauty of Haezyl, she doesn’t take to heart what I say. Even though I scolded her every day, she still didn’t resign. Maybe it's immune.
“I’m sorry, Sir Keeion. I waited for him for almost 2 hours and he almost arrived. But no worries, Sir, I'm back with the company now.”
"Have you brought the documents yet?"
"Yes sir. I already have what you need. I'll check it too and I'm sure your orders are complete.”
I calmed down when I heard the beautiful thing it said. “Good. Be sure to provide it properly and within 30 minutes. You have been waiting for me before.”
"Ye--"
I couldn't wait for her to continue what she was going to say because I had already ended the phone call.
I looked around my desk, I had done what I had to do. I have finished my important appointments this week and I think I will not leave heavy work to Haezyl because tomorrow, I will be back at the hacienda again.
I got up and I plan to go to Dad’s office today. Our office is on the same floor and it's just next to each other so I won't have any difficulty walking because it's only a few steps away.
I left my office.
I found our employees busy with him — his work. Others, on the other hand, are already arranging things. It's almost five o'clock, that's the time they can go home.
Those I meet just bow down. Traces of nervousness on their faces. They can't even look at me. Are they that scared of me?
None of them would dare to stare me in the eye. I'm also used to it because that's the scene every day here at the company.
When I arrived in front of Dad's office, Dad's secretary smiled at me and then she also greeted me. "Good Afternoon, Sir Keeion."
She held out her hand to say I could get into Dad’s office because he had no one to talk to inside.
Straight up, I walked to the glass door. I pushed it so I could get in completely.
I found Dad busy reading the documents that were in front of him. He held a ballpen while focused on his forehead. He looks stressed again.
He didn't even notice my presence. He was too focused on the papers he was reading.
“What’s that?” I asked as I sat on the single couch.
He looked up immediately and looked for the speaker. His eyes widened at me. Dad lowered the ballpen he was holding. He now folded his two palms as it rested on the table.
"I was checking the performance of the company."
"Then, what does it says?"
"Not good," he said. He even took a deep breath. "Our company's ranking has dropped and that is not good news for our investors. What are they going to say? We are not protecting our company's rank.”
I was just calm because I expected to say what Dad would say. I found out that before and it's not a big deal to me because that's how it really is in business. Sometimes you are on top, sometimes you are on the bottom. Even more so now there are many businesses in the market that are becoming competitors.
This Dad is just a perfectionist when it comes to our business. He was reluctant to fail to maintain the company’s performance.
"We just need to change our strategy, Dad."
"How?"
“I already sent the file. Kindly check it on your email.”
Dad immediately turned his attention to his laptop. Only on his laptop because he opens his personal email account because it is difficult if it is logged into the computer. It's already difficult and maybe someone will suddenly access the computer in his office. The confidential documents are all on his laptop. I do the same.
“I already saw it. I'll just study it tonight,” he said as he looked back at me. "Is this all you meant here?" he added because maybe he noticed that I had no intention of leaving after informing him that I had already sent him the file.
"About the reunion, Dad."
That’s really my purpose in going here and I wanted to talk about it with him.
Dad has already been told about this but I still need to remind him. As much as he cared, he might have forgotten.
Cyfer texted me this morning and reminded me of our upcoming family reunion. He also said that Tito will return to the hacienda the other day. Dad and I were the only ones waiting for them to come home.
“Ah, of course! I almost forgot. It will be next week.”
I nodded. "So I'm going home tomorrow."
“Okay. I'll just finish all the paperwork and I'll be next to the hacienda.”
After I got Dad’s answer, I stood up. I looked at the wall clock on Dad's side and it was close to 5:30. Haezyl will probably be back soon so I need to go back to my office as well.
“I have to go, Dad. Don’t stress yourself too much. You need to rest sometimes.”
He smiled sparingly at me.
I turned my back on Dad and started to step towards the door. But I hadn’t even touched the glass door when I was stopped.
“Wait, Keeion…” he chased.
I turned around and waited for what Dad would say next.
"How is Ellie's condition?" he asked.
I was surprised because he asked Ellie. When else was he interested in Ellie?
“She’s okay now. According to Doc Guttierez and Miss Candy, her recovery is fast. But the memories she lost are still not coming back.”
Dad's face was blank so I couldn't read his emotions.
“Be sure there will be no problem with her. Especially my news, they have returned to the Philippines, Mr. Hossun. You know what I mean, don't you?”
“Y-Yes, Dad. I'll take care of Ellie. No worries.”
I heard that they're returning Mr. Hossun and that’s one of my problems right now. I’m sure I’m one of the reasons why they came back here to the Philippines. I knew in myself that they were not done with me yet. They won’t let them not reward me. That’s what I need to prepare for now.
I left Dad's office and went back to my office. I wasn't wrong, I found Haezyl inside. She is currently waiting for me there.
It immediately stood up when it saw me just entering. "S-Sir!"
Traces on its appearance that are very tired. It also catches her breath. Her hair was out of order and her sweat was dripping.
Is this still my secretary?
"Why do you look like that?"
"There's too much traffic so I chose to just run so I can catch up with you."
I didn’t notice that I felt pity for what she did. She is very determined in her work. She always follows what I say even if sometimes I don't take my threats seriously.
“Where’s the documents?” I changed the subject.
It bent down and picked up the brown envelope that lay on the table. He handed it to me which I immediately took.
As soon as I grabbed it, I immediately opened it. I picked up the papers that were inside. I looked at them one by one to confirm that they were complete.
Haezyl and the private investigator we hired didn’t really disappoint me.
All the papers I needed were completed.
I already have the documents I ordered.
"Did you tell the private investigator to keep quiet?"
"Yes sir. I also paid the extra fee just so that it wouldn't sing to others. Don't worry because he has one word and his work has been clean.”
I nodded. "That's good." I suddenly remembered what time it was so I had to prepare to go home to the hacienda. “You may now leave. I will just send your reward for this task to your bank account.”
Her eyes twinkled at what she heard. "Thank you so much, Sir!"
Whenever I ask Haezyl to do something and she does it nicely and well, I actually give her money as her reward. So maybe that's one of the reasons why no one gets a problem with the ones I work for. She becomes greedy especially because of the amount I give.
After Haezyl left, I went straight to my desk and put the brown envelope in the bag.
I already have the documents that I will give to Ellie. These are the documents about her identity. I hired a private investigator to investigate Ellie’s true identity.
