Chapter 23

"Everyone!"
Halia smiled when she heard the shout of one of their farmers running back to their way. And behind him, she saw his friend following him.
"We have blessings!"
He exclaimed excitedly and then his fellow farmers stopped what they were doing.
“Elorde? What are you yelling while you’re still running? ”A lady asked, still holding her straw hat blown by the wind.
The man Elorde and his friend stopped in front of the ladies.
"Auntie!" He mentioned loudly in the lady's name and breathed heavily. "Auntie, those mango trees at the distance! There are so many fruits!" Overjoyed with delight Elorde said.
Halia, Ezenio, and Brimo looked at each other with a smile.
"Many fruits?" Her father asked in awe and Mr. Tamaro, as well as her mother, looked at each other.
“Huh? How did that happen? There are even more mangoes here than there, "the Lady asked curiously and looked at Elorde.
“There is just a little fruit on that area. There are even more here,  stop fooling us Elorde!" commented an old man on top of the mango tree.
She understood why they did not believe him. Because after all, it's not possible.
“You're fooling us again Elorde, if I were you, just do your work and behave! Ma'am Karina and Sir Marco are still here, and then you are still doing that crazy thing— ”
“No, Auntie! What Elorde says is true! We saw it, there is a lot of mango fruit in that area!” Elorde's friend insisted.
"Maro, we've been there before, so we skipped that. We're just going to waste our time there because there are only a few mangoes in every tree!" Another lady seemed annoyed. She shook her head and just went back to work.
The farmers with them laughed.
“Señorita Halia told us that there are many fruits in that place! So we just went and looked at it, and we found out that was real," Maro reasoned and pointed at Halia.
All the people there looked at her. When she smiled they were even more surprised.
The others quickly stood up and headed in that direction. From a distance, she heard them shouting in delight. The other farmers immediately went down to the mango trees. They ran ahead and everyone was amazed at what they saw.
"What's going on?" Mr. Tamaro asked in a whisper.
But her father acted and also went the way of their people. Her mother followed as well as Mr. Tamaro.
Halia, Brimo, and Uzenio remained smiling. They know that the people who harvest their mangoes are grateful. She feels the joy in her heart and it gives energy to her personality.
While everyone around them was busy harvesting, Halia and the two of them went to the other part of their mango plantation where there were no people. She anointed those trees with her blood.
“The three wounds are enough, Halia. I don't want you to get hurt physically," Brimo stopped her as she continued to slice her palm with the knife she made from her arrow.
“I’m not hurt Brimo. I enjoy what I was doing," she reasoned.
“You’re hurt, I know. No one is not hurt while cutting the skin. That's enough," Brimo insisted but she didn't listen and she still smeared blood on the mango tree.
She was even happier as she watched the fruits grow on the mango tree.
“Halia, Brimo is right. That's enough," Uzenio also stopped her and held her arm.
She faced Uzenio. “Zenio, there are only a few trees I have smeared. That is not enough to satisfy the fruit of the people here— ”
"Halia!" depressed Uzenio pointed out the extent of their mango. "Don't tell me that you will consume your blood on 50 hectares of your mango plantation?" His question is sarcastic.
"If my blood reaches all the mango trees within 50 hectares of this mango plantation, why not?"  she kidded seriously to him and then turned away.
She went to another tree and smeared it with blood. Uzenio angrily faced Brimo.
“Have you seen what you did? If you hadn't taught her, she wouldn't be hurting herself now!" Uzenio barked at Brimo and ran away from him.
Brimo remained standing and just nodded. Uzenio was right. If he had not taught Halia about that thing, Halia will not hurt herself.
He just scratched his head and followed Uzenio seemed like Halia's tail.
As they followed Halia, Brimo looked at the loose mango trunk. It will almost be broken by the amount of fruit. When he tried to reach it his hand touched the fruit. He smiled so he picked one.
He ate it and it tasted sweet. He continued to follow Halia and he even laughed at Uzenio who continued to stop Halia from doing so. Eventually, Uzenio fell on his shoulders and leaned against a mango tree.
Uzenio sat at the root of the tree as if he was tired of reprimanding Halia. He approached him.
"One of the characteristics of a fairy is the ability to heal wounds," he said looking at Halia but talking to Uzenio. "So you have nothing to worry about her," he said calmly and turned his gaze to Halia as he bit a mango fruit.
Uzenio just looked at him with a frown. But he ignored Uzenio's astonishment and just followed Halia.
He saw Halia at the distance as she smeared another mango tree with her blood. But he ran closer to her when he saw her cutting her palm again.
“Halia that's enough! You already have many wounds," he said in a panic and took her hand. His eyes widened when he saw the large cut on her palm. He also noticed her moaning and blowing on his wound because of the pain." Why did you make this large laceration? How did you manage to endure the pain? " he exclaimed in gaped.
"I have to endure this even if it hurts," Halia complained.
“That's enough, you should stop! Something that might happen to you— "
"I thought, there's nothing to worry about Halia because she can heal wounds," Brimo turned his attention to Uzenio who had suddenly neared them while speaking sarcastically.
“And now! Why you're the one who's going to faint with worry before her," Uzenio said smirking.
Brimo was gulped out of shame. He averted his eyes from Uzenio. “T-then what do you want me to do? Of course, I love her!" he frowned and looked at Halia again.
But suddenly she turned pale. "H-Halia?" She was anxious to hear him.
Uzenio's eyes also widened and he quickly stepped towards them.
"Halia?" Uzenio shouted anxiously.
"Halia!" They shouted together when Halia suddenly fainted and Brimo caught her.
Brimo immediately carried Halia like a bridal style, and Uzenio acted chaotically as if he didn't know what to do even though it was clear to him that he needed to call Halia's parents.
Brimo gasped as he carried Halia and quickly ran to the place of many people. His feet seemed to be on the wrong path because of the thick grass he was treading on.
“Auntie! Uncle! ” Uzenio called out to Halia's parents.
Halia's parents looked at them in bewilderment and were shocked in worry when they finally saw their daughter fainting.
"What happened?" Halia's father's voice thundered and he almost stumbled in ran to confront them.
"She's out of consciousness, Uncle!" Uzenio didn't seem to know what he was going to say yet
His look at Halia's bloody hand made his hand squirm as his lips quivered. Brimo gulped as if he didn't know how to explain the blood on Halia's hand to her parents.
“Our house is near from here, Sir Marco! Let's just take her there," The farmhand's voice sounded worried, and he pointed his finger at their house in the distance.
Even some of their farmers are worried about Halia's condition.
"Brimo what happened?" Halia's mother asked Brimo.
Brimo gulped again and didn't know what to say. The farmhand of the mango plantation stepped in the direction of their house and Brimo had not yet answered the question of Halia's mother.
"Please, hurry!" Marco hurried Brimo.
Brimo immediately followed while he was carrying Halia. The farmer's house is surrounded by a fence made of bamboo. They went in there until they got inside the house.
Brimo entered Halia in one of the rooms there. The house is Bungalow and has three bedrooms inside. The middle room was the one they used to put Halia to bed.
Brimo slowly laid her down on the bed in the room. Marco and Karina immediately entered the room. Marco held his daughter's hand full of worry.
"Where did these wounds come from?" Marco asked worriedly.
Karina came next to Marco and touched Halia's bloody hand.
"Why does my daughter have wounds on her hand?" Karina sobbed again and was worried as she looked at her daughter's wounds. She looked at Brimo who was currently standing next to the bed. “What happened, Brimo? Why does she have wounds? Where did it come from? "Karina asked him while sobbing.
Brimo gulped and looked at Uzenio uneasily as well. Uzenio was even more stunned when Karina looked at him.
"Uzenio?" Karina asked Uzenio as he gulped.
Uzenio's sweat was dripping from his forehead as he stared at Brimo who couldn't speak.
“Brimo? Why can't you speak? ”  She looked at Uzenio quivering his lips. “Uzenio? What happened to Halia?" Karina asked in a whimper and seemed irritated because of their silence.
"A-ahm ..." Brimo still seemed to be struggling to find a reason.
"Wait! I'll get some lukewarm water," said the girl who was also in the room and looked like a daughter of a farmhand. She immediately left the room and they followed her with their gaze.
"S-She fell," Uzenio gulped and averted his eyes uneasy. Karina and Marco looked at each other as if doubting Uzenio and Brimo's saying, but there were still traces of worry on their faces.
Brimo, on the other hand, looked at the farmers who peeked into the room. And on the farmhand with them inside.
"I-it's hard to explain, Uncle," Brimo stammered and looked at Marco meaningfully.
Marco seemed to understand what Brimo meant. He turned a gaze to his farmers.
"Can you ... leave us first?" he pleads with his farmers.
