Chapter 39

After they talked about the matter, Karina was currently walking to the left and walking to the right in front of Marco. This time, they were the only two left in their house. Noreo and Brimo, as well as Halia and Uzenio, left.
Karina feels like they are already choking on the situation. Fear prevailed throughout her system. She’s afraid that maybe anytime, Halia will lose them.Whoever knows, any parents who find themselves in such a situation will feel the same way. Especially, their enemy isn't a normal human. They're vampires that could kill in just one second.
“If being a fairy is really in our blood? Why can't I use its power to protect our daughter, Marco?" Karina asked anxiously. She looked weird as she squeezed her head out of fear, anxiety, and uneasiness.
“If you had just listened to me, it wouldn’t have all ended in this situation,” Marco muttered, sulkiness prevailed. “I said before, let's leave this place! We will take Halia away from this place! But you never listen to me. You still agree with your daughter's opinion." He sighed.
Karina couldn't utter any word in a moment. She just cried holding her head and sitting down on the couch. “Do I still have the right to blame my father? He was gone, but he left us the curse! Why should all families have a fairy race, why us?” she screamed and burst into tears.
Marco did not speak. Like Karina she was just quietly crying in her seat. “I have only one child. Destiny is still interfering. I don’t want to lose my child, Karina!" He complained shaking his head. Eventually he stood up. "I don't know how the Milandres family can protect us, but I agreed to what they want. We will live in their place not because I'm a coward. I just want to make sure my daughter is safe."
Following Marko's decision, the next day they immediately packed up to move out from their house. It wasn’t easy for Marco, but it was what they needed. The complex situation can be seen right in their respective reactions. Marco is currently driving the car and Karina is just looking out the window. Halia just silent in the back.
Arriving at the village of the Milandres the large gate of the mansion automatically opened for them. Karina's actions show the attention of the place itself. She was amazed but she insisted on just being calm. "If we're in a normal life, I want to be happy that Brimo is the man you can marry, Halia," Marco whispered and Halia looked at him. "That's assured, he can give you a good life."
"He can also give me a good life, Father," reasoned Halia.
"But it wouldn't be in this situation where there is danger in every move we make," his Father also reasoned.
"But it's not Brimo who carries the danger—"
"I didn't say that Brimo is a danger to your life, he's victims too, we are all victims. I just meant that I hope we are not in this situation," Marco interrupted Halia's speech.
Halia just kept quiet and looked out the window again. Karina sighed as a guard came out of the gate and motioned for them to let the car in. Marco immediately took action and restarted the engine. Karina kept looking at the guard until the car stopped right in front of the big mansion.
The guards did not hesitate to approached the car. They were the ones who opened the door and the beautiful Halia showed to them.
As she descended the two guards automatically bowed in front of her. She was momentarily uncomfortable with the situation because she wasn't used to being respected like that. But she knew the reason so she just let out a smile to them.
"Don't bow down. It's just me," she said calmly as the two guards raised their heads.
"But you are the one who will be the spouse of our prince. What we have historically respected for them should be the same for you," argued one of them.
She just nodded and looked at her parents. She didn't have the right to go against what werewolves were used to so she didn't protest anymore. Her parents just nodded to her in agreement.
"Princess Halia, a warm welcome on your arrival." The two maids immediately bowed in front of her. He just smiled at them and waited for them to look up.
"Good morning to you too," she greeted with a smile and her parents followed suit. They are guided until entering the mansion. Everyone who was there made their arrival feel special. Halia's chest goes up and down erratically.
It wasn't even the first time she came to this mansion but she couldn't help but gulped. Brimo's sweet smile was what she saw—he stood from a distance and walked towards her.
"My love." He immediately locked her in his arms and hugged her back. "Thank you..." he whispered to her as she also smiled.
"Welcome!" Noreo's voice prevailed, breaking Brimo and Halia from hugging each other. He approached them: Noreo and Marco immediately greeted each other.
Marco and Karina looked at Noreo a few more times and chose to smile and nod. "Your place is huge. We're ashamed but thank you," Marco said, seeming to have lost his pride.
"Our place well also become yours. Feel at home, don't be shy. Our family will be united because our son and daughter will be one sooner or later," Noreo replied chuckling.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Milandres—"
"Like I said earlier, our place is your place too," Noreo interrupted Karina's speech and she just smiled. "Come, the food is waiting," he invited and pointed towards the dining area. Brimo faced Halia and give her a simple nod.
Karina's eyes wandered around the entire mansion. Every corner of the place did not escape in her sight.
She could say to herself that the wealth they had in Brimo was not for nothing. Halia was indeed lucky but they were there with the reality that their lives were in danger.
A long table greeted them in the dining. There is a lot of food on top of it. It's just like they're ready for the fiesta even if they're the only ones to eat. "You may sit," Noreo offered and took a seat at the end of the table. Karina and Marco each pulled a chair even though they were few. Brimo, on the other hand, pulled Halia a chair and helped her to sit.
"We're ashamed, Noreo. There's a lot of food even though we're the only ones here," Marco commented shyly and chuckled.
Noreo laughed. "You know, Brimo is my only child and for him to see that I support him as a father in his decisions in life. This is one of the appreciations I did for him. And another thing, this is also the beginning of the union of our family. Let's just say that this is a celebration for our initiation," he explained.
Everyone nodded and both had smiles on their lips. "Thank you very much Mr. Milandres—"
"Just call me Noreo. Don't call me Mr. Milandres, it's too formal," Noreo interrupted Karina's speech.
Karina laughed. "If you say so," she said and grabbed the cutlery. Brimo smiled and took a slice of meat and placed it on Halia's plate.
"That's your favorite, isn't it?" he said and Halia hugged his arm for a moment.
"Yes," Halia answered, "Thank you."
They continued to eat, at first they couldn't help but be ashamed. So they keep quiet while eating.
After a while, Noreo took a sip and spoke, "By the way." He put the spoon and fork down on his plate. Everyone looked at him. "Since our situation is no longer a joke. We have a lot to fight against, especially you vampires. I want to give my son a fancy wedding but I think it's better if for now, just a simple wedding first?" he asked bluntly.
Brimo and Halia and the couple Marco and Karina looked at each other for a moment. "I just want to ensure the safety of all of us. That's why I know there's probably nothing wrong with the idea—"
"Even if the priest blesses them, it's okay with me," Marco retorted. "We have the same desire, there are many opportunities to do what everyone is used to. But for now, I prefer to be careful," he added.
Noreo looked at Halia. "Is that all right with you, Halia?" he asked.
Halia sighed. "I'm good enough for the simple but sacred. There's no problem with me," she replied with a spare smile.
Any woman dreams of a fancy wedding. It was heavy inside her but she had to agree.
Also for the sake of the life of their future child. "Even if we just sign a document that proves we're married, that's okay. We need to focus more on our situation."
"Thank you very much, our Princess." Noreo smiled at Halia. "But before we do that thing. I don't want us to be hiding anything from each other."
When Noreo said that, Halia's chest pounded and she and Brimo looked at each other.
Will Noreo tell Marco and Karina their true selves?
