Chapter 57 Episode fifty seven

I placed the phone on my ear instantly. “Norah! Mia is awake. Oh, goodness.” She yelled in excitement. I popped my eyes as I tried to take in the good news.
“Are you saying her eyes are finally open? She woke up?” I asked in a high pitch tone.
“Of course, I'm so happy. Oh Christ, finally.” She said in a rush, excitement gushing through her voice.
“I will be on my way now, Mrs Cora.” I yelled with my lips stretching so broadly with each smile that displayed on my face. We ended the call and I turned to see Francis staring at me curiously.
“What is-” before he could finish his sentence, I interrupted.
“Mia is awake. Do you know what that means? She was meant to live.” I utter joyfully and took a deep breath.
The joy flowing right through my veins knew no bound, I was elated and grateful she didn't end up in a coma forever.
“Can you take me to the hospital, please?” I asked Francis.
“Sure. Why not, huh? Besides, I would like to see this friend of yours; she must be so special to you.” He added.
I hopped inside the car as Francis took over the driver seat. He ignited the engine and took over the steering wheel as we began to drive out of that premises.
My thoughts were wild and far, I could not wait to get to the hospital. I didn't realize Francis was actually talking to me, not until he tapped me slightly on the shoulder. I turned with pop-eyes and stared at him.
“Relax, okay, I can bet your thought are far beyond this zone. She is fine now, so relax, Norah.” He voiced out, and I sniffed the air and tried to keep calm.
We got to the hospital and I stepped out of the car before Francis could even think of it. He followed me behind as I rushed into the building. “Norah!” Bianca called out my name with a wide smile when she sighted me.
She dropped her mouth wide open for a second when she noticed Francis, who was standing behind me. I noticed the way she slowly shut her mouth before flicking her eyes back to me.
“it Is a miracle, you know, she is awake and can talk now.” She stated. I could not hold back the excitement as I jumped on her and gave her a tight hug.
“Thank you for taking care of her.” I whispered into her ears and she patted my back slightly.
I unlocked from the hug and signaled Francis, we moved into the ward together, as I got closer to the room, I stopped right at the door.
“Are you okay?” He asked me as he placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Yes, I'm fine.” I replied immediately and opened the door slowly while taking short steps as I entered.
Her mom noticed me and stood up immediately and ran to hug me. I gave her a side hug as my only concentration was on Mia, who eyes were boring into mine.
Those bright eyes, I was hoping to see them opened again, and they did. Her mom moved away as she gave me space. “No… Norah?” Mia called faintly with a teary eye.
I rushed to her and hugged her like my life depend wholly on it. And tears began to flow from my eyes, I could not control it. “I'm sorry.” She whispered in a cracked voice.
“Shhh. Don't be.” I said and unlock from the hug. I sat close to her and wipe her tears with my palm. She held my hand so tight, like she was afraid of letting go.
“I almost thought we lost you, but thank God you're a fighter.” I mumbled with a sniff, and she smiled as a tear spilled out.
“I don't know where to start from, but I know I have made countless mistakes, with those that almost ruin me. I can never be a perfect daughter, Norah.” She cried out as more tears flow down her cheek.
Her mom could no longer control her water tank as she step out of the room. I held her both hands. “We are not perfect, and that's why we are humans.” I whispered.
“Get some rest, I'm here for you and forever will be.” I assured her.
“I don't deserve this love, I don't.” She cried out while shaking her head.
I placed her head on my shoulder and patted her back gently. “Don't say a word, Mia.” I spoke with my voice cracking a little bit. I turned and locked eyes with Francis, he was just staring at us.
He held this pitiful look in his eyes as he focused his attention on us. I released a little smile at him to ease the tense atmosphere, and he smiled back.
He moved closer to me and dragged a chair Mia's mom was sitting on before she walked out of the room. “You're a good friend.” He whispered, and I felt a certain warmth flowing in me because of his words.
