The Funeral 35

“I support that,” Susan agreed and attempted to get back onto the bus. To avoid the General Manager disapproving their request, the team disagreed with her, “No, you are his secretary. He may need you to write the report.”
Just as they expected, he smiled and took a step to walk away, Susan got the message and disembarked at once. Then, she announced, “I give up. I would rather not be the Jonah in your boat.”
They laughed loudly and one of them teased, “The Jonah has stepped off, boss. Can we leave?”
He smiled softly and looked at Silas, and inquired. “Do you think it is safe?”
Before Silas could respond, the staff members chorused, “It is safe, boss.”
“Okay. Be careful,” he consented and warned.
“Thank you, boss," the team members appreciated at once and he left immediately, while Susan stayed back and watched them leave.
“Secretary, don't sulk. I will get some chocolate for you,” one of them teased. They laughed happily and she gave a mild smile before waving at them. After they drove off, she walked to her suite, pressed the doorbell, and waited. To her surprise, the door opened at once and she walked in. Tony shut the door, embraced her immediately and they engaged in a tight hug. Meanwhile, Tony felt guilty for disturbing her freedom of movement, and he whispered, “Do you wish to go with the team?”
“Not at all. It was a facade to mask up my longing for you.”
He was pleased with her sacrifice, disengaged her, and looked at her face. She smiled shyly, and he praised, “I love you for that, Susan.”
“I love you too. Besides, this is the only time we have.”
Tony chuckled at the shallowness of her reasoning and kissed her lips. “You need to freshen up. You look tired.”
“Okay,” She turned around and requested, “Kindly unzip my dress.”
He was moved by the privilege and began to unzip her dress. Now, her smooth skin was revealed and he kissed her back.
“You have a lovely skin, Susan,” he commended and rubbed it. Soon, his hands were holding her boobs, and he pulled her nipples.
“Ah!” She moaned in ecstasy and supported his hands with hers to encourage him to continue. He kissed her nape and ear, and announced with an emotional voice, “You have given me a lot to remember, Susan.”
She turned slowly and faced him. Now, her dress was off, and her exposed breasts stared at him. Tony fondled them to his pleasure and searched her face for her reaction.
“Do you like it?” He asked and looked into her eyes. According to their height differences, she gave him a peck on the chest, looked into his dark, brooding eyes, and responded, “I like everything you do to me.”
“Thank you. I started thinking of what to do to you when you were addressing the girls.”
She chuckled and looked into his eyes, and said, “I thought as much. What is stopping you now?”
“Nothing.”
Without thinking of freshening up again, it was another blissful day. Afterward, they took their bath together and rested on each other's arms.
At the Village.
The funeral was a hitch–free one. The policemen, who had bonded with the family, put in their best to ensure that there was orderliness. The DPO was on his toes and for the first time, he had a handshake with the IGP, and he did not take it for granted.
“Good day, boss,” he greeted when Evans and his Co in-laws walked the IGP to his car with the expensive wine, that Frank was holding. He stopped in his tracks and looked at the well-dressed police officer.
“How are you?” He responded with a questioning look.
“That is the DPO that you directed me to. He did a good job," Evans introduced.
“That is good to hear. Keep it up, DPO.”
“I will. Thank you, boss.”
They walked on and the DPO tagged along. Then, based on Evans' testimony about the DPO, the troubled Felix inquired casually, “Good job, DPO.”
“Thank you, Commissioner, for the compliment.”
“For how long have you been the DPO?”
The startled DPO looked at the Commissioner of Police and responded cheerfully, “Four years, boss.”
“That is good. You are doing a good job. Keep it up.”
“I appreciate it, boss.”
“You are welcome. Get my direct contact from my orderly. Inform me if you have any challenges. I will call the IGP's attention. Did you get me?"
"I got you, Commissioner. I am highly grateful."
To the DPO, his wish had come to fruition. He quickly collected the contact from the orderly and they moved on.
“We appreciate your presence, Sir,” Evans and his co-in-laws appreciated one after the other when they got to his car.
“It is my pleasure.” He responded.
“Meeting Fidel was an icing on the cake,” Callum pointed out.
“Oh! Fidel, my son,” he said before he got into his car and Felix got in too. Then, he waved at them and the team drove off. They did the same for all the dignitaries afterward, they left the field for the house.
At Uncle Emma's House
The burial and funeral of his late brother had added more feathers to his cap. Although he was a highly respected man, organizing such a burial for his good-for-nothing brother earned him much respect. He got home from the field, and met numerous elders and youths, waiting to cheer him up. At that point, it was only the people who were close to him who would take it upon themselves to be with him at that moment. Meanwhile, they cheered him up one after the other, “Mr. Aaron, you did very well. With a brother like you, the world would be a better place.”
“The way you organized his daughters and our in-laws is spectacular.”
“We did not realize that this edifice was his until this morning when his corpse was laid to rest.”
“It is good to have intelligent daughters. Look at what his daughter did today.”
Nevertheless, Uncle Emma was elated with the endless accolades, and he responded cheerfully.
“I feel honored, my fellow elders. I thank you all for forgiving my brother by coming out in your numbers, not minding that we could not settle his debt and provide…”
The elders interrupted the cunning Emma, who wished to hear their reactions to the presentation which Ada made that morning.
“Not at all. Your niece surprised us. She cleared the debt with interest.”
“What! That is commendable,” Uncle Emma faked surprise. Then, another elder pointed out, “It was not just that, she gave us two bulls, yams, kegs of wine. Mr. Aaron, with what I saw today, it is good to have a daughter. Beck's death had opened my eyes.”
