107 The Funeral 48

“Baby, get up. It is time for dinner.” He announced after he gave her a peck. She opened her eyes slowly, and he helped her to get up. He walked her to the dining table and they took their seats.
“Thank you, dear,” Susan appreciated. He opened the dishes, and they began to eat.
“Do you like it?” Tony asked after she took the first spoon.
“Yes. The hotel cooks very well.”
“You are correct. You must be a good cook. Am I right.” Tony remarked, and looked into her eyes. She smiled and asked, “Why do you think so?”
“My instinct tells me.”
“Your instinct is correct. Permit me to ask, what is your favorite food.”
“My favorite food is Susan,” he responded quickly and watched her laughing happily.
“So, what will be my favorite food?”
“Me.” He pointed out and laughed softly.
“Let me eat you as much as I can before we depart.”
She got up from her seat and gave him an affectionate kiss. Thereafter, she took her seat and Tony appreciated, “Thank you for eating me again.”
“It gives me pleasure eating you.”
They continued with their meal, and suddenly, he recalled the report.
“Check your phone. I sent the report of the trip to you.”
She looked at him before picking up her phone. Then, she saw the report and appreciated, “Thank you for making my impromptu job simple.”
Tony smiled and instructed, “Don't mention. Read through it, and send it to Silas. Request him to appraise it for you.”
“I got it.”
She read through the report, and thereafter, she sent it to Silas and pleaded for his assistance. Then they continued with their meal. Soon, Silas gave her a call. She picked and greeted, “Hello, Mr. Jack.”
“Hello, Mrs. Angus. I got your message. The report is in order. Thank you for being punctual.”
“Thank you, Mr. Jack. How do I send it to the boss?” She asked, and looked at Tony, who fixed his gaze on her, and he shook his head in approval.
“You don't have to send it directly to the boss. Send it to his secretary, and she would forward it to him.”
“That is thoughtful of you. I will do that right now if you give me her contact.”
“I will send it to you at once.”
She got the secretary's contact immediately the call ended and forwarded the report.
“It's done,” she announced. Tony gave her a love look and asked, “Has anyone told you that you are smart?”
“Yes. But I'm hearing it for the first time from the man I love.” Now, her voice was emotional, and he noticed that she may break down and intervened. He ignored her mood, and diverted her attention with a broad smile.
“That is all you need. Eat your food,” he declared, and she complied. They ate silently, and when the meal was over, they settled down on the couch and watched the television together.
At the Hospital.
While Sharon breastfed the baby, she looked at the adorable baby and resolved that Felix wished to have her nurse the baby, and he would hand her over to his sister to raise. The idea was better for her than giving her up for adoption.
“At least, she would have her father, and I can always see her,” she encouraged herself. Now her mind wandered to the day he accepted to be Bruno's mistress.
“Vanity upon vanity. I traded my youth for money, and stole another woman's husband,” she blamed herself. Then, she looked at the baby girl again, and smiled inwardly, “Thank you for being a girl. I would have given Bruno Felix's baby.”
“The baby has slept. Put her in the court. You need to rest too,” Felly announced. She collected the baby from her and laid her on the baby, while the midwife happily assisted. She carried Jerry out of the bed and asked Terry to come down.
“Your aunt would love to sleep,” she advised.
Sharon laid on the bed and appreciated.
“There are bottles of yogurt. You can take one before you sleep.” Felly announced. Now, she opened and handed a bottle to her, and she collected it.
“Thank you for this, aunty.”
She appreciated, and gulped a mouthful and dropped it on the cupboard.
“Kindly finish it. Your baby needs more breast milk,” the midwife requested. Felly gave her a smile and encouraged, “If you don't take enough, your baby will be tinier than Terry could imagine.”
Now, Felly's trick worked. To ensure that her baby did not get tinier, Sharon looked at Terry and picked up the bottle of yogurt and emptied it at once, and appreciated again, “Thank you, aunty.”
The team laughed after she dropped the empty container and, Felly offered, “Two bottles of yogurt a day won't be too much. Am I right, midwife?”
“Definitely not,” the happy midwife buttressed. Now, Felly had opened the second bottle of yogurt and stretched her hand over to Sharon. She smiled and collected it. Likewise, she gulped half of the bottle and dropped it.
“I will continue later,” she revealed. “ That is good. Before you sleep off, what would you love to have for dinner?” Felly inquired.
“I love what I had for lunch.”
“That's okay.” She slept off and Felly joined her husband on the couch. After a few minutes, the receptionist led two youths, Francis and Flora, into the ward and they greeted happily.
“Good evening, big sister. Good evening, Uncle Julius.”
“Welcome. Put your voices down. They are sleeping,” Felly warned. Francis, Felix's immediate younger brother, would heed the warning, but not Flora, the last born.
“How can she be sleeping when her big aunty is here?” She inquired and walked to the baby's cot.
“Aunty, don't wake her up. It is my duty to protect her,” Terry declared and walked up to the cot. However, Flora had removed the baby from the cot and sat on the second bed.
“Excused me,” the midwife announced, and left to make way for the two visitors.
Now, Flora rubbed Terry's head and teased, “You have all the time to protect her, my dear.” She helped him to sit beside her on the bed, and he was accomplished.
