108 My Soulmate

“She is such a cute baby,” Francis pointed out. “Just like me,” Flora teased. They laughed softly and Felly announced, “Now that you are here, you will be their companions. I will return with her dinner when I'm done.”
“It is okay, big sister,” Francis agreed.
“I got it, big sister. When will they be discharged?” Flora asked.
“I wouldn't know until her husband returns. See you later.”
“It is okay.”
Felly and her husband walked out of the ward, but Terry, whose job was obvious, steadied his eyes on the baby.
“Terry, you can join your parents. I will help you to protect the baby until you come back.”
Howbeit, the excited Terry got down from the bed when he was convinced that the baby was safe.
“Thank you, for your help, Aunty Flora,” he greeted and followed his parents. When the midwife noticed that they had gone, she returned to the ward. Now, the baby had soiled her diaper, and was restless. So, Flora picked her from the cot and began to attend to her.
“She had soiled her diaper,” Flora informed the midwife who just walked in said.
“Let me change it,” the midwife volunteered.
“I can handle it.” Flora informed.
“It is okay.” The midwife got the baby wipes and a diaper for her, and she changed the baby seamlessly.
“I need another wears and the baby powder. These are wet. It may discomfort her.”
'What a wonderful family,' the midwife thought to herself, and got the items from the drawer. Flora powdered the baby's body and changed the dress while her brother recorded. Thereafter, she laid the baby back on her cot and joined her brother on the couch.
“Take a look. One would think that you are the mother of the baby,” Francis drew her attention.
“Oh wow! Beautiful. Have you sent to big brother?”
“Not yet. I will capture the sleeping wife and send them along.”
Afterward, the baby slept peacefully because of the powder, which drained off every sweat that could discomfort her off her. Sharon woke up from her sleep after two hours and met new faces. Apart from the first midwife, who delivered her of the baby, she was not familiar with the youths.
“Good evening, Sharon,” they greeted one after the other. She looked at them critically, and could recognize them at once. The resemblances with Felly and Felix were obvious.
“Good evening. I'm glad to have you,” she responded with a smile. Then, she looked at the midwife, who was there when Bruno left, and gave her a smile. Then, Flora informed, “Big sister had gone home. She would be back soon.”
“I see. You are welcome.”
“Thank you. Congratulations. Your baby is beautiful,” Francis greeted.
“Thank you.”
She looked at the midwife and requested. “Kindly assist me, I wish to use the convenience.”
Before the midwife could step an inch, Flora moved to the bed and volunteered, “I can be of help.”
She helped her to get up and supported her to the convenience. Furthermore, she waited for her and thereafter, walked her back to the ward. When she settled down on her bed, she looked into the cot and saw her baby, looking more beautiful with her new dress.
“Thank you, midwife, for changing her.”
“I met her like this when I resumed,” the midwife explained. Then, Sharon looked at Flora and Francis, and their looks betrayed them.
“Thank you for this. She looks more beautiful,” she appreciated. Now, Flora smiled and teased, “How do you know that I changed her?”
“It is obvious. I need to breastfeed her. She must be starving.”
The excited midwife, picked the baby and handed her over to her, and eagerly waited to watch her. Having been educated on the proper sitting position by the other midwife, she adjusted herself and began to breastfeed.
“The yogurt helped with the lactation,” she pointed out when she observed that the baby had more milk to suck.
“You are right. You will take the remaining one when you are through,” the midwife advised.
“Wow! You look good as a breastfeeding mother,” Dr. Spencer Micah commended when he suddenly walked in. He was glad to see her happy, unlike what she looked like when Bruno abandoned her.
“Good day, doctor. Thank you for your support.”
“It is my pleasure. I hope the baby is sucking very well?”
“Yes, Dr. Micah.”
“It is okay. What would you have for dinner?”
“My aunt is on her way. She would soon be here with my dinner. Thank you for your concern, doctor.”
“I see,” the doctor, who concluded that Francis and Flora were her relations, said. At that point, Felly walked in with her basket of food and greeted the doctor.
“Good evening doctor,”
“Good evening madam. We are grateful for the meal.”
“You are welcome, doctor,”
Afterward, she looked at Sharon and the baby and smiled. “Welcome back, aunty,” Sharon greeted.
“Thank you. I hope she is sucking very well?”
“Yes aunty.”
“That's good.”
Then, she set out to serve the food.
In the Hotel Room
Felix was able to take a rest and slept for the first time that day. He woke up and checked his phone and saw the new posts from Francis.
“Oh! Francis!” He exclaimed and punched on the posts.
“Wow! Flora is good with babies,” he pointed out, and cleaned the tears that dropped from his eyes. Going forward, he saw the pictures of sleeping Sharon. In his confusion, he mistook her for a woman who was ill and confined to a hospital bed, and he gave Francis a call.
At the hospital
Felly was still dishing out the food, and Sharon breastfeeding the baby. Dr. Micah was standing by and happy to see Sharon in a happy mood. Suddenly, Francis' phone rang and attracted everyone's attention to him. Likewise, Francis picked the call joyously and regretted ever sending the posts, “Good evening, big brother.”
Although the people in the ward could not hear Felix's voice, but the expression on Francis' face and his tone, were not friendly. All the same, he attempted to respond to his brother's thunderous questions calmly.
“Why is she lying like that? Is she sick?”
“There is nothing wrong with her. She was only sleeping, big brother.”
“But she looks sick. Where is the doctor?”
“The doctor is here,” Francis replied with trepidation, and looked at his sister, Felly. Meanwhile, she had stopped what she was doing and focused on Francis. The doctor was not left out of the curiosity.
“Where is big sister?”
Now, the relieved Francis took a step towards his big sister, and responded, “She is here. Kindly speak with her.” Then, he handed the phone over to her and breathed freely.
