The Funeral 24

Two Days Later – In the City
Sarah's TV program had gone viral. Thanks to her husband and in-laws, who downloaded the program from the television station website and posted on their social media handles. The staff members of the Blue Sea Oil and Gas Group were surprised to know that, the beautiful wife of their GMD had such a heartbreaking past. To Evans' and Sarah's delight, Mr. Warfield was delighted with the project. He promised to support the program. The IGP, and the EFCC boss, were not left out.
“How many of us will be part of the funeral, Diana?” Silas inquired. The secretary smiled and elucidated, “Almost everyone wished to attend.”
“I know, but the boss said he expected only twenty staff members, due to the capacity of the private jet.”
“I have to randomly pick twenty staff members and damn the consequences, especially Susan, the former General Manager's wife. She had been itching to attend.”
“Allow Susan to be part of the team,” Silas instructed. Apart from him, his orderly, Dr. Dixon, and Evans, no member of staff was aware of that Bruno abandoned her. Silas encouraged that she should be in the team because that would be a way of showing gratitude for the GMD's benevolence.
“If you say so,” Diana accepted. Nevertheless, their arrangements were thwarted when the General Manager gave Silas a call, and he picked at once.
“Hello, boss,” Silas greeted.
“Yes, Silas. Kindly inform the pilot that we are leaving for the GMD's father-in-law's burial tomorrow afternoon.”
“I got it, boss.”
“That is good. My secretary will give you the list of those going with us.”
“Okay, boss,” the befuddled Silas agreed. At the end of the call, Silas looked at Diana and pointed out, “It is better that the selection was done by him. It would save you much headache.”
“You are correct.”
Silas left for the General Manager's office and got the list, but Susan's name was not on it, and there was nothing he could do to help.
“Do you have a problem with the list?” The General Manager inquired when he saw the look on his face.
“Not really, but I would have loved Mrs. Angus to come with us. The GMD's wife may need her assistance.”
“In that case, drop my secretary and replace her with Mrs. Angus.”
“I got it boss,” Silas responded and took a step to walk away, but Tony stopped him.
“By the way, do you think that Bruno would allow her to embark on such a trip, considering the feud between him and the GMD?”
Now, the smart Silas was short of tactics to cover up Susan's secret. Besides, the General Manager may find out sooner than later the true position of their marriage, and he would not have trust in him anymore. Now, he was forced to divulge the secret.
“I don't think so, boss. He left her and the children.”
Now, the General Manager furrowed his brow and fixed his gaze on Silas, who he was certain would not joke with such a delicate matter.
“You know it can't be true, Silas.”
Silas smiled and inquired, “Can I say what I'm not aware of, boss?”
"Is the GMD aware of this?”
“Certainly.”
“Thank you for the information, Silas. Ask Anna to send a memo to the people involved in the trip and inform them of our departure.”
“You are welcome, Sir. I will do that.” Silas agreed and left.
“What must have happened? I am aware of Bruno's promiscuous lifestyle, but he was getting along with his family.” Tony mulled over after Silas left. To his despair, he was shedding tears, just as he does whenever he heard a story that touched on people's emotions.
At Sharon's House
From all indications, Sharon would deliver at any time and Bruno was expectant, but she was moody.
“You look moody, dear. What is the problem?” Bruno inquired when he noticed it.
“I thought we should be talking about traveling abroad to have the baby? You don't expect me to have the baby in Nigeria, do you?”
Now, he pulled her closer and kissed her temple, before he assured her, “I have it in mind. I will make it up to you, my girl. As soon as the matter at my office is resolved, we would relocate.”
Now, Sharon, who was not conversant with the situation in his company and hoped that he would return to work any moment, believed him and cheered up while hoping for the best.
At the Village. The Next Day
A lot had been achieved and according to Evans' speculations, the five tailors from the city were punctual. They made the clothes for over two hundred relations. Meanwhile, Emma mobilized all the members of Aaron's family. To his perplexity, some were bitter with Beck and refused to be part of his burial. As many who cooperated with him, he requested that the funeral uniforms should be made for them, and they were happy. Now, those who declined Emma's invitation came back when they learned of the uniform, but he turned them back.
“The clothes had been exhausted. The uniform will not bring him back to life. Will it?” Emma made clear.
“You are right, my in-law,” Callum, who was aware of his in-law's pranks, concurred. Then, one of them begged with diplomacy, “I am aware that the uniform would not bring him back to life, but what are we going to put on that day?”
“Put on anything you like. No one would turn you back,” Emma clarified.”
“I don't think it is a good idea because we will appear different.”
“We have the police men around, if you experience any harassment for appearing different, report to the police," Emma sarcastically responded. Now, the spokesperson of the group, left in shame, and their cases compounded because they must be part of the funeral, or they would have many questions to answer.
When the trailer truck arrived with the souvenir two days ago, mama and the rest were surprised. The souvenirs compromised of umbrellas, ceramic bowls, Ankara and bathing towel. Afterward, Frank, Oliver, and the children packed them, and they got a total of one thousand bags.
