Chapter 23 Operation Lolita in Bright Colors!

"Come on… I hear it's going to be fun… I really wish to go… but I can't go alone… mmm!" Minnie kept pestering Lolita to go to the medical school freshers' welcome party with her.
This party has been a long way coming. She didn't feel like going there alone, at least, not without her good friend, which would make her completely left out and unable to fit in. What would Lolita be doing alone at home anyway?
The only person Kurah wants to go with is Lolita Clint, and she wouldn't want to have it any other way. Kurah noticed how Lolita was always brooding and kept to herself, without smiling much. She noticed that Lolita had a deep feeling of loss in her heart, however, she felt the need to help her through it, so that she could genuinely smile once again. She felt so attached to her young friend that she had a feeling she needed to make her happy at all costs. Weird, right?
"So... let's pick something for you to wear… okay" Kurah immediately began scrambling for something presentable for Lolita to wear to the party. She wouldn't wish to have her wearing all black once again. Operation Lolita in bright colors officially begins, even though she was bound to be disappointed.
Lolita kept her eyes on Kurah, looking at her disinterestedly, all the while working away on her computer. She never mentioned that she was going to the program, but Kurah was here running helter-skelter to get her something to wear.
After a while of searching through her closet, Kurah sat tiredly on Lolita's bed and said frustratedly, "don't tell me you only have dark colors… and here I was… thinking Kuralis was weird enough… you know… you two would make a very dark pair!"
Kurah flashed Lolita a provocative smile while mocking her for having too many dark-colored clothes. I guess the best description was for having only dark-colored clothes. She then stands to her feet and says, "You are lucky that your mommy Minnie is here… let's go… I need to get you ready for tonight!"
Lolita only kept staring at her friend as if she was crazy. The young girl was so full of energy that she couldn't help wondering where she got the energy to jump around all day. She was then pulled back to reality when she heard Kurah say, "I wouldn't mind dragging you out in your current outfit… After all… you will be a feast for the eyes!"
Before Kurah could complete her statement, however, she spotted a bracelet on Lolita's hand and paused immediately. She lifted Lolita's hands to her eye level and said, "this ornament looks so real… where did you get it?"
Kurah knew the bracelet was a live animal that has transformed, but she knew she couldn't just declare it that way. Lolita may think she had an ulterior motive for approaching her in the first place.
However, before she could recover from her shock by the real background of the bracelet, she saw a black mamba slithering off Lolita's wrist, and dropping majestically onto the floor. Lolita was ready to witness her friend's reaction, as she realized that nothing scares her new friend. Maybe this could be it.
It was quite interesting to watch her move around like a fearless tiger, with care for absolutely nothing in this world. The two rather hit it off well as they were both equal in that sense.
To her utmost surprise, Kurah jumped to her feet and shouted "Oh my god…. This is so adorable… can I pet his head?." It sounded like a question, but Kurah was already petting mamba's head. The snake looked so pitiful in the hands of the little girl who was molesting it from all angles.  She kept turning and turning it so that Lolita could swear her pet was dizzy right now.
Kurah turned the mamba around and examined the runes on its body intently. While in deep thought about the real identity of this supposed snake, she felt a vague sense of familiarity and deja vu as her eyes were fixed on the mamba. She didn't forget to occasionally pet the mamba while she was at it. Not that it did anything to stop how the snake was feeling at the moment, but Kurah wouldn't know. Even if she did, she didn't care much. Kurah needed to find out what it is exactly, as her curiosity took the better of her.
"Tell me… Lolly… What's the real identity of our young friend?..." She commented without any ulterior motive, but Lolita's eyes were filled with an emotion that Kurah didn't notice since her full attention was on mamba. On his side, the mamba was also seething with anger, as a little girl just described the five-century-old mamba as a 'young friend'.  Lolita could feel the emotions of mamba and could tell that he was really pissed.
Kurah's attention was on mamba for a while, until her phone suddenly rang to interrupt the silence in the room. She couldn't help wondering who it was that tried to interrupt her moment of illumination. She nearly caught onto something, only for the phone call to disrupt her trail of thoughts.
Kurah took in a deep breath and reached for her phone. At the same time, mamba swiftly wriggled its way out of her grip and was soon on Lolita's wrist, just like before.
[Ring!] [Ring!] [Ring!]
"Miss… I have something to report… M..Mi..ss… I think I'm in trouble… The alpha is angry with me… and I don't know if… if… if he would call for my head any moment from now… please help me… miss… I…" Kurah took quick steps out of the room and asked in a cold voice, "what do you mean by that?... Drucilla… Are you by any chance… telling me that… My brother is an emotionless monster?"
Drucilla was scared by Kurah's sudden outburst, but she wouldn't have her think that she was merely cooking up stories about her elder brother. The situation would become direr if Drucilla finds herself in the bad books of Kurah. The Alpha is outright scary, as everyone treads extremely cautiously around him.
However, Kurah on the other hand is a more dangerous entity as far as Drucilla is concerned. She is a loving and easygoing person who exudes a comfy vibe around her. Everyone is comfortable around her until they step on her toes. Alpha Gavin would be swift with his kill, but Kurah would make it slow and painful. Someone who was so vested in poisons that she could kill Drucilla in a thousand ways without her knowledge.
Drucilla loves the relationship she has with Kurah, someone who treats her like an equal, and she wouldn't wish to be in her bad books for any reason at all.
"Miss Kurah… I swear I'm not making things up!" Drucilla could be heard saying tearfully. Kurah, however, couldn't help herself by asking her, "Are you swearing to me that my brother has become a monster?" As she spoke, Kurah was seen pacing back and forth, as she was terrified of what Drucilla was saying.
Apparently, her worst fears have come through. However, she thought that if she prevented Drucilla from saying it, it would make it untrue in a way. For the first time in her life, Minnie Kurah Smith chose to play dumb.
She fears her elder brother has lost it, allowing his dark side to consume his being, a side effect of the poison on werewolves. Her brother didn't only get cured of decay which vandalized his system, he also decided to forcefully  Shapeshift.
Moreover, Kurah was panicking, all the while blaming herself for leaving her brother at the mercy of other people when she should have been there to monitor his progress and nurse him back to perfect health.
With her great sense of hearing, Lolita unconsciously listened to her friend's conversation, as she could feel her erratic emotions. She couldn't help wondering what could make Kurah so worked up. Suddenly she heard the caller say, "Miss Kurah… please listen to me first… okay!... Everything happened this way…"
