"Welcome to Dark-Dawn Avenue! I'll be your guard, your chauffeur, and your call-to guy in case you need anything. What I'm saying is, I'm your only contact in Wolftown where we are headed. Everyone, you can call me Tom." The young wolf dedicated to the group had just been given the chance to take the outsiders around his home country, and he couldn't be any happier. His excitement made him blubber non-stop. Fiona couldn't hold in her displeasure as she blurted out carelessly, "What the heck? Are they trying to make us crazy?" She rolled her eyes afterward and looked elsewhere, as a result, everyone caught onto what she wanted to say, except Tom. To dissuade the tense atmosphere, The Team Leader quickly walked to Tom and offered his hand. "Hello, nice to have you show us around. Please take good care of us!" Everyone on the team rolled their eyes in their heads as they all tried to imagine how Tom was going to take them around peacefully, without saying too many unnecessary things that might as well drive them crazy. They might as well plug in their headphones if the dude decided to continue talking. At that moment, Professor Mason and Master Kai approached the group after clearing everyone and ensuring that all their equipment was safe and in their possession. The team leader quickly introduced Tom to the men and the group left the airport. Lolita wasn't interested in anything the group was saying or doing. She was rather frowning now and then, as she realized that she couldn't pick up any signal on her phone or other devices. Her signal jammer didn't detect any other jammers in the vicinity either, which only means that Dark-Dawn Avenue is more complicated than she thought. "Interesting…" She mouthed under her breath and continued to explore on her inconspicuous devices. A country where even the phone or internet activities of the people are closely monitored wouldn't be so simple. She already deduced that they would be connected to a common network later on. As a result, everything they do would be monitored. If Lolita decided to do any snooping around, she would need to be extra careful and erase her traces as quickly as possible. The recent developments didn't deter Lolita in the slightest bit. If for anything, she felt more challenged to act. Inactivity would be a great disservice to herself. The group moved to their waiting van, as Tom led the way enthusiastically. The guys in the team got to work and immediately moved their equipment. After making about five trips to and fro the bus, the group was finally ready to move. Lolita faintly heard a commotion among some new group of students who just arrived. They were mocking her and wondering if she was just there to watch, as she looked too young to be as much as a sophomore. Unknown to them, that is exactly what she is. Some even spoke of how unfair the organizers were to have allowed room for some teams to bring spectators, as theirs couldn't even bring anyone to even handle chores. Some other groups even went as far as saying that she may be the daughter of the school principal who was permitted to join the group and witness the event. She heard everything but was more concentrated on how to hack the systems at the place without being caught. The other students would have been thoroughly shocked if they knew that Lolita could hear everything they were saying from so far away. There were about thirty competing schools. Each school had its participants for the various categories, and some schools had people partake in all the scheduled activities also. Others only prepared their students for a few activities. However, they were not allowed to fall short of participants in more than two categories. The team from Green Crest had participants in all categories, and this time, Master Kai intended to use his ace card, Lolita, to sweep as many awards as possible. The ride to their place of residence was uneventful and surprisingly quiet. Tom didn't say as much as a single word since the two men arrived. He quietly led the group to their house. The place was a five-story mansion that had tons of rooms, a garden, a cinema room for fifty people, and a practice area. The group would be confined in their space until they needed to move toward the tournament venue somewhere in Wolftown. Everyone was trying to select someone to pair with as a roommate. Even Fiona found a roommate. Lolita on the other hand could be seen pressing her phone without joining the exercise. When everything was settled, Tom handed the students to the butler in the mansion. "Hello children, welcome to Wolftown. I'm your butler for the next few days. You all can just call me Butler." Master Kai and Professor Mason shared a brief look and averted their gazes as if nothing happened. They both had the same thought in their minds. "Children?..."
The butler then moved to supervise some chores, leaving the group to settle down. Before that, Master Kai monitored Lolita from the corner of his eyes and still felt frustrated that he couldn't read the sixteen-year-old. Even those who were older than her were behaving like kids, however, the real kid among them was behaving like an adult. He thought that Lolita was behaving too seriously for her age, which only meant that the girl had something to hide. Master Kai reminded himself for the umpteenth time that he had no reason to attempt digging into Lolita's identity. Unknown to him, Lolita had the mental capacity of three strong women who were all not less than five hundred years old. He subtly cleared his throat to get her attention, and he succeeded. Lolita looked around awkwardly and realized that she was the only one still standing in the hall. She only cast her questioning gaze on Master Kai, who then introduced Lolita to the Butler. He couldn't understand why everyone they came into contact with decided to use an alias or their mere titles. Things had not been this way in the past years. Besides, they all used to stay in one large hotel where the students could easily build connections. However, every group was rather placed in a mansion with no outsiders among them. "Butler, this is Lolita, one of our participants. She wouldn't be comfortable staying in a room with anyone, so kindly show her a room she could occupy alone." The butler looked at Lolita and squinted his eyebrows. He could tell that Lolita looked familiar, however, the information received showed that it was her first time stepping into Wolftown. He initially wanted to brush it off, thinking his old age caught up with him. However, seeing her nonchalant look, coupled with the special treatment she received with such ease, he decided to keep an eye on her. He would rather observe her for a while before coming to a conclusion. Lolita pretended not to have felt the man's probing eyes on her, nor did she take the initiative to be cordial with him. She didn't have a good impression of the place anyway. The butler could only act as normal as he could, "Sure. please come with me" Everyone was finally in their rooms, and Lolita decided to plan her stay. As a result, she needed to know what venom could bring to the table. She would be damned to believe that venom was just an ordinary snake. *** "Tell me something I wish to know." Gavin declared icily. The investigator immediately began to tremble, as he felt that the news he brought wasn't what the Alpha needed to hear. "Erm.. I.. I…" The fluent genius as he was praised since childhood, suddenly began to stammer. His cowardice irked Gavin so much that he felt like silencing the fool for good. Gavin didn't even have to say another word, as Ortiz quickly drove the investigator out and exited with him, only to return with the same news Alpha didn't wish to hear. Suddenly, Drucilla rushed in and declared in a higher pitch than necessary, "My Lord, she.. she's awake." ***
