Chapter Nine

"Mar, what are you doing here?" I asked him softly when he suddenly appeared in front of me in the middle of the library. His face was so close to mine that I could almost smell his breath.
He even put his mouth to my ear and then spoke. "I'll study you more so that even if I close my eyes, I know you're just around."
His warm breath caught my ear which made my hair stand on end on my neck. I no longer knew how to hide the thrill so I lightly punched him on the side while smiling.
"Shut up, we're in the library, Ma. You're so cheesy!" I said even though deep inside I was melting.
"I don't know why when it comes to you, I get corny." He turned his face away from me, then gave me his seductive wink.
“Is it still my fault? You were just corny before,” I returned.
"Who taught me corny things back then?" He looked at me meaningfully.
I laughed, then bowed for a moment. "Yes, it's me," I agreed. Because I used to give Mar lines for the women he was dating and those lines were super corny.
"Oh Mar?"
I was so shocked and my heart almost fell to the floor because of Jame's sudden appearance. Mar also quickly walked away from me.
"J-jame?" Mar said.
"I thought you weren't going to the library?" Jame asked in astonishment.
“Ah! I thought I just had to come here," Mar replied.
I can't speak and look at Jame. I don’t know what she came up with.
"Oh, you're here to Jan?" She turned to me.
I turned to her and forced a smile. "Yes, I will do an assignment here," I replied.
“Assignment with Mar?” she asked.
I don't know but I was nervous and turned to Mar. Why does she seem to know something about our relationship?
"No, we've just met here," I reasoned.
“Oh? Destined to meet each other, huh?"
I just forced a smile because of Jame's strange words. "All right, I'll be ahead of you," I said goodbye without looking away from that place. I also breathed a sigh of relief and frowned. I don’t trust that woman
-
"Looks like your face can't be painted. Why you're frowning?" Ken commented to me as we ate in the cafeteria.
I looked at him for a moment and then turned back to what I was eating. "It's just annoying because those people love to ruin the moment," I said, referring to Jame.
"Huh?" Ken just frowned.
“Nothing,” I said.
"Who are you referring to who ruined the moment?"
"You don't exist–" I couldn't finish what I was about to say when my eyes caught sight of Mar and Jame who had just entered, who both seemed happy with each other.
My blood boiled even more so that it burned Jame's whole being. I was annoyed with Mar who seemed to be happy with that woman. I bit my lip.
“Hey, maybe the spoon and fork will break, Jan. Hey!"
I avoided Mar's place when I saw him look at me. I quickly swallowed food, one after another causing me to cough.
“Water, water! Take it easy, Jan, you're not in the food eating contest.” Ken laughed.
I did not speak. I was annoyed and I wanted to approach Mar and kiss him to tell that woman that I was the man that Mar was flirting with.
“What do you want to do, Jan? Do you want us to cripple Mar?”
I turned seriously to Ken and narrowed my eyes at him. "I can cripple you, do you want to?"
“Opps! I am on your side so why are you angry with me,” he said laughing.
I placed my palms on him to slap him. "You're crazy," I said. I took his spoon and put rice on it. "Oh, just eat there." I poured him a spoonful of rice.
I just laughed at Ken who could barely speak with the amount of food in his mouth.
-
“Hey, Jan! Jan! ”
I stopped walking but did not turn to a man who called my name. I'm still annoyed with Mar.
"I've been chasing you for a while," he said when he came to me.
"I know," I replied coldly without looking at him. The students in the whole school are about to go home and are almost exhausted.
"You've been like that before, did something happen?" He gently turned to me.
"Why don't you ask yourself what happened?"
Mar was immediately silent. "Is it because of Jame?" he asked directly.
I did not speak. I heard Mar's weak laugh. "Are you jealous?"
"No, I'm happy," I replied sarcastically.
"Jan, there's nothing you should be jealous of," he said tenderly.
I imitated what he said in a whisper while bowing. "You know people like her and you keep on approaching her."
"Jealous girlfriend, huh?" I just felt him hug me. “This is how you feel when the person you love is jealous. You feel his love for you more. But I assure you, I'm yours." Mar's statement was even sweeter.
The annoyance and jealousy I was feeling suddenly disappeared. I suddenly smiled.
"Even if you're having so much fun with that Jame?" I still seem to be jealous.
Mar broke away from the hug and faced me. "But I'm more than happy with you, Jan," he returned.
A smile flashed on my lips that almost covered my whole face. "I know you're happier with me." I hugged him tightly. Because he is taller than me
I looked up at him. "Because of what you said, I am happy now and I trust you with all my heart." I smiled at him.
“Don't be so cute in front of me, I might not be able to control myself and kiss you," he said laughing.
I quickly hid my face in his body. "I'm not being cute, I'm just cute," I said.
"All right, yes you're cute," he agreed and hugged me back.
He took my hands, then smiled at me. We have already started walking. The other students were no longer there.
"Why did you have so much fun in the cafeteria with that Ken earlier, huh?" said Mar.
I turned to him. "I'm happy every time I'm with Ken because he's a kind of person with a sense of humor," I confess.
I saw the sadness on Mar's face. "Why do you still stay with the boring person?" Referring to himself.
I smiled. "Yes, I'm happy with Ken but the happiness you bring is nothing compared," I said happily.
Gradually Mar's face became happy because of what I said. “But don't expect that Ken and I will be okay. I still watch him and I don't trust him."
I was just shaken. “Ken won't do anything bad to me. He's a nice guy, okay?”
"Just, I have a bad feeling about that man."
"Is that so?"
I let go of his hand and hurried to walk. I hate Mar for his immaturity when it comes to Ken.
"Jan," he called but I ignored him.
"It's up to you, talk to yourself so you can get along," I said angrily.
"Fine! Ok, I'll try to get along with that man," I heard him say.
I stopped walking. "Just make sure of that, Mar," I assured.
"Y-yes, promise." He even raised his right palm as a sign of his promise.
I hope that will be true so everything between the three of us will be peaceful as well.
