DEVON Why on Earth was he asking me that? How the hell does he know about Theodore. Someone must've told him, but who? Maybe, Liam? Besides, Liam only knows that my exboyfriend's name was Theodore. He'd heard me calling his name whenever I had nightmares. I bit my lower lip, debating on whether I could tell him or not. So, I went with the latter. I slowly typed in a reply and hit 'send'. 'No, I don't. Why are you asking?' His reply came shortly. 'Forget it. It's not important' I shrugged and turned to focus on the TV. He didn't send anymore messages. Later, Liam drove by to pick me up. I was wearing a fitted blue dress that ended above my knee and black heels that complimented my dress. "You look beautiful" Liam said giving me a kiss.I smiled and got into his car. Liam, my boyfriend for over six months was a handsome hunk. He had brown hair that was a shade, darker than his eyes. His British accent was really prominent due to the fact that he'd lived in Leicester most of his life and had just moved to Arizona barely a year ago. He was the kind of guy most ladies would drool over. I'd met him in a party which Karla had literally forced me to attend. He'd immediately revealed the fact that he found me interesting. It was a bit scary at first and I'd avoided him several times but he was persistent. He never gave up.He was egoistic but his affection towards me was amazing. I keep feeling guilty for not loving him the way he loved me. I could only hope that things would get better. As I sat in his car with him sitting beside me, I felt bad for the way I'd treated him earlier on the phone. "Lee, I'm really sorry about how I acted earlier. I was just in a foul mood but thankfully Karla helped cheer me up" I said.He smiled and squeezed my hand gently."Don't push me away next time, okay? Whenever you feel so low, I want to be there for you" he said, his chocolate brown eyes lighting up.I gave him a smile and kissed his cheek. He drove off but I started to get uncomfortable. I felt guilty. I felt like I was cheating on Theo. I stared at the dove ring around my index finger; the one Theo had given to me with blood stains on it. I could still see some of the dry blood on the ring and it immediately brought tears to my eyes. How could I not have noticed the blood stains until now? The golden ring began to glow faintly and I let out a gasp. "Are you okay?" Liam asked. I blinked back the tears and covered the ring with my other hand. Forcing out a smile, I said" I'm fine, Liam" He didn't look convinced but decided not to press further, thankfully. We got to his club and we met up with his friends. "Lee, I'll be right back. I need to use the bathroom quickly" I said, giving him a kiss. I grabbed my purse and hurried towards the restroom. My ring was still glowing and the tight feeling in my chest worsened. I felt so.....sad and heartbroken. But most of all, It was weird because none of the emotions were mine. The feelings vanished as soon as they'd come and I found myself wondering if it was just some sick joke.I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My blue eyes were still the same, lips coated with a bright red lipstick. I didn't feel like me. I felt so different. I ran a hand through my hair and took a deep breath. I know it's so hard to adapt to the changes in my life but I've got to put on my big girl panties and face it head on. I wiped away the tears from the corners of my eyes with the wipes I'd carried with me. Theo would want me to be happy. That's why I'm going to be happy. I left the bathroom with a smile on my face. Liam placed his hand around my waist and gave me a drink. "You okay, babe?" He asked."I'm great" I said, giving him a bright smile. He brought his own glass of wine to mine and said, "To us" "To us" I said as our glasses clinked. We both brought our glass of wine to our lips and I was prepared to relax and have fun. ************ SHEA I sat at the foot of my bed, my head resting on the edge of the bed as I stared at the ceiling blankly. I couldn't sleep and there was a heaviness in my heart. I was frustrated. Three years is enough to move on with my life and perhaps, start over. It felt almost impossible. Moving on felt so wrong. The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became. Devon had denied knowing anyone with the name 'Theodore'. Did it mean, she wasn't the one from my dreams? I let out a sigh and grabbed the sleeping pills from the top of my nightstand. Shortly after I'd taken the pills, I began to feel sleepy. I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes. "Do you want to talk about it?" I asked Devon when she'd calmed down. She buried her head in my neck and let out a shaky breath. "Thinking about it gives me the chills" she said. "You were with Barza but then you.... wanted to jump off a cliff. You refused to listen to me and I couldn't stop you from going with her. Your eyes were..." She hesitated, a shudder running through her."My eyes were what?" I asked, cautiously."Pitch black-- like Kayden's when he was possessed" she whispered, her voice small and fragile. My heart sank "What happened next?" I dared to ask."You became me and I watched myself jump off the cliff" she whimpered. I was worried at that point. I had a feeling that it wasn't just a dream and I'll be damned if I let anything happen to her."Do you sincerely believe that?" She asked."Believe what?" I asked."Believe that--it was just a dream?" She asked.I stared at our entwined fingers, knowing that I couldn't lie to her."No" I replied. She heaved a sigh."You should also know that I would never let anything happen to you" I said and she nodded. She gazed into my eyes with a smile, gracing her lips."I trust you. I just do" she said, embracing me.I smiled, holding her in my arms. "How did the meeting go?" She asked me and I shrugged."The new head of the Hexagon, Thane asked me to become his assistant" I said. She gasped."No way!" She said."I didn't believe it at first but he meant it""Did you agree?" She asked."I don't know, Dev. I asked him to give me sometime to think. Being his assistant would require me being a lot more active in the Hexagon" I said. She nodded."What do you think I should do?" I asked."I think you should think it through,Theo. I mean we don't know what his true intentions are. We have to be careful but, I don't think he's going to be trouble" she shrugged. When I awoke, I wrote the dream in my journal. The blue eyed girl in my dream was definitely Devon. I had taken my bath and gotten dressed when my phone buzzed. A new message from Devon was displayed on the screen.'I'm really sorry about the way I've been acting. It's just that I have a boyfriend and you remind me of someone I lost three years ago' Three years ago....This was not just any coincidence. 'It's fine, I understand. What I don't understand is why you lied to me ''About what?' 'About Theodore' 'What?' 'The person you lost....his name was Theo, wasn't it?' 'I'm sorry, Shea. I really don't want to talk about Theo' 'I understand. I'm sorry for bringing up such a sensitive topic' Her reply came three minutes later. 'It's fine' I smiled, quickly typing a reply. 'Can we meet up now? That is if you're free ' 'I'm sorry I can't. I'm supposed to go out on a date with my boyfriend in a few minutes' I rolled my eyes and dropped my phone on the couch. Of course she was lying. I don't know how I knew that but I could tell that she was lying. I needed to go grocery shopping, I'd run out of groceries. ********************** DEVON The moment Shea had asked me to meet up with him, I'd panicked. I had immediately regretted it. I'd lied to him again and I felt guilty. My mum and I had a video chat ten minutes later. "Dev, honey. How are you?" She said, grinning. Her hair that used to be so long was now in a cute bob. Her smile was still the same."I'm great, mum" I said, giving her a smile."That's wonderful. How's Liam?" "He's fine" "It's been a while since you called and I was starting to get worried. I hope you're not being stressed out by college stuff?" "I'm doing just fine. I also have two part time jobs at a coffee shop and a restaurant" I said. Shit, I shouldn't have said that. "Devon, please tell me you haven't been overworking yourself because you've still not gotten over Theo?" "Mum... I'm not... I promise"She sighed. "Are you still having the nightmares?" "Not really" I said, grimacing at myself. "Devon, it's not healthy, you know that" "Mum, you don't have to worry about me. I'm fine" "How's Dad?" I asked. My dad was diagnosed with a heart disease two years after Theo died. "We were at the hospital two days ago" she said. "Mum! Why didn't you tell me?" I said. "I didn't want to get you worried. The doctor said he's not in any critical condition at the moment. He'll be fine" "Okay, then" "Melvin wants to speak to you" she said."Melvin's home?" I asked, my eyes wide. "Of course, he came home last night" Melvin's face came into view and I gasped. He looked a bit different. His hair was longer than usual, his eyes were two different colors as if he had heterochromia. One of his eyes was blue, the other one was green. "Hey, lil sis" he said, smiling. "Mel, what happened to your eyes?" I asked. "Long story short, I'm a seer and my abilities seem to have improved" "No way. It looks cool on you though""I know. Allen is jealous"he said and I laughed."How have you been, Dev?" He asked."I-" "Wait, don't say it. You're fine and you've moved on with Liam" I glared at him. Of course, that's exactly what I was going to say. "Mel, you're annoying sometimes" I said and he rolled his eyes."You love me anyway. Devon, don't try to change who you are. I mean you're half fae but you've been lying a lot within the past few days" "Melvin-" "I understand it's hard. The truth is that you've been lying to the wrong person" "How do you know that?" "I'm a seer, duh" "It's not like you haven't lied too" I said.He shrugged. "Why you lie isn't important. It's who you are lying to, Dev. Beware, a green eyed man" he said and the line went dead.
