DEVON "There's a prophecy that was made centuries ago about a monstrous creature known as the 'Afyrza'. Which means the silver beast--" Luke said. Blood drained from Theo's attractive face. "The silver beast can be anyone, male or female. It was said that after the transition ritual has been carried out, the beast becomes too strong to be defeated. Only two creatures can stop it and that is the 'Chymarr' and the 'Gymadoq'. The Chimaera and the Red Wolf" I swallowed hard, several thoughts surfacing in my mind. The silver beast sounded like something very dangerous. "At first, the prophecy was ignored. But then, Theo was born. When they found out that he was the Chimaera, they realized that the prophecy might infact be true. The problem is that up till this day, we don't know if the Red Wolf exists" "What power does the Red Wolf have?" I asked. "According to the ancient books, the Red Wolf is part of an ancient bloodline of powerful witches and Lycans. Meaning, the Red Wolf has powerful magic and can as well shift into it's wolf form." Theo said. "That's right, the difference between the Chimaera and the Red Wolf is that, the Chimaera has three different personalities apart from being human, whereas, the Red Wolf has three parts considered as one" Luke added. "The seer who came to me informed me that the silver beast has started it's hunt for it's transition ritual. For the ritual to take place, thirty mundanes and thirty faeries has to loose their lives during the blood moon" I gasped, eyes wide. "We have to stop whosoever it is then" I said."That's the problem, princess. The silver beast is made up of two persons. It can be two males or two females. It can also be a male and a female. I tried to trace one of them, I found some dark energy in this city" Luke said. "Shit, I think this makes everything worse. My powers are not back yet. It took three years for my memories to come back to me. What if I won't get back my powers until years later?" Theo said. "Relax. Your powers will be coming back to you soon. I'm worried about you though, it's going to hurt a lot more than it did when you were five and I'll have to give you the chimaera tattoo myself" Luke said.Theo sighed, rubbing his left eye. "Well that's fantastic" Theo said, sarcasm dripping from his voice heavily. ... Two weeks had passed and we were still having trouble tracing the other half of the silver beast. I attended the funeral of Liam's mum, offering him comfort as best as I could. Liam called me on Monday, asking if we could hang out. I agreed but then, I had a different agenda in mind. I was going to tell him the whole truth. I would be lying if I said I wasn't freaking out. By the time I got to Liam's apartment, my heart rate had doubled up. I know, I know. It's just really fucked up. I knocked on the door and he opened it with a smile on his face. He still looked tired and drained, with circles around his eyes. "Come in" he said and I walked in. He led me to the back of his house. What I saw there made me want to cry. I felt so heartbroken and guilty. There were bottles of wine, dessert and some other delicacies. There were fancy roses too. My stomach sank and I started to feel uneasy. "Sit" he said and I sat down, biting my lower lip. "Jeez, you're really tense, babe" he said. "Oh, sorry about that" I said. He looked at me, eyes wide. "Did you just apologise for being tense? You don't need to" he said and I nodded. He took a seat opposite me and soon we began to dine. He brought up several topics and each time I though it was time to tell him the truth, he would bring up another sensitive topic. All of a sudden, he went down on one knee and took out a red velvet box. My heart jumped into my throat and I felt the urge to scream. "Will you marry me, Devon Kathryn Bradley?" Tears filled my eyes and I promptly rose to my feet. "Liam--Oh my God....Liam, I'm so sorry" I choked out. He smiled. "You don't have to apologise, I know it's unexpected but I've been planning to do this for quite some time now" I gulped, more tears flowing down my cheeks."You don't understand-- I can't do this" I breathed. "What do you mean?" Liam asked, confused. "I-I can't marry you. I'm not good for you, Liam. You deserve someone better, Someone who wouldn't lie to you, someone who would love you as much as you love her. I've been lying to you, Liam. I don't love you. I-- I really like you but my heart belongs to someone else. It has always belonged to someone else even before you met me" "Is this about your ex?" "He was never my ex; he died but he's back" "Okay, I know you're probably still stressed. None of this makes sense, Dev" "No, you don't understand. I'm in love with Shea" He froze, the velvet box slipping out of his hand and falling to the ground with a dull thud. Liam slowly rose to his feet. He looked like he'd just been slapped. "What?" "Shea was my ex who died" I said, my voice trembling. "He was a faerie. But, he was killed by his uncle. Shea came back as a human with his memories gone. His memories are back now. Shea is my soulmate, Liam. I'm sorry, I can't marry you" I continued. He sighed, giving me an exasperated look. "You should've told me that you didn't love me in the first place. Why lie to me? And don't expect me to believe the bullshit you've just said about Shea" "I'm so sorry for lying to you all along, Liam. I was just scared. It just wasn't fair to you. There are things you don't understand. Fairies are not myths, they exist. You have to believe me. I feel horrible for doing this to you" I sobbed. He moved closer to me and embraced me. "You know that I don't like liars, Dev. I'm sorry If I made you feel like you had no choice but to lie to me. But, I'm still not convinced about what you told me" "Liam-" "I'm going to kill that bastard for taking you away from me" he said, hatred flashing in his eyes."No, please. Look, I know you're upset but it's not as if Theo can help it" Oh Crap. He frowned. "Who's Theo?" "Um-Theo is Shea. That's his real name. He had to go with Shea since he lost his memory" Liam clenched his jaw."Oh, he's so screwed" Liam spat, turning away from me. My heart shattered into a million pieces. This was all my fault. ************* THEO "If the silver beast has begun it's hunt, do you think Amyra is safe in the castle?" I asked Luke who looked anything but worried. "Oh, she's safe. Very safe in fact" he said, leaning back on the couch. "What do you mean?" I asked, cocking a brow. "She's actually here in Arizona" "Wait, what?" "I placed a protective spell around the four lands with the help of the elders. They insisted I find you and make sure you're safe" "For the millionth time, Luke. I don't need your protection" I sighed, rubbing my temples. He smiled. "I'm not just protecting you from yourself and others, I'm protecting others from you" he said. "Until I put the chimaera tattoo on you; that is, when your powers are back, you are a walking time bomb. Remember what happened when you nearly burned me to death?" "How can I ever forget that?" "That's how dangerous you are when you're untamed. The fact remains that you can't be tamed. The chimaera tattoo just helps you control yourself" "Right" I heard Devon drive in. She walked in, shortly. Her eyes were bloodshot, her nose pink. It didn't change how beautiful she was. "Woah, princess. Did he hurt you?" Luke asked, giving her a hug. She sniffled and shook her head. "He probably hates us now. He's really upset" I rose to my feet, embracing her as she exhaled shakily. "I'm scared" she whispered, closing her eyes. "What happened?" I asked. "Liam proposed to me" she said, her voice cracking at the end of her statement. "I refused and I told him the truth. He might be coming after you and I don't want you to get hurt" she whimpered and I stroked her long hair. "Everything's going to be fine" I said. She heaved a sigh. "I don't want you to start having more enemies, Theo. Liam would never understand that I told him the truth. We have to convince him--" "But he's just a human. How can we trust him enough to tell him that?" "Liam is a nice guy. He'll definitely freak out but he won't tell anyone else. It's not like anyone would believe him if he tells them anything" she said. "Wait, your exboyfriend's name is Liam?" Luke asked and she frowned. "Yeah" "I really think we should get him on our side. Making him our enemy would be disastrous, Theo" Luke said, running a hand on his hair. Devon raised a brow. "Since when did you become a seer?" Luke rolled his eyes. "FYI, I didn't foresee the future. It's purely instincts" "Right, your majesty" Devon said giving him a teasing smile. "Don't call me that" Luke groaned. "Why? Aren't you the king now?" "Not for long" "I'm going to pay Liam a visit today, if you two are done with bickering, you can quietly take a seat" I said. "Wait, what? Theo, I'm coming with you" Devon said, her eyes wide."Nope, you're not coming with me" "Fine, then I'm coming with you" Luke said and I glared at him. "No, you're not" I snapped. "You do know that you'll have to convince him that faeries actually exist. You'll need my help for that" I groaned. I might need him after all. ... A miserable Luke opened the door when I knocked on his front door. He was spotting dark bags beneath his eyes, with his hair resting flat on his head. His eyes widened when he saw me. "What the hell are you doing here?" He spat, his eyes burning with fury."I need to talk to you" I said. He glared at me for a moment."Fine, come in" he said, moving away from the door. Luke whistled when we walked into his expensively decorated house."What was that?" Liam asked "Nothing you should be worried about" I said, glaring at Luke. Liam still didn't look convinced."I'm pretty sure you're here to give me some more bullshit just like Devon did" he scowled."I know you want to hit me really bad. So, go ahead. Do it" I said, looking him in the eye. "W-what?" "Do I need to repeat myself?" I asked. With his jaw clenched, he punched me hard on the face. It really hurt but it was worth a shot. He kept hitting me until he let out an angry yell of frustration. Luke was watching him carefully. I wiped away the blood from my nose and sighed when I felt the slight pain in my ribs."It's really not her fault. If anything, I'm the one you should blame" "How romantic" I sighed, rubbing my forehead."Devon was right, Liam. Fairies exist and I was one of them" "Right, time for your fairytale" "I need you to believe me. You can't tell anyone about this" I said.He gave me a weird look."What're you going to do? Perform some magic?" "Luke, put down the glamour" I said and Liam's eyes widened.Luke removed the glamour, his silver eyes glowing brightly. Liam gasped."Oh shit, you're a fairy" "Of course, and just in case you want to pass out, do so on the couch, because I'm not going to carry you" Luke said. "Oh my God" was the last statement Liam said right before he passed out "Good to know that I'm that scary" Luke said, grinning. I heaved a sigh, giving him a pointed look.
