Edna feels a hot chill slowly engulfing her before completely taking over her. She feels an emptiness in her heart as she just processes the fact that Dimore won't be here every morning to pick her up to take her to work. He won't be in the car to crack jokes with her or compliment her new hairstyle. She is so stilled from the shock that she has to get a stronger grip around her phone because it is threatening to slip out of her grasp. "What?" She manages to say. " It has been three weeks now and I'm sorry because none of us have been bold enough to tell you. " Edna looks down at her feet. Not that her sharp red heels are interesting today, but she doesn't know where else to place them. "Who did that?" She asked. " Dimore works for me and me alone, why would anyone fire him without my consent? " She is silent for a while and it's because she knows that they both know the answer to this question of hers. " It was Mister Jackson himself, ma'am. " Kim informs her. " He came into the office and told Dimore to leave with him. The next thing I got was a text from Dimore. " Oh, poor Dimore. First, he went to jail because of her, now he doesn't have a job anymore and it's all because of her. Is she carrying bad luck or something? " You already have a new driver. " Kim adds as if to make her feel better. " He is on his way now. " "No, don't worry, I don't want to be driven. I will drive myself. " She sighs. It's still true that she hates driving, but if it comes to someone driving her, someone who isn't Dimore, then she is not ready for that. The thought of a strange face pulling up in front of her house with a nervous smile, the thought of that person going out of his way to please her irks her a lot. "Okay, ma'am. " Kim answers. " I will make the office ready for you. " Edna drops the call and walks back upstairs; she goes to the drawer by the bed and picks out a key. She picks out the Lamborghini, it's not her car, but Keith's. He would have been mad if she tried this in his presence, but he is not here. She makes her way to the garage and gets into the car. She drives away to the office, with her eyebrows bent in deep thoughts. The first thing she does when she walks onto her floor is to look for Dimore even though she knows that he is not going to be there. He used to be there to help her with her bag and if she is going for a meeting, he would be right by her side to encourage her. Now that he is gone, he has taken a huge part of her with him. She emptily walks to the office and Kim is right in it, she is putting everything in order and there is even a fresh vase of rose flowers. They are probably there to make her feel better but all she wants to do is toss them out through the window. Kim stands up straight and she bows slightly to Edna. "Welcome, boss. " Edna almost asks after Dimore and then it comes back to her that he is gone. He has been as close as her right hand and now he is not here anymore and it's like part of her is gone too. She goes to her seat and sinks into it. She looks over her table, there is so much work to be done. Once she drives right into it, she is going to forget about Dimore, she is going to forget about her pitying him. She runs her hands over her desk and inhales deeply. "Who brought those flowers?" She shuts her eyes loosely. " I think it's Mister Jackson. " Kim answers. " He sent someone to bring them, he said they are to work you back to work. " That name upsets every bone in her body right now. She can't believe that after all she did, the way she begged him to let Dimore be, he still chose to find another way to get him. "Take them. " She waves. " What do you want me to do with them?" A confused Kim asks. " I don't know, throw them away if you want, I just don't want to see them here. " Edna angrily instructs. Kik doesn't need to be told twice, she grabs the flowers and leaves the office immediately. Edna settles down and gets to work almost immediately. She starts going through files that need her attention but she finds herself zoning out now and then. She thinks that it's going to help that she has a lot of work to do, but it doesn't. Dimore keeps coming up in her head and she doesn't know what to do. She slams her fist against the table in frustration and walks out of the office. Kim is behind her desk and she looks up in surprise when she notices that her boss is walking out of the office. Edna doesn't say a single word to her as she walks away. She doesn't stop until she gets to Malik's office. His secretary lets her in without the need of informing him first and she walks into the office. He raises his head when he hears someone walk in but he frowns as soon as he sees her and continues working. She marches towards his table and stands right in his face. Even if he wants to ignore her, he can't. He drops his pen and looks at her with tired eyes. "Now what?" He asks. "I need your help. " She says. " I don't know what you can do about this, but you have to do something. " Now he frowns even deeper, he leans against his chair and takes a critical look at her. " Okay, but at least sit. " He points at the chair. She takes a seat, but that doesn't mean that she gets any relaxed. " What's the problem?" "It's Dimore. " She starts. " Your father has fired him and it's all because of me. " Edna watches as his frown gets, even more, deeper, and turns out that he is just as upset as she is about this. " Father fired someone without me knowing about it, that's new. " He comments. " When was this?" "Weeks ago. " She answers. " But I am just getting to know about it basically hours ago. " Malik looks worried, just like she is now. They will both find a way around this and she is sure that Dimore will be alright after this. " You want me to put him back in his former position?" Malik voices. "You can do it, right?" Edna asks. " I mean, you do that all the time, I don't want him to get hurt because of me. " " You want him to keep working for my father? The same man who took his job from him? What makes you think that he won't do it again? This is in fact his company. " Edna is quiet because he is saying the truth, a truth that she didn't think of before now. Malik is strong-willed and if he is determined enough, he can get Dimore back into his spot before the end of the day, but he is right about Mister Jackson. " What are you going to do?" She calmly inquires. " I don't know, maybe get him another job at a company around here." Malik suggests. " It's much better than working here where my father will be looking for an opportunity to frustrate him. " Well, that sounds like a good plan. She is going to miss Dimore, that's true, but one thing that is going to give her peace is knowing that he is going to be fine. " Will you get him a good job?" Edna looks at him. " The best he can get. " Malik assures her. " And I will let him know that you wanted it for him." Edna is cool with that. It's what she wants, she has gotten the peace already. It's with this same peace that she drives herself back home at the end of the day. She feels better knowing that Dimore is not suffering from losing his job. Just as she steps out of the car she gets a text and she stops to read it. It's from Malik and it simply reads; Dimore got the job and he is over the moon right now. He is very grateful to you and told me to tell you that. She smiles a fulfilled smile as she grabs her keys to unlock her door. She has hardly put the key in when she notices that the door is not locked, it can mean only one thing. Keith is back.
