Edna lays on her bed with a piece of tissue crumbled in her fingers. She has been staring into the emptiness in front of her for a long time and that's been her behavior for some days now. From the very moment, Malik told her that Keith wasn't ready to let her go, that was the beginning of her horror. Why? What does he still want from her? He has told her, times without number, that he hates her and would kill her if he has the chance so what she doesn't understand is what he still wants from her. Maybe he just wants her to be his forever, but the thing is that she can't even think of the fact of spending the rest of her life as his wife. She rolls over and lays on her tummy, pain shoots up from her tummy straight to her head, and she winches. She hasn't eaten for days, and she doesn't have an appetite, but she has been careful so that Malik and Mary won't find out. How can she eat knowing that Keith is doing everything in his power to make sure that she remains with him? Is she going to be able to survive this horror? She is trying to go back to her depressing thoughts, but her tummy keeps rumbling, and it's painfully empty. She gets up from the bed and heads to the kitchen. Maybe a small cup of coffee will do the magic because she isn't in the mood for food right now. She walks over to the coffee machine and sets a up underneath it and presses a few buttons and waits. She shuts her eyes and breathes slowly and that's when she hears a knock. Her eyes open and she looks around her, maybe the breeze from the window knocked against something and now it sounds like it was a knock. She is just about to conclude that it wasn't a real person at the door when she hears it again and this time around, it is accompanied with the sound of the doorbell. From where she is sitting in the kitchen, there is a clear sight of the door, she can see the lurking shadows, someone is at the door. Keith. Her heart shatters as she gets goosebumps all over her body. He has come to take her away, hasn't he? He knows that Malik's not home and she is going to be helpless. The knock keeps coming again and again and she feels like screaming for him to leave and let her be. She switches off the coffee machine and ignores the prepared coffee in the cup. She slowly stands up and minces her way to the front door. She looks at the opaque glass of the door and she feels the tension fizzle out of her like the aid out of a balloon. Whoever it is that is the door, that person is too short to be Keith plus, it's a woman. That doesn't mean that she is going to give all her trust to this mystery person, though. She opens the door only halfway and makes sure that all her weight is on her left foot that is behind the door. It's going to stop anyone from trying to force their way in. It's a pretty brunette who is at the door. Her bangs are so long that they are almost at her eye level and she parts them every second of the day. Her teeth shine as she smiles and waves her hand excitedly in Edna's face.
Edna doesn't return her warmth or even greet her. She stares at her from her head to her toes with a stand-offish glare. "Yes?" She raises her brow. " What can I do for you?" "Hi, my name is Emily. " Emily smiles a lot. " I'm a fashionista and a personal shopper and I have been sent here to assist you in shopping for some clothes. " "Clothes?" Edna tilts her head as the frown on her face grows, she doesn't remember either Malik or Mary saying anything about this to her. She smells foul play. " Mister Malik sent me. " Emily explains. " I was just hired like minutes ago and now I am here. " "He didn't tell me anything like that. " Edna tells her. " Maybe you should go away. " The smile on Emily's face goes away and she sighs, this is not the welcoming she expected. Edna doesn't want to trust her and her brightly colored clothes. She might be small and all sweet, but she could be someone Keith and his father sent. " I won't hurt you, I promise. " Emily says. " I'm just here so that you can tell me your cloth sizes and which kinda you prefer so that I can be on my way to the store. " As she speaks she reaches into her bag for something, it could be anything, her phone, a pen, a jotter...a gun... Edna takes another step into the house to protect herself. "Hey, stop reaching into your bag. " She warns her. " I will call the police if you don't stop doing that. " Emily freezes at the spot mostly from surprise and not from fear. She looks at Edna to see just how serious she is before she bursts into laughter. " Ma'am, I'm a four-foot brunette, I'm not going to hurt you. " She snickers. "Yeah. " Edna snorts. " And I know that because if you try to, I am going to chop your bangs right off. " The smile goes away again and Emily runs her hands over her bangs to make sure that they are still there. " If Malik sent you, then you won't mind if I go give him a call. " Edna says. " I will be back. " She shuts the door a little too loudly and walks back up the stairs. She grabs her phone and rings Malik. "Edna, hi. " "Malik, there is someone at the front door. " She reports. " She claims that she is a personal shopper that you but I don't trust her. " "Oh God, Edna, I'm sorry. " He sighs. " I should have called but I texted you, did you get my text?" Edna pauses for a minute, now she is lost. He hasn't picked up her phone the whole day and it has been on silent mode, she wouldn't have known if she got a text or a call. "So she is not here to kill me?" "Of course not. " He laughs. " I know just how much you dreaded going out because of the paparazzi and pictures so I got her for you. All you have to do is choose and she is going to go shopping for you. " That's very sensible, she has never thought of that. To think that Malik would do something like this for her is just too much, he is so nice. "Thanks. " She says. " I'm sorry for sharing your clothes with you all this time. " He laughs at the other end, a laugh that is infectious because she contacts it. "I'm not complaining about my clothes, I don't mind. " He says. " I just want you to have some nice ones of your own. " "I guess that makes sense. " She nods. " I don't want to hold you for too long, I see you when you get back. " " Alright, darling. Goodbye. " Edna pockets her phone and walks back to the door. She opens it wide enough and the lady is still there, her back against the and her phone in her hand. " See? I'm not a kidnapper or something. " She shrugs. " I'm sorry for treating you like that. " Edna apologize. " I am just going through some things and I get paranoid sometimes. " "It's okay, but it's odd because I clearly can't hurt you. " Emily gestures. " You would squash me. " Edna smiles. "Come in. I'm sorry for wasting your time. " Edna leads her in and shuts the door. " Wow. " Emily is lost looking around. " This is a very decent house. " Edna just smiles and leads her to the kitchen. She pulls a chair to sit and the girl does the same. The girl pulls out a laptop from her bag and sets it up on the table and begins to work on it. " Wow. " Edna huffs. " You came prepared, didn't you?" The lady looks up and ruffles her bangs. " I came up with a few styles that I like, I was thinking it would be easier that way. " She defends herself. " I'm not trying to be a bitch or anything, but I don't have anywhere to go in those fancy dresses. " Edna taps her fingers against the table. She stands up and opens the refrigerator. The handle remains in her hand as she looks at the content of the fridge. " Do you want a Coke?" " Sure. " She grabs it and hands it to Emily who thanks her. She helps herself to the coffee she made a few minutes ago. Emily sips from her coke and scrolls through her laptop. " You think that this is not enough?" She asks as she turns the laptop to face Edna. There are beautiful designs of some dresses and God, they truly are beautiful. " I still have some. Your husband said that you would like them. For dinner at his dad's today. " Edna feels her teeth clam together and the coffee that has gone into her mouth goes back into the cup. She looks up in horror, what's this lady talking about? "What did you say?" She demands to know. " Your husband. " Emily says again. " He said you needed something for dinner with his Dad. " Wait, Mister Jackson invited them over for dinner? Even with all that is happening?
