Chapter Thirty Seven

"I have news. Drake, the demon lord visited the school today." Crystal bowed as she said that.
Queen Lucinda sprung up from her seat, her beautiful face turning cold and deadly. She held onto her Sceptre and her handless yellow gown kissed the marble floor.

"What the hell did he come there to do?" She asked.
"I think he came for princess Cassandra. No doubt he is aware of her powers and wants her to work with him," Crystal said.
"That can never happen! We must not allow him get to her first," Queen Lucinda hit her Sceptre on the ground. "Does he have anyone working for him?" Queen Lucinda asked.
"Yes. Remember the day we had a fight with the demons? The two people we fought with are his minions, but I haven't seen them in a while." Crystal said.
Queen Lucinda chuckled and sat down. "Why don't we pay them a visit?" She smirked.
"But_"
"No buts, Crystal. It is either I kill the pathetic demon or no one gets the throne!" Queen Lucinda snapped.
"Yes, your highness." Crystal bowed.
"Good. Now, summon Yvonne for me. I will be needing a bit of her alley magic. I must take over the realm and become unstoppable," Queen Lucinda said.
"Yes, my Queen." Crystal bowed and disappeared.

After they finished taking the ice cream, Cassie insisted that they hung out there for a while.
"Now that we have today for ourselves, why don't you tell me about yourself?" Cassie asked, which surprised Kash a bit. He had stayed with her for more than a month and it's now she wants to know about him? He wondered if she was starting to fall for him.
"What do you want to know?" He asked.
"Everything." She smiled.
"Why don't you ask and I'll answer?" He requested.
"Okay. My first question is, what position do you hold in your family?" She asked.
"I'm the last son of my father." He answered.
"Age?"
"I have a supernatural age and the Earth's age. Which do you wanna hear?" He asked.
"Both." She answered.
"I'm 300 in supernatural years and 19 on Earth." He answered and she gasped.
"300? Does that mean that you're old when you turn to your supernatural form?" She asked.
Kash laughed. "Stop being silly. I'm not old in my supernatural form. My father is more than a thousand years old and have you seen him?" Kash asked rhetorically.
She felt relieved but she still doubted him. What if he was lying so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable around him? She looked at him for a while to see if she would notice a trace of aging but she didn't. These were times she wished she could hear his thoughts.
"That's cool. How many brothers do you have?" She asked.
"I have 3 brothers and a sister," He said.
"Are they guardians as well?" She asked.
"Yes, but my sister has not been given someone to guard yet." He answered.
"I would love to see your sister someday. She must be very beautiful," Cassie said.
"Yes, she is but we don't really get along well." He smiled.
"Why?" Cassie asked.
"Don't take it the wrong way. I love her but she gets on my nerves because I'm the youngest. I know she loves me too but we're too stubborn to show each other that love. We prefer bickering," He said and they laughed.
"She must be very nice then."
"Yeah, she is." Kash replied.
"I have only heard about your father. What about your mother?" Cassie asked.
The smile on Kash's face disappeared immediately the words left Cassie's mouth. Cassie turned and saw that his face had changed. Did she cross the line?
"Kash, I_"
"I'd rather not talk about it." He said and Cassie nodded.
The atmosphere was gloomy for a while.
"Let us go home," She said. Kash nodded and stood up. He led the way out of the shop and they walked home silently. Cassie couldn't understand why his expression changed to a sad and angry one immediately she mentioned his mother. Maybe he didn't like to talk about her or was she dead? Did she abandon him? All these questions juggled in her head as she watched him.
When they got home, he turned to face her. "I won't be staying tonight. Extend my greetings to Aunt Maggie," He said and without waiting for her reply, he walked away.
Cassie sighed and opened the door. She met Aunt Maggie going through some files.
"Good evening, Aunt." She greeted.
Aunt Maggie looked up from what she was doing and smiled. "How was school today?" She asked.
"It was fine."
"I thought you would never come home," Aunt Maggie said.
"Oh, I asked Kash to take me to where I can eat some ice cream." Cassie replied.
"Okay. Where is he?" Aunt Maggie asked.
Cassie sighed and sat down on the couch. "He left. Said, he won't be staying here tonight." She answered.
"He left? Did you guys get into an argument?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"No. I think I crossed the bounds." Cassie sighed.
Aunt Maggie gasped. "Did you kiss him?" She asked.
"No!" Cassie answered immediately. "Aunt, why would you ask that? I am not that naughty. Why would I kiss him?" Cassie asked and covered her already red cheeks.
Aunt Maggie chuckled. "Then what happened?" She asked.
"I asked him to tell me about himself and I made a mistake of asking about his mother. It seems he doesn't like to talk about her, because his expression changed immediately," Cassie said.
Aunt Maggie sighed. "Yeah. Maybe it hurts to talk about her."
"But she is his mother."
"We don't know why, Cassie. Let us respect his decision, okay?"
"Okay, Aunt. But I'm worried. Is he angry at me?" She asked.
"No. He just needs some time to clear his head," Aunt Maggie said. "Now go freshen up. I'll go make dinner,"
"No, Aunt. You're busy with work. I'll be the one to make dinner," Cassie said.
"No, thanks. You almost burnt down the house the last time you made dinner." Aunt Maggie said.
"But, it's_"
"No, young lady." Aunt Maggie shook her head.
"Fine!" Cassie said and stood up.

Aunt Maggie chuckled and returned to her work.
That night, Cassie couldn't stop thinking about how Kash was feeling. She was worried about him as she tossed and turned on the bed she was lying on. She didn't know where he was, if not she would have gone to see him. Cassie couldn't wait for daybreak.
Kash on the other hand stood in his invisible form, watching her turn on the bed. He heard her thoughts loud and clear and couldn't help but smile.
"She cares," He said and sat down on the chair in the room.

Asher went to the rooftop of their house and stood, watching the city. He wanted to clear so many thoughts and worries from his head. One of which was Cassie. He had tried but couldn't stop thinking about her. He knew he was falling more and more for her and it's unbearable to see her hanging out with another guy.
"Still thinking about her?"
Asher turned and saw his mother beside him.
"You really don't know what privacy means, huh?" He asked with a small smile.
"Not if you're my son. I want to stop reading your mind, but my curiosity always takes the best of me," She said.
"I've got to stop thinking then," Asher said and she chuckled.
"If you really like her, why not tell her how you feel?" She suggested.
"I want to but there are some many obstacles in my way. Her guardian is stuck to her like butter on bread and trust me when I say he doesn't like me at all." Asher put his hand on his forehead and sat on a stool there.
"Why not try getting close instead of making advances?"
"He won't let me and I don't wanna get into a fight with him. It'll make me look bad," Asher said.
Brittany smiled at how much her son had changed. She knew how ruthless and inconsiderate Asher was but look at him, being all soft.
"The school dance is coming up. Why not use that opportunity? Well, students don't know yet, so you can ask her to be your date before anybody else. That way, you can tell her how you feel, since it's gonna be only the two of you." She said.
Asher's face lit up. "Thanks mum. You're the best."

DIEGO'S APARTMENT
Diego stepped into his small apartment and dropped his bag. He had gone out for a run and wanted to settle down to sleep, hoping the nightmares wouldn't disturb him this time. He switched on the lights and took his parents photo and used his thumb to trace on it.
"Kash is going to train me. I will become stronger and get my revenge. Your deaths won't be in vain," He said and returned the picture to the shelf.
He turned and gasped at who he saw.
"Do you think I'm going to wait and see you get trained? Haven't you heard of the saying, 'Catch Them Young'?"
"Master Drake! Stay away from me." Diego moved back but two people held him. He turned to see Mia and Ian. He struggled but they held him tight.
"Don't worry. I just need your body to carry out my mission. If you're alive when I'm done, then you can exert your revenge." Drake said as he approached Diego.
"Stay away from..."
Diego's remaining words got stuck in his mouth as Drake took control of his body.
