Chapter Thirty Nine
"Do not dress like this to school again. It is making guys lose their minds,"
Cassie gasped at his words and looked around. It was indeed true. All eyes were on her. She was about to yell that she dressed that way because of him but refrained from doing so.
"I see what's going on here," Neil smirked.
"Hey Kash, why are you covering her with your jacket? Are you her boyfriend perhaps?" One of the guys asked as he walked towards where Kash stood with Cassie.
Kash stood in front of Cassie and faced the guy.
"I don't see her having any problem with it." Kash answered.
"You haven't answered my question." He snapped.
"Your question does not deserve an answer," Kash said and held Cassie's wrist. "Let's go." He said but the guy stopped him.
"Where do you think you're going?" He asked.
The students gasped and gathered around with their phones. If it was gonna be a fight, they wouldn't miss getting it on camera.
Kash removed the man's hand from his clothes. "Leave while I'm being nice," He said calmly but the guy just chuckled.
"What are you gonna do... Beat me?" He asked.
"Stop that!" Cassie snapped at the guy.
"Hey, beauty." He smiled and wanted to touch her but Kash slapped his hand away.
"Don't make me lose my temper." Kash was trying to maintain his cool but the guy was proving stubborn.
"Is this guy asking for his death?" Neil frowned and balled his fists. He headed straight for the guy. Kash signaled him to stop but he refused.
The guy was about to push Kash but suddenly stopped and passed out. The students gasped, not understanding what had happened. Neil looked at his hands and smiled. That was his power, he could attack you in a swift moment and you wouldn't see him coming. It was only Kash that could stop him... sometimes.
Cassie who saw what Neil did gasped. "Don't worry, princess. He isn't dead," Neil said and Cassie smiled. Some students, including his friends came and rushed him to the school clinic.
"Oh my gosh! Kash is so cool!"
"Did you see what just happened?"
"He looked like a badass!"
"He is a badass!"
"Marry me, Kash!"
"He's so dreamy!"
"I stopped the bad guy. Why are they giving you the credit? Not fair!" Neil pouted.
"Excuse us for a moment," Kash said to Neil and dragged Cassie to an empty classroom. He made her sit down and she bent her head. He squat to her level and raised her jaw up with his index finger.
"Can you tell me what this is all about?" He asked.
"I'm sorry," She said.
"That isn't the answer to my question," Kash said.
Cassie pressed her lips together. Is he that angry at her? He hasn't talked to her like this before? Could it be because of his mum?
"I thought it'd look good on me. I didn't know it would draw too much attention," Cassie said. "I'm sorry. It was all my fault that the guy tried to humiliate you."
Kash looked at her innocent face and sighed. His eyes darted to her lips and he shook off the urge to kiss her. He left her jaw and stood up. He turned to face the wall as he thought of what to say to her. He didn't want to let her off the hook easily even though he wanted to. He stiffened when he felt someone wrap her hands around his waist and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Cassie." He called.
"I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have brought up your mother yesterday; I shouldn't have dressed like this today as well. Don't be mad at me anymore, please." She pleaded.
Kash couldn't think of what to say. Her closeness sent tingling feelings down his spines and his heart fluttered. He couldn't comprehend whether she was doing this because she loved him or because she was sorry. Cassie on the other hand enjoyed the warmth his body gave her. She suddenly felt cold and saw that he had removed her hands from his waist. She was slightly hurt. Didn't he love her?
"I've heard your apology, okay? Let's forget about it." He smiled at her but she didn't smile back. He held her wrist and took her to their class.

"Aren't you going to punish him?" The lady with Rayner asked.
"Why should I punish him?" Rayner asked.
"You can make what happened look like a fight and get Kash into detention. That way, Cassie would be alone." She said.
"And risk her getting captured by the demons or witches? No. Kash is useful to me for now. I'll dispose of him when he becomes useless and that would be when the heiress has mastered her powers." Rayner chuckled.

Kash made Cassie sit down, before heading to his seat. Diego was already seated and smiled when Kash sat down.
"Good morning, Kash." He greeted.
"Morning, Diego." Kash answered simply. He wasn't in the mood to talk.
Cassie frowned and felt like crying. She thought he loved her, why would he remove her hands like it meant nothing! She looked down at the jacket he used to cover her and frowned. She dressed like this because of him but he didn't compliment her, instead he covered it up with a jacket.
The sun stopped shining immediately and the weather turned gloomy.
"I think it's gonna rain today," One of the students said.
Kash turned to look at Cassie and saw her squeezing the jacket like someone who was preventing herself from bursting into tears. Was he too hard on her? He remembered when he removed her hands from his waist and face palmed. On top of that, he could hear her crying in his head. He picked up his cellphone and sent her a text message before leaving the class.
Cassie's phone beeped and she picked it up. She opened the text and saw, "Meet me at the school garden." She scoffed and wiped her face. She exhaled and left the classroom. She approached him and stood in his front.
"Why did you_"
She couldn't finish her statement as he pulled her in for a hug. Cassie was surprised and at the same time relieved. "I'm sorry if I was hard on you. I just didn't want other guys to look at you. It makes me mad," He said.
Cassie smiled and hugged him back.
"Can you two stop your lovey-dovey?" Neil asked and they pulled away from the hug immediately.
Kash rolled his eyes and sat down on the grass.
"Who is he?" Cassie asked.
"You haven't introduced me to her? What a bad friend you are, Kash!" Neil snapped.
"Duh!" Kash rolled his eyes again.
"Hello, princess Cassandra. My name is Neil Casper. I am Kash's best friend, you can call us brothers, if you want." He smiled and they shook hands.
"You're good looking." Cassie complimented and Kash cleared his throat.
"What is it, Kash? Is that jealousy I'm sensing?" Neil asked.
"Don't get the wrong idea, brother." Kash said in a mocking tone and they laughed.
"Well, Princess Cassandra, do you have a boyfriend?" He asked and Cassie blushed.
Kash stood up. "Why are you asking her such a question?" He asked.
"Why shouldn't I? Did I ask you?" Neil smirked.
"I don't." She answered.
"Wow, that's awesome then. You know, you're the most beautiful girl I've ever set my eyes on. How about we go out for dinner sometime?" He asked.
"Stop flirting!" Kash snapped at Neil.
"Can't you see that she likes it? Why do you suddenly have a problem with that?" Neil asked.
"I've always had problem with that. It's time for you to return to OREKLION." Kash said.
"You're sending me away after I saved your àss?" Neil folded his arms.
Cassie couldn't say anything. She just watched them bickering. They looked cute though.
"I didn't ask you to save my àss. I could have taken care of them even if you hadn't stepped in." Kash said.
"So, you're saying you don't need me." Neil pouted.
"Neil, stop acting like a spoiled girlfriend."
"I can be your girlfriend, if you want me to." Neil said.
"No!" Cassie said immediately.
Kash and Neil glanced at each other before turning to face her.
"It's weird!" She snapped.
"She said it's weird. So, can you leave now?" Asher said.
"I'll leave but I'll be back. You'll need me someday," He said.
"Don't be so sure," Kash smirked.
"Whatever! What about your sister? Am I allowed to date her now?" Neil asked and Kash glared at him. "Fine! I'll go. Bye, princess Cassandra, you have a nice shape!" Neil said and Cassie blushed again.
"That pûnk!" Kash exclaimed but before he could do anything, Neil chuckled and disappeared. "Sorry about him. He's cràzy," Kash said.
"It's okay. Let's go to class," Cassie said and they left.
Immediately they entered the class, Cassie went to her seat while Kash stood beside her. A girl came to them and hugged Kash out of the blue. Cassie's eyes widened and she felt like teàring the girl to pieces.
"What are you doing?" Kash asked.
The girl pulled away from the hug and smiled. "Hi, my name is Bayley. I'm a huge admirer. I bought you chocolates," She said.
"He doesn't need your chocolates." Cassie said.
"I don't need it, thanks." Kash replied.
"Please, just accept it as a token of my love for you." Bayley yelled, drawing the attention of everyone in the class.
"What a bitçh! Seriously?" Cassie muttered. She was trying to control her anger but the girl was pushing her to the wall. How dare she touch Kash and sprout rubbish?
"Please, Kash. I really love you!" Bayley said.
"That is it!" Cassie stood up and faced the girl. "Aren't you being so cheap, right now?" She asked.
"How dare you ask me that?" Bayley asked.
"How dare you throw yourself at him?" Cassie asked.
Kash tried to stop her but she shook her head.
"Throw myself at him? I'm only telling him how I feel about him. You're a bitçh to say that to me. Do you know who my father is?"
"Oh, shut up!" Cassie snapped. "You are a bitçh forcing herself on men. Unfortunately, you aren't his type. Look at how flat your chest and bûtt is. Look at how skinny you are. I am sure even chicken has more flesh than you." Cassie said and Bayley gasped.
"You!"
