Chapter Forty
❝Shut up before the wind blows you away,❞ Cassie said and sat down.
Bayley was dumbfounded. She looked at Kash to see if he would say anything but he just shrugged. The class burst into a fit of laughter, embarrassing her further. Bayley left their side and went to sit down quietly.
❝You shouldn't have done that, you know.❞ Kash said to Cassie.
❝I did what I was supposed to. She shouldn't claim what isn't hers.❞ Cassie returned to her books.
Kash smiled. So she was jealous.
❝Cassie, are you jealous?❞ He asked.
❝Jealous? Why would I? What is there to be jealous about?❞ She asked.
❝Are you sure?❞ Kash smirked.
❝Yes.❞ She answered.
Kash chuckled as he walked back to his seat.
❝Hey man, aren't you going to train me anymore?❞ Diego asked.
❝Of course I'm gonna train you. When will you be free tonight?❞ Kash asked.
❝You are supposed to train me during the day.❞ Diego said.
❝Yeah, but I'll be training Cassie this afternoon, so I don't think it's possible,❞ Kash rubbed his palms together. ❝Why am I suddenly feeling chilly?❞ Kash looked at Diego.
❝Chilly?❞ Diego asked.
❝Yeah. I feel like something isn't right,❞ Kash looked at Cassie.
❝You need to keep a close eye on Cassie then. Maybe, they're coming for her.❞ Diego placed his hand on Kash's shoulder.
❝I guess you're right.❞ Kash sighed.
❝Will it be okay if I come watch you train Cassie?❞ Diego asked.
❝Yeah sure. I'm sure you'll learn a few things.❞ Kash smiled.
❝I will surely learn something.❞ Diego smirked.

LIBRARY OF MAGIC
Zaire flipped through the books in the library. He had been observing the mystery book for a while and noticed something weird. He glanced through the library, looking for a book on chameleons but couldn't find any. He took out his phone and dialed Maggie's number.
She answered the phone after the third ring. "Hey, Zaire. I'm quite busy at the office now. What's up?" She asked, flipping through the files on her table.
"I'd appreciate if you come to the library now. It's really urgent," Zaire said with furrowed brows.
"Can you give me till lunch break? I have a deadline to meet before 9am." Maggie sighed.
"Okay. But, please hurry when you're done." Zaire smiled and hung up.
An hour later, Maggie appeared in the library and rushed to meet him.
"What is going on?" She asked.
"Follow me," Zaire led the way to the table where the book was placed. "It seems the book brought in a new character." Zaire rubbed the book with his fingers.
Maggie looked closely and gasped. "A chameleon?"
"The last of its kind." Zaire affirmed.
Maggie used her fingers to trace the book right to the picture of Kash and Diego. "Why do I sense that something is wrong with this new character?" She asked.
"I felt same way too but I can't place my fingers on it." Zaire ruffled his hair.
"Look closely, Zaire. We might find something." Maggie said.
They continued to look at it but the more they looked, the more they got confused.
"We need to warn Kash and Cassie about this..." Maggie trailed off, looking closely to check the name. "...Diego."
"You warn them. I'll keep a close eye on the book," Zaire said.
"Okay."

OREKLION
"My princess, please you need to get dressed. You have a date today," Layla pleaded.
Sapphire didn't answer but continued to turn the pages of the novel she was reading.
Layla knelt down. "Please, my princess. The king will have my head on a platter if you aren't ready before his arrival."
Sapphire snapped the book closed and turned to look at Layla. "Tell father that I am no longer interested in his blind dates. For goodness sake, I have the right to choose whoever I want to be with," She huffed.
"I understand but we have no choice. The king's orders are not to be flaunted." Layla begged with her palms together.
Sapphire sighed and stood up. "I'm doing this not because I want to but because I don't want you to get punished," She walked over to her closet.
"Thank you," Layla smiled. She stood up so as to help Sapphire pick out a dress. She knew better than to allow the rebellious princess pick an outfit. Sapphire was more of a diva than a princess. Leave her to pick out her own outfit and the palace would be thrown into an uproar.
"This gown looks good," Sapphire smiled, checking out a short flair gown.
"I thought you don't wanna go for this blind date. Do you wanna seduce him by wearing that?" Layla asked.
Sapphire dropped the gown with a pout. Layla brought out a handless long blue gown for her. Sapphire frowned but she had no choice than to wear it. After putting on, Layla wanted to pack her to the side but she refused.
"I'm all dressed. I'm naturally beautiful, so I don't need an extra touch to my face," She faked a smile.
Layla nodded.
She dragged her feet out of her room and walked through the palace hallways. The palace guards drooled at she walked by but she didn't mind.
"My daughter!" King Tairus smiled as she approached him.
"Father." She curtsied.
"Why that gloomy look on your face, huh? I'm sure you're going to like this one. He is Prince Ferdinand from the kingdom of Aresmus. He is good looking and fits your class perfectly. He can control nature." King Tairus smiled.
"But dad, I'm no longer a kid_"
"That's why I want you to get married soon." He cuts in and walked away.
"Now I wish Kash was here." She muttered.
"This way, my princess." A guard led the way and she followed. He took her to the palace garden where the prince stood, waiting for her.
"I can go on my own now." She said to the guard, who bowed and left. She took gentle steps to where he stood and he turned to welcome her.
"Princess Sapphire," He walked up to her and took her hand then placed a light kiss at the back. "You look beautiful." He smiled.
"Thanks." She smiled and withdrew her hand. He wasn't bad looking though. She admired his bad boy look... Well, that's all she can say for now.
"Take a walk with me, please." He smiled, exposing his cute dimples.
"Sure," She smiled back.

CAFETERIA
"I haven't seen Lily for a while. Where could she be?" Cassie asked.
"I don't know. Maybe she quit attending school and is waiting for her paralysis to heal." Kash answered.
"Paralysis?" Diego asked.
"Yes. She tried to paralyze me but I showed her who was boss." Cassie beat her chest proudly.
"Really? How did you do that?" He asked.
"Well, Kash taught me how to master my environment by making time stop. All I needed to do was concentrate and I successfully switched the food." Cassie smiled, proud with her achievement.
"All you needed to do was concentrate, right?" Diego asked and smiled.
"Yes. Why are you smiling like that?" Cassie asked.
"I'm smiling because I would need to concentrate to master my own powers too. I feel useless," He said.
"You aren't useless, Diego. You just haven't found out what you can do yet." Kash placed his hand on Diego's shoulder but removed it immediately he felt like something was draining from him. He looked at his hand and back at Diego who was oblivious of what was happening.
"Thanks, Kash. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you." Diego smiled.
Kash just smiled and nodded. He couldn't comprehend what just happened. How would touching Diego make his powers drain? Or was it a new power Diego had?
"Cassie, can I talk with you?" Asher asked. He looked at Kash and their eyes met. Kash said nothing but his eyes told Asher to back off.
Asher said nothing and waited for Cassie to reply.
"I thought that you have forgotten me." Cassie pouted.
"Not at all. Can we talk?" He asked.
"Sure," Cassie faced Kash. "I'll be right back." She smiled.
Asher smiled at Kash and followed Cassie.
"Do you want to follow them or what?" Diego asked. He saw how Kash's gaze lingered on Asher and Cassie till they were out of sight.
Kash sighed. "I'm just worried about Cassie."
"Why? Asher is a nice guy." Diego said.
"You won't understand what I'm talking about." Kash said.
Diego narrowed his eyes. Could there be more to Asher that he didn't know?
"What is wrong?" Diego asked. He was ready to hear what the vampires were up to and use it against them.

"Where have you been?" Cassie asked.
"I've been around. I couldn't come close to you because of Kash." Asher sighed.
"Why?" Cassie asked.
"I think he doesn't like me," Asher said.
"You aren't a bad guy. Why won't Kash like you?" Cassie asked rhetorically.
"I'll tell you soon. Anyways, I have something important to tell you." Asher smiled.
"What is that?" Cassie asked.
"Well, the school dance is coming up and I would like you to be my date to the dance. Will you?"Download Novelah App
