Chapter Forty One
"Well, the school dance is coming up and I would like you to be my date to the dance. Will you?" Asher asked.
"The school dance?" She furrowed her eye brows. If there was going to be a school dance, shouldn't the principal inform them?
"Yes. I got the information quite early, so I decided to ask you first." He smiled.
"You want me to be your date? Why?" She asked.
"I'll tell you the reason on that day. Also, because I like you and want you to be by my side on that day." Asher smiled at her.
Cassie saw the sincerity in his eyes and since he asked her first, it wouldn't be fair if she said no and agreed to be someone else's date later on. She thought about Kash but dismissed it the moment it came. She wanted to be fair.
"Okay, Asher. I'll be your date to the dance." She smiled.
Asher's face lit up. "Really?"
"Yes." She answered.
"Thanks."
"It's nothing. Although, I'm not happy with the fact that you aren't close to me like before. Seriously Asher, you were the first friend I made here." Cassie complained.
"What about Kash?" Asher asked.
"Kash is a nice guy if you get to know him. He is only doing that to protect me and you know it. All you have to do is be yourself," She said.
Asher nodded. "I'll be on my way now." She smiled and left.
"Yes!" Asher exclaimed.
*****
"Why are you suddenly interested in the Vampires, Diego?" Kash asked as a result of Diego's constant questions about them.
"I'm just curious. I don't know if they would come after me as well." Diego answered with a pout.
"They won't come close to you, okay? I will make sure of that." Kash balled his fists.
"But you can give me information about them. It isn't everytime you're with me and I'm scared," Diego said.
"Matters like this are quite confidential and shouldn't be shared carelessly." Kash smiled at Diego.
"So, what you're trying to say is that you don't trust me?" Diego asked.
Kash laughed and answered. "A guardian is not supposed to trust anyone, not even the person they are guiding or himself."
"You just broke my heart." Diego clutched his chest in a dramatic way which made Kash laughed.
"Where is Cassie? She should be here by now." Kash looked ahead.
"Do you like her?" Diego asked.
"Why do you ask?" Kash cleared his throat.
"You seem to care a lot about her," Diego said.
"Yes because I am her guardian."
"Apart from that." Diego rolled his eyes.
Kash sighed and was about to talk when he saw Cassie. He used that opportunity to change the topic of discussion.
"Here she is." Kash smiled.
"What? Did you guys miss me already?" She asked with a smile.
"If you put it that way_"
Kash kicked Diego to make him stop talking and smiled at Cassie.
"Let's eat. Lunch break is almost over," He said.
Cassie smiled and turned to her left. She caught sight of Aunt Maggie and tapped Kash.
"Aunt Maggie is here." She said, looking at the direction.
"What could she be doing here?" Kash asked, standing up.
"I don't know. Maybe it's about the book." Cassie answered as they left.
"Book? What book?" Diego twisted his neck to see where they were headed. "Okay, Diego. It is time to see what you can really do." He smirked and left the cafeteria.
He went to the back of the class and exhaled. "Now, what should I turn into?" He asked, massaging his temple. He smiled and transformed into a lizard then headed for where Aunt Maggie stood with Kash and Cassie.
"Aunt, what are you doing here?" Cassie asked.
"Listen to me you two. I don't have enough time here. I just came to warn you." Aunt Maggie looked both ways.
"About what?" Kash asked.
"About that boy, Diego." She answered.
"How did you know about Diego?" Cassie asked with a bit of shock in her voice.
"The book." Aunt Maggie answered.
"Hope it's safe." Cassie looked at Aunt Maggie with narrowed eyes.
"Of course, it's safe. No one except you and Kash can touch it, but that isn't why I'm here. I want you two go be wary of him." Aunt Maggie said.
"But Diego is just a helpless supernatural who doesn't know what his powers are." Kash defended.
"So, you didn't notice any bad energy from him?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"No." Kash shrugged.
"Same here or did the book say something about him?" Cassie asked.
"The book hasn't said anything yet but there is an atmosphere surrounding him that I cannot understand but, Zaire is looking into it and we will find out soon but in the meantime, becareful around him. Trust no one!" Aunt Maggie disappeared after that last line.
Kash and Cassie exchanged glances. "Does this sound weird to you too?" Cassie asked.
Kash just chuckled and they left.
Diego transformed from the lizard to human. "So, that is Maggie. I must say she has become more beautiful than before. So, she is suspecting me, right? How about we take her out of the picture?" He snickered. "And oh, the book! What book were they talking about and how is it related to Cassie and Kash? Hmmm, I have a lot to discover." He chuckled and left.

LILY'S ROOM
"Seriously? You asked us to ditch school for this?" Zeeva snapped at Lily who looked at her like she had done nothing wrong.
Lily had refused to go to school that day and called Crystal and the rest over only to make them give her manicure and pedicure.
"Is anything wrong with that? You guys are my maids after all and_"
"Speak for them alone and do not include me. I am not your maid and will never be." Stella snapped at her.
"Whatever! If you aren't doing my fingernails or toenails, then why are you here?" Lily asked.
"Can't you see? I'm busy." Stella took a novel and turned her back at Lily.
"Wait till I become queen of the coven. I'll make sure to put you in your place." Lily snapped but Stella only nodded.
"All done!" Crystal said and stood up.
Lily looked at her toe nails and smiled. "Now, massage me." She ordered.
"I can't do that. Because you're paralyzed doesn't make us your servants." Crystal complained.
"Did you just go against my orders?" Lily glared at her. "I only have less than 6 days to walk again. Do you want to lick my feet before then?"
"Ew!" Stella laughed.
"I'm sorry but I have to serve the queen. I am the Queen's personal maid and not yours. Let Zeeva do that." Crystal said.
"I'm tired." Zeeva stood up.
"So, you're flaunting my orders too?" She asked.
"Sorry but the queen needs me." Crystal chanted a spell and disappeared.
Lily turned to Zeeva. "Sorry, I need to use the restroom." Zeeva scrunched up her face and disappeared.
"I have a restroom here. What sort of absurd excuse is that?" Lily yelled. She looked at Stella and huffed.
"Don't look at me. I'm busy!" Stella smiled, returning her focus to the novel.

REALM OF PURE MAGIC
King Harven and Queen Roanna organized a meeting to discuss the success of Cassie's training and so far, it seemed they would bring her to Athens sooner than expected.
"I have to say, Kash is doing a wonderful job of training our princess." One of the royal advisers stated.
"Kash is the son of King Tairus. The best guardians come from there, so we shouldn't expect less of him." Roxy smiled.
"Yes and it seems he is progressing more than his brothers. He is the youngest but very experienced." Samuel, another of the royal advisers complimented.
"It's true. I have never seen someone learn so many things at a short period of time. It is also because the princess is a fast learner." Another one said.
"Exactly."
The king and queen smiled at the positive feedbacks they got from the royal advisers. They were happy that their daughter was doing well.
"I am glad that you all view things from the same perspectives as us. Since, she has learned so much, I believe that it is time she visits Athens to get acquainted with the environment." King Harven suggested.
The royal advisers murmured amongst themselves for a while before facing the King and Queen.
"Your highness, you should give her more time. We are seeing her improvement physically but we haven't seen a lot supernaturally. I believe she still has a lot of powers to discover." Samuel said.
"Also, she would discover her most dominant power when she turns 18. Her birthday is in two months, right?" Roxy asked and they all nodded.
"Yes, your highness. Let us see what happens after that then we pass our judgment from there."
"I think you all are right." King Harven said.
"What about her demon side?" Queen Roanna asked.
"We shouldn't be too worried since Kash is by her side. He is the only one who can cage that side in her. He is already teaching her how to control her temper." Roxy said and they nodded.

"I can't do it! It's too heavy." Cassie complained as she tried to focus.
School was already over for the day and Kash was training her. He was making her try lifting a table with her telekinesis but she was finding it difficult. Diego had excused himself, saying that he wanted to rest for a while.
"You can do it. Just free your mind from all thoughts and focus on what you want to lift." Kash said.
"Can't I try moving a stone instead?" She asked.
"You've done that more than 7 times already. Now that you know the simple ones, let's focus on the complex ones." He smiled at her.
Cassie pouted and looked at the table.

DIEGO'S APARTMENT
He paced forth and back in the room, trying to place his hands on what he heard from them. He needed answers and the only way to get it was to meet Cassie's Aunt.
"Mia, Ian!" He called.
They appeared and bowed.
"You called us." They said.
"Why don't we pay Ms. Maggie a surprise visit?"
