Chapter Forty Six
"I... don't remember." Cassie held her head.
Kash was shocked. "Are you serious?" He asked. He hoped she was trying to play a prank on him. If she doesn't remember then she would be in danger.
"I'm serious. All I could remember was looking for Asher to talk to him about the school dance. Aside from that, I can't remember anything that happened afterwards." She explained.
Kash stood up, pacing around the room. This was all his fault for leaving her. He couldn't risk her getting into more dangerous situations, so now he was going to stick close and be with her visibily and invisibly.
"You don't need to strain yourself. You're better now and that's how that matters. You will regain that memory soon." He patted her head.
She smiled and held his hand, looking into his eyes.
"Kash, are you going to abandon me someday?" She asked.
That question took Kash by surprise because he blinked. "Why did you ask such a question?"
"Because, I have been stressing you out lately. You are always struggling to save and protect me. I am thinking that you might get tired of me one day." She sighed.
"That's not gonna happen. Don't you say that again. I am your guardian, it is my duty to protect and guide you." He replied.
Cassie drawed him to sit on the bed then moved closer to him. Kash couldn't understand why she was acting that way. Did she hit her head on the floor when she passed out?
"I want you to be more than just a guardian, Kash. I want you to be my best friend and the closest person to me." She smiled.
When she noticed that Kash was silent, she spoke up again, "Why are you quiet? Is that too much to ask or you don't want to be?"
"It's not like that. Of course, I want to be." He answered.
"Thanks," She smiled and put her head on his shoulder then fell asleep.
Kash stared at her sleeping figure and smiled. He took her hair and put it at the back of her ears so he could get a better view of her face.
"You're pretty." He smiled as he stroked her hair.
He took her and laid her down on the bed. He stood up to cover her with the duvet but she held his hand. He looked at her and saw that she was still asleep. He covered her hand with his palm and sat down the used his free hand to cover her with the duvet.

IN SCHOOL
Asher on the other hand was looking everywhere for Cassie. He couldn't find Kash either.
"Hey Asher!" Lily blocked his way when he was about to enter the class.
"What is it?" He asked her hastily.
"Stop being cocky! I'm trying to do you a favor here." She pouted.
"What kind of favour?" Asher folded his arms.
"Well, the school dance is coming up, do I'm doing you the favour of being your date to the dance." She smiled.
Asher laughed. "Now, I see that you've gone psycho." Asher said.
"Meaning?" She glared at him.
"Sorry to burst your bubble but I have already asked someone out on a date and she agreed," Asher said and was about to leave but she stopped him.
It better not be who she was thinking. "Who is that?" She asked.
"Cassandra." He smirked.
She frowned. "Cassie? The same Cassie who passed out in school today agreed to be your date?" She laughed. "Who do you think you're lying to or are you trying to keep your hopes up?" She asked.
"Cassie passed out in school today?" Asher gasped.
Lily laughed. "Are you in another world or not? The news is all over the place."
Asher said nothing and ran towards the direction of his father's office. When he got there, he flung the door opened.
"Dad!" He called.
Rayner looked up to meet the angry eyes of his son. "Asher, what happened?" He asked calmly.
"Don't you dare pretend not to know what I am talking about. I clearly stated that you should not hurt Cassie but you made her pass out." Asher complained.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Rayner was confused.
"Spare me the pretence, dad!" He snapped.
"What pretence are you talking about? I told you that I did nothing to Cassie. If she passed out, then that was the work of someone else. Didn't I make clear that we needed her? Why would I hurt her?" Rayner asked.
Asher sighed. He knew his father too well. He wouldn't go back on his words. He knew that Cassie was mentally and physically fit. What could have made her pass out or was Lily trying to mess with him? He looked at his father and stormed out of the room.
Rayner sighed. "Did you do it?" He asked and the lady became visible.
She chuckled and sat down. "She heard more than her ears could take." She answered, crossing her legs.
"How_"
"Cut it off, Rayner!" She cut in. "I didn't hurt her. I only wiped her memories of what she heard." She replied, looking at her perfectly manicured nails.
"Didn't she put up a fight?" Rayner asked.
"I didn't give her the chance to. Besides, she was too shocked to do anything at first. She couldn't believe I was the one and I used that against her. The absence of her stupid guardian also contributed to my success." She laughed.
"That was a nice move but hope she won't remember?" Rayner asked.
"Nope!" She answered and disappeared.
Rayner sighed and ruffled his hair. That was a close one.
Asher walked through the halls, looking for Diego. He wanted to know whether Diego knew where Kash had taken Cassie to because he definitely knew that she would be with him. He found Diego seated in class with his head on the desk. He tapped Diego and Diego looked up.
"Please, do you know where Kash took Cassie after she passed out?" He asked.
"May I know why you asked?" Diego asked.
"I'm her friend." Asher answered. He didn't know whether Diego had forgotten him so soon.
"Oh." He said.
"Do you know the place?" Asher asked.
"No." He answered and rested his head on the desk again.
Asher sighed and walked out.
Diego stared at Asher as he left. He scoffed and idea struck him. If Kash wasn't around then he would have the chance to go to the library of magic, find that book and no one would even notice it. He smirked and stood up.

THE LIBRARY OF MAGIC
Aunt Maggie appeared and rushed to Zaire.
"What did you say happened to Cassie?" She asked, holding him.
"She is fine. Kash is with her." Zaire replied.
Aunt Maggie looked into the book. "Why does that lady with Cassie look familiar?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"That is the main reason why I called you here. There is something she doesn't want Cassie to remember, so she wiped Cassie's memory." Zaire explained.
"Cassie is more powerful. That can't happen, unless..." Aunt Maggie trailed off.
"Unless what?" Zaire asked.
"That person is a top supernatural from the realm of pure magic." Aunt Maggie said.
Zaire gasped. "Are you saying that there is a mole in your kingdom?" He asked.
"Yes. There is someone getting information from the palace and feeding it to whoever is in that school and Cassie might have overheard it which led to her loss of memory. But my question is, why didn't the book say what Cassie heard? Isn't it supposed to show the daily lifestyle of Kash and Cassie?" Aunt Maggie massaged her temple as she paced around the room.
"I thought of same thing, but_"
Zaire's words were caught off by the opening of the library door. Kash entered. (This is Drake, who used Diego's powers to turn into Kash)
"Kash?" Zaire called.
"Hey..." He trailed off, examining them. "Zaire and Aunt Maggie."
Zaire and Aunt Maggie exchanged glances.
"Why aren't you with Cassie?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"Oh, right. Cassie said she was fine, so I had to come here and look for what happened that made her pass out." He answered.
"That doesn't sound like something you would do. I know you so well, Kash. What is really going on?" Zaire asked.
Zaire was feeling uneasy. This looked like Kash but he isn't acting like Kash. Whenever Kash came to the library, he would always exchange words with him first but today was different and odd.
"Where were you when Cassie needed you?" Zaire asked. This is when he would know whether this was Kash or someone else.
"I was at the cafeteria. She told me that she wanted to use the ladies bathroom and come back." He answered, hoping that was what really happened.
"That isn't what the book said. This isn't Kash." Aunt Maggie whispered to Zaire and he nodded.
"Alert the real Kash now." Zaire said.
Aunt Maggie was about to disappear but Kash hit her with his magic and she fell. Zaire helped her up quickly.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
She nodded and stood up, fire surrounding her. She sent a secret signal to Kash and faced the fake one. "I don't know who you are or why you are in Kash's body but prepare to be taken down!" She threw a fireball but he dodged.
"Seriously? That's all you got?" He laughed.
Zaire chanted a spell from one of his books but it didn't work on him.
The fake Kash chuckled and his face switched to Diego and then to Master Drake.
"You!" Zaire and Aunt Maggie exclaimed.
"I expected that." He chuckled.
"You possessed that innocent boy!" Aunt Maggie rushed to him and both engaged in a combat with neither unwilling to back down. She kicked him and he fell.
"Nice to see you again, Maggie. You haven't changed at all; You still fight better than me but can you fight better than Kash?" He asked and turned to Kash again.
Aunt Maggie moved back.
"What happened? Are you scared of a guardian? Guardians don't hurt people." He chuckled.
"Stay back!" Aunt Maggie snapped.
Zaire rushed to him but he used Kash's water powers to bind him.
"Zaire!" Aunt Maggie wanted to free him with her fire powers but he caught and bound her too.
"Let us free!" She snapped.
"Let me think about that. No!" He chuckled, making his way to the book.
"Don't touch that!" Zaire snapped.
"Shut up!" He threw something and it covered Zaire's mouth. "So, this is the book, controlling their destiny. What if I destroy it? There would be no Kash or Cassie, right?" He picked it up with a smirk. "Wait! I need Cassie so I would destroy Kash instead."
"No!" Aunt Maggie yelled.
"I'd drop that book if I were you!" Kash said and he turned.
"But I am you." He smirked, facing Kash.
"Do not let me repeat myself." Kash said and drew his sword.
"Are you going to fight me, Kash?" He drew his own sword.
"Yes." Kash answered.
"Let's see how Kash defeats another version of Kash then."
