The Global Peace Ambassador 22
Nevertheless, the humanitarian, who treated Dr. Parker and the other patients, was made the Interim Minister of Health. Likewise, Dr. Livingston was appointed, as the Interim Head of the Government, and he shocked the world with the tremendous changes he recorded within a short period. Meanwhile, Olivia was glad to have her husband and the team back to Kent. “Welcome, back once again, my hero,” she greeted when they got back home. Denise lifted her up, and commended, “You are the best, my Lady Boss. I am proud to be your husband.” “Thank you. I'm happy that I made you happy.” “Yes. I promise that I won’t travel out of the country again until our daughter arrives,” he promised after he put her down, and rubbed her baby bump. “Oh my God. It is good to hear that. Our son would be glad to see his dad crying in disappointment,” she refuted, and Denise chuckled with pleasure. Afterward, they settled down for their dinner. Just as he promised, he turned down every invitation by the United Nation for a physical appearance to speak on peace to countries who were threatening to go into war. In some cases, he would hold the meeting through Zoom or send any of the Admirals from the United Dunforn Republic to represent him. Every so often, he would send Dr. Livingstone to do that. Nevertheless, their presence always yield positive results, and he was happy with that. One day, he was in a Zoom meeting when his phone rang, and he felt distracted. He glanced at the phone which was beside him to see the caller, “What!” he exclaimed when he saw the caller. He excused himself from the meeting and picked the call. Then, he greeted, “Hello, Constable. I am delighted to hear from you.” “Hello, Sir Bailey. How are you?” “I am good, officer. Thank you. And you?” “I am good. Thank you. I would like to have a meeting with you any time that it would be suitable for you,” the Constable pleaded. Now, Denise was astonished with the invitation, and inquired hastily, “I hope there is no problem.” “There is, but it not what we cannot handle.” To avoid keeping away from the Zoom meeting for too long, he consented, “It is alright. 4 PM today would be all right by me.” “It is all right, but I would love you know that Sir Relish and his wife requested for the meeting, and I would love to inform you that they would be part of it. Is it acceptable to you?” Now, Denise could imagine the essence of the meeting, and accepted, “I got it, constable. I will be available then.” “Thank you. See you then.” “It is my pleasure, Constable,” he concluded, and got back to his meeting. After thirty minutes, the meeting came to an end. He looked at the time, and it was 1 PM. Subsequently, he got up from his swivel seat, stretched himself, and yawned. “I’m famished!” he exclaimed. Then, he picked his phone, and headed for his father’s office. “Good day, father,” he greeted when he got in. Now, his father was on a tea break, and was resting on the couch while watching the television. As usual, Denise's presence always give him a panic because he thought he had discovered the relationship between his wife and Louis, and wished to lay a complaint. “Good day, Denise,” he responded and sat up from the couch. “What brings you?” He inquired. Now, Denise had taken his seat on the couch opposite him, and lifted the pack of the snacks on the center table. Likewise, he discovered that it was empty, and requested, “I’m famished. Can I have some?” Arthur looked at the pantry, and before he could speak, Denise was up from his seat, and headed towards the pantry. After a few seconds, he returned with a cup of tea, and a pack of snacks. “Thank you, father, for this,” he appreciated after he took his seat. “You are welcome,” Arthur responded, and laid back on the couch, and continued with watching the television. Now, Denise had his snacks quietly, and when his father noticed that he was through, he asked, “Are you through?” “Yes, father,” he answered, and covered his cup on the saucer. Now, Arthur got up, and gave him a questioning look. “The Constable sent for me,” he declared, and looked into his father’s eyes for his reaction. Then, Arthur wrinkled his brow, and demanded, “What for?” “I think it is in respect to Sir Relish’s daughter. According to the Constable, the meeting was actually convened by Sir Relish and his wife.” Now, Arthur breathed freely, and said, “I see. That incident had given Sir Relish a bad reputation.” “You are right, father. I pray that he doesn’t go into depression because of that.” “I pray so, too. Find out what they have to say during the meeting, and get back to me.” “I got it. I beg to take my leave.” “It's okay. See you later.” At the Constable’s Office Just like his father, he did not believe in moving around with security guards. After the award, he observed that many drivers were hostile, and drove recklessly around him, but he never attributed them to the award or hatred. That day was not an exception. All the same, he avoided them, and got to the meeting at a good time. “Good day, Constable. Good day, Sir and Lady Relish. I am delighted to be in your mist,” he greeted when he got into the office. “Good to have you, Sir Bailey,” Sir Relish and his wife greeted simultaneously. “Good day, Sir Bailey. Kindly take your seat,” the Constable offered. “Thank you, Sir.” “I wish to appreciate you for honoring this invitation despite the short notice,” the Constable appreciated. Then, Denise smiled, and responded, “It is my pleasure, Sir.” Now the Constable looked at the couple, and requested, “Can you repeat what you told me about your daughter’s confession before your lawyer?” At that point, Lady Relish looked down in shame, and her husband stuttered. He narrated her daughter’s statement the day he visited her with a lawyer. Thereafter, he concluded with, “I requested to see you because I am unable to think of how your parents would react to this. It baffles me that a young lady like her would quit a serious relationship to chase after a man as old as your father.” After his explanation, there was an awkward silence in the office, which was enough to kill the couple before their real death. The dicey thing about Whitney’s confession was that it was unbelievable, and the judge would assume that she cooked it up. Besides, her initial statement, where she stated that she went on a casual visit, gave her away. Now, the Constable looked at the confused Denise, and confessed, “I understand how you feel, Denise. I was surprised, as you are, when I heard it. I am aware that you have displayed enough skill in managing public affairs, and this will not be too much for you to handle.” Howbeit, after a few seconds, Denise was able to comport himself, and spoke, “May I plead that you give me time to carry out my investigation.” Now, they were relieved, and the Constable spoke, “You have my full support. Anytime you wish to interrogate any suspect, kindly draw my attention.” “It is okay, Sir,” he said, and stood up. Sir Relish stood up too, and initiated a hug. Subsequently, Denise greeted, “I understand how you feel, Sir and Lady. I promise to get to the bottom of it.” “Thank you, my son. I trust your statesmanship,” Sir Relish appreciated. Then, his wife appreciated too, “Thank you, Sir Bailey, for this. We are banking on you.” Thereafter, they walked out of the office, and watched Denise drive away. Then, the couple turned to the Constable and appreciated once again, “Thank you for your mediation, Constable.” “Think nothing about it. Since the Peace Ambassador had agreed to look into the matter, I believe that the problem is half solved.” “We agree with you. Let’s watch and see how it goes.”
