Chapter 17 Blood scattered everywhere because of the battle.
SCARLETTE'S POINT OF VIEW I felt him follow me. He even called my name but I did not bother to face him. 'Crap! Do not tell me what you know right now! I am still not ready for it!' I ran as fast as I could. I heard him still shouting my name so I covered my ears using my palms. 'Run! Do not stop! Keep running!' "Scarle―" "Please!" I stopped and faced him. He also stopped running, a few distances away from me. "Not now!" I begged. "But―" He tried to move closer but I shouted. "Do not tell me what you know right―" I gasped as my eyes widened when a ring of fire all of sudden, lighted up around me. 'How did this appear here?' I looked at Asher, silently asking for an explanation. "You made it, Scarlette. You can control, make, and destroy fire or heat." "Did not you set this up for me because you already know that I would run away from you?" I asked. He frowned. "Of course, not. Did you see me throw a lighter, matchstick, or whatever that could lighten up a fire?" "No." Still, I did not believe him. "You might have done this through a hidden mechanism. You claimed yourself to be a science genius in your previous school." He denied my reasoning, "I would not do a trick like that to you, Partner. Now, if you still do not believe me, you have to calm yourself and the fire will be gone. If it works, you have to believe me." My suspicions did not disappear. However, I breathed deeply to calm myself just like what he said. When I finally calmed down, the fire slowly faded until it disappeared without marks left. "See? You can control fire," Asher stated seriously. "B-but how?" I asked, still confused. "You are a demigod like me, Scarlette." My mouth gaped open because of that. "H-huh? A-are you already out of your mind?" He rolled his eyes, annoyed by my untrusting gaze on him. "Coming from the one who killed demons at midnight who also happened to be the daughter of the late swordsman." I pressed my eyes closed as I let out a heavy sigh. "Uh, this is so weird, too far from reality," I muttered. He walked towards me, still wearing his serious face. "I will tell you everything that you want to know. Just trust me." I simply nodded. "And you have to accept your fate." After hearing the last sentence that came out of his mouth, I could feel my eyes fire up as I met his gray eyes. "Do I have other choices than accepting my real fate?" I asked. He fell silent. I smirked out of annoyance. Not annoyance to him but annoyance to my fate. Now, my simple life was ruined. "None," I answered my own question. "Do not worry. I am going to accept it. It was my fate after all." "Is it okay to you to skip class?" he questioned again to the point I had lost count. I nodded for the nth time. We went to the library, instead of attending our first class. "Hey, what are you doing here?" the librarian asked when she saw us entering the door. "Good morning, Ma'am." I smiled as I greeted. "We have research that we forgot to do," I reasoned out. Of course, it was a lie. The librarian sneered. "Oh, come on, Scarlette. What happened to the 'good-student' type you are?" I smirked. "She is on a vacation as of now. She said that she badly wanted to take a break." She laughed at my joke. "Use the books carefully," she reminded. "Noted," Asher responded with a sweet smile. 'No need to use your charm, idiot.' Asher led the way. We went to the shelves where we first saw each other. He grabbed a hardbound book from the middle of the fiction books' shelf. It seemed familiar to me. "Looks familiar to you?" he asked. I nodded. "This is the book that was fell on our first meet." A memory flashed in my mind from that day. And yes, it was also the day that he gave me a mysterious cheeseburger and the day that we nearly got locked up inside the school campus. "So, what is with that book?" I stared at the book that he was holding. "Your questions will be answered by this," he answered. I could sense seriousness in his voice but it seemed a joke to me so I laughed. "Really?" Then, I laughed again but I also stopped when I realized that we were in the library. "Really? The answers are in that fiction book?" I asked, unbelievably. "Yes." I was about to laugh again but his cold expression gave me the creeps so I just remained silent and muttered, "Fine. I believe you." "Come on, Scarlette. No time for fun. I am dead serious right now." I closed my eyes and sighed. "Okay. Okay." I raised my both hands in defeat. "Good." He showed the front of the black hardbound book. It was entitled 'Hetarnian Myth'. The letters were gold in color and all in capital letters. "It seems a fiction to many but for us, this is not just a myth. This is our reality." The Hetarnian Myth – according to Asher, " . . . this is our reality." This is a not well-known myth – a myth for others, but for us, it is not. In the beginning, Od―the greatest god―created everything. He created the universe, the Earth, humans, animals, and anything. He was so happy after seeing what he had made. The time came when he felt like there was still missing. So, he divided his soul into three – 50%, 25%, and 25%. His 50% left in his own self while the other half was transformed into two beautiful daughters of his. He named them Er and Wart. Er is the goddess of fire while Wart is the goddess of water. They are the Twin of Balance. After a long time, a war happened on Earth between Od's believers and those who were not. Back then, the people on Earth got divided into halves. Blood scattered everywhere because of the battle.
