In positive psychology, self-reliance has a strong theoretical significance thanks to its implications if happiness you will probably notice some overlap, or at least potential implications for self-worth, self-expression, self-knowledge, resilience, and self-acceptance.
Self-reliance is not for everyone. Given the fact that we are vulnerable for being overly dependent at certain times. Growing up and developing dependency especially to our parents. Then it become a trait that we carry on into our growth as an individual. But being able to break free from dependency and taking action towards being independent, one can be harnessed having self-reliance. Being able to have self-reliance will help you to be able to accomplish your day to day tasks without dependency, without assumptions and expectations from others to help you from doing you own thing. In life, we cannot avoid to put up expectations especially to people in general. We expect something good from them that we will be able to see. But then failed to put great expectations to ourselves. There are lots of circumstances that is in need of your great trust to yourself, circumstances that in need of you doing it all alone. You need to be independent. You cannot just let yourself constantly asking help from others. You need to remember that they are also dealing with their own agendas, lost in their own thought or work. By being self-reliant, you will be able to challenge yourself from doing various tasks. By doing it all by yourself, you will know your vulnerabilities and strengths. You can have a strong sense of independence, that you can do it all by yourself. That you can. Finishing a task or being able to figure out somethings that picks your curiosity, you will recognize that you have the capability to do things without assuming or expecting support and validation to others.
