chapter twenty six

That was David. He liked cara when they were in high school, and as I said, her friend Mark set her up with David."
"That's all you know about him?" I asked.
"Oh my gosh! Ask her. I don't know much about that guy, but one thing I know is he's asking if they can have dinner again," she said.
I nodded at what she said.
I need to fix things between Hope and me, and then I'll make it right with Cara.
CONVENIENCE STORE / CARA'S POV
I miss that damn guy.
I wanted to talk to him, but my ego was preventing me. I'm glad he helped us today tho.
I went to my mom's eatery to deliver her request for smores brownies before I went here to the convenience store. I put the smores brownies in front of the counter for a free taste, and on the other side were the cookies for sale. I am still so thankful for the owner to let me do this. It helped us a lot to be known in the city since different people from the other cities are going here to buy this. Whenever they said that they came from a different city, I always told them that they could visit our website to place an order and deliver it door to door, which is more hassle-free that is also why we drive a lot of traffic in our websites.
While I was waiting for customers, I received a message from carlon.
[Who organized the list of orders with their address? I delivered some of the orders for today, and they message me that it's different from what they ordered. They are disappointed. It was so hot to bike today. I'm exhausted.]
I called Julia right away and asked if she was the one who did that, but she told me it was Austin.
[The list of orders here is wrong. What should I do? reply asap]
So I called Carlon to deliver it still but returned their payment and apologized. Poor carlon, he bikes all the way even though it was too hot. I think it's time we should hire a delivery guy.
After almost two hours of delivering the orders, Carlon message me that it was all okay now. I let out a deep sigh.
Julia was furious with Austin since he was the one who did that, but we can't do anything now.
JULIA'S PLACE
"Someone ordered a cinnamon roll," Julia excitedly said. Her mom was sitting behind us and was smiling.
"Can you do it without my guide?" she asked us.
"Of course, we can make it," Julia proudly said.
We started making the dough, and it took us almost two hours to prepare since the dough needed to rise two times.
The smell of cinnamon was all over the house. It smells so delicious. I did the cream cheese frosting for the top of the cinnamon. Julia's mom was back in the living room to watch a movie, the reason why no one was telling us if what we were doing was correct or wrong.
The dough is now in the oven, but we noticed something while baking it. It spread too much.
"Oh no! It's a fail that shouldn't have spread too much," Julia said.
"We can't sell it. It's not the best quality," I said.
"Mom!" Julia shouted. Her mom came to us, wondering why Julia screamed.
"What happened?" she asked, then went to the oven to look at the cinnamon. "I thought you could do it alone," she laughed at us. "Starting now, I'll make the cinnamon roll whenever someone ordered," she said.
We were so happy that she would help us with this business. Very grateful for her.
AT HOME
I am getting ready to sleep now since I went home early tonight. My phone rang and saw Mark calling.
"Hello?" I answered the phone.
"Annyeong, Cara! How was your date - I mean your day" he laughed.
"You set me up with your cousin," I laughed, "but it was great, I had fun," said.
"Really? I'm glad to hear that. He had a great time too, that's what he said to me, so is there a second time?" he asked.
"Maybe, if I'm not busy with our business and work."
"He changed a lot, right?" he asked.
"He did, but it was a good changed."
"I think he still likes you. It would be great if you'd date him," He chuckled.
You want me to date too much, but you don't need to worry I'll get there too. I'm not in a rush, okay?"
"Yeah. you're not in a rush, but we are," he laughed.
"We're still young, we're just in college. We'll get there soon."
"Sorry, Cara. I was too excited if ever you'll date David. For the past years, after her ex-girlfriend dies, he seems excited whenever I mentioned you to him," he said.
"His ex died? Really? I didn't know about that. What happened?" I asked curiously.
"A car accident. Good thing he survived."
"Why didn't you tell me about this?"
"I did. It happened days after graduation from high school. He was 2nd-year college at that time."
"Oh! Maybe I forgot. I felt sorry for him, but is he okay now?" I asked him again.
"Yes. He's okay now, but I'm hoping you two get alone but I'm not forcing you okay?"
"Okay, for now, all I can do for him is to be a good friend,"
"I'm okay with that, sorry if I sound like I wanted you to date him so bad. But no pressure, okay?" he laughed,
"I understand, anyway goodnight, mark. I have to wake up early tomorrow. Thanks for calling me," Mark also said goodbye to me. I didn't remember about that incident that happened to David. I hope he's really doing well. As I said, all I can offer to him now is by being a good friend. As you see, I am in love with someone.
I wonder if Austin is doing well today.
