Even in her sleep, Eryna’s eyebrows were not resting, they had formed into a frown. She had gotten weaker, her once long and wavy hair had been once more removed, and instead, she was covering her head with a rainbow-colored woolen cap.
She felt cold even in the warm room and under the blanket. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at the ceiling with an empty eye.
She missed the warmth of Micah’s embrace, and how the pain had vanished instantly. Eryna shrugged her head and tried to let go of that feeling but it kept on sticking in her head. The thoughts of Micah had taken over her head after Grayson told her that they were applying for a divorce. Eryna never had a feeling that She and Micah were going to part. For some reason, her brain never showed a possibility but now that she had finally realized that marriage was only a plaything, she felt a sharp sting in her chest. Eryna once again jerked off the feeling as she kept in feeling guilty.
“Stop it! It was always Simba for you, stop thinking,” Eryna closed her eyes again and tried to forget everything that had happened like a dream.
Someone came into the room, Eryna didn’t open her eyes because it could have been the nurse that had come to check on her, but the person walked in closer to her bedside and stood there, Eryna could feel the stare on her face that made her uncomfortable, so she slowly opens her eyes. What she saw surprised her, it was Ayden who was standing not very far away from her.
“Sigh! It’s you?” She breathed out tiredly.
“Why? Are you disappointed? Were you waiting for someone else?” He spoke with a smirk.
“No—have a seat,” Eryna pushed herself up, Ayden gave her a hand and helped her sit up.
Eryna was lighter than the last time he had lifted her, he could feel that she had lost a lot of weight. His eyes were filled with sympathy.
“What happened to you all of a sudden? Why are you like this?” His wet eyes stared at her.
“Don’t ask! It is a very long story,” Eryna replied.
Ayden strokes her hand lightly as he stares at her, “Brother doesn’t know! He thinks you left him,” Ayden slowly spoke.
“I did! I did leave him,” Eryna replied with a stoic face.
“Aren’t you going back?” He asked.
“What for? We were forced to be together! After all, that’s what he wanted from the first day we got married.” Eryna looked away for a while.
“Do you not want to go back? Brother is waiting for you,” Ayden spoke lightly.
Eryna swiftly looked in Ayden’s direction with an odd glint in her eyes but that suddenly disappeared as she blinked.
“I don’t know! I don’t know what will happen after this! I have no idea how long I have left— So I have not planned anything,”
Eryna spoke.
“Do you? Do you like Micah?” Aden got straight to the point. This caught Eryna by surprise.
“I had a husband that I loved! I haven’t thought of loving again after he died,” Eryna’s voice was stern and she rested her head across the wall and closed her eyes.
“Love is not planned! Micah too didn’t plan to love you, but now look at him, he is acting like a Romeo all day long,” Ayden replied.
Eryna’s gaze shifted to him and her at red ta him with disbelief.

The door opened again and Hunter walked in. He looked at Eryna and then at Ayden,
“So he found out too? Well, that’s okay, it’s not like we have done something wrong.” Hunter stepped in closer.
“So what are you here for?” He asked Ayden.
“Nothing! I was here to see how she is doing, and by the looks of it, I think she isn’t doing well,” he replied while still looking at Eryna. “I will visit you again, I hope you don’t mind,” he gave a light smile and walked out of the room.
“What was he saying?” Hunter asked.
“Nothing, just talking this and that,” she replied. “You say, do you have some good news for me?” Eryna asked in a demanding tone.
“Yeah! Your design has made a huge stir—once again!” He grinned,
“I wasn’t asking about the idiot,” Eryna threw an apple at him that was lying beside her on the table.
“Oh! You mean what did the doctors say?” Hunter’s face darkened a bit but he breathed in and spoke, “they said your condition is improving,” his lips curled into a light smile.
Eryna didn’t answer at first and looked at him with a deep gaze, and then she parted her lips again, “Stop lying, tell me the truth,”
Hunter looked away and chuckled sadly, “Why would I be lying to you?” He gulped in his saliva and then spoke, “I told you what the doctors said, after a small surgery you will be good to go,” he added.
Eryna broke into a laugh, a very sad laugh. “By the small surgery, do you mean something huge and painful?” Her face still had a smile.
“Eryna!!!” Like a small child, Hunter stopped his feet against the floor,
“It’s okay, tell me.” She spoke.
Hunter gave out a long tired sigh and spoke. “Chemotherapy isn’t working efficiently for you, the doctors are thinking of Total Pancreatectomy, they have to remove your pancreas,” Hunter replied looking downwards.
“Hah! I thought it was something big, you scared me,” Eryna purposefully tried to lighten the tense air around them.
Hunter’s eyebrows sank and he looked at her with puppy eyes, “Stop smiling!!”
“What if I say no,” Eryna showed him her teeth even more.
Hunter pouted and hugged her tightly, “Once your surgery is over and you have recovered all of us will go on a long vacation, let’s make a lot of memories.”
“Okay! And I will eat a lot of ice cream too,” Eryna muttered.
