The Opposite of Safety
The room was deafeningly quiet. Blue sat down in his chair, depressed. The two unknown swordsmen were equally anxious about Domei and Blue. They both stared at Kingston, who was equally mute.
After a few minutes, he stands and turns around, approaching the door with the intention of departing early. He stretches his neck and prepares to leave the room without smiling or saying farewell. The swordsman in front of the door moved aside to make way for him.
Toka suddenly sat up in her chair, drawing the attention of the two swordsmen. Kingston turned around to look at her after hearing her chair. He notices her glancing out a window to the left. A abrupt shake on the ground caused Blue get out of his chair.
The unexpected shake lasted only a few seconds. Blue casts a peek at the two unknown swordsmen in the corner and at the door, where he notices three people looking at Toka on his side. When he turns to his right to look at Toka, he notices that both of her eyes are glowing.
Blue's eyes widen in surprise as Kingston turns around with serious eyes. He sighs as he looks at Blue, who is taken aback. He then turned to his right to gaze out the window, where he saw a large portion of the ground divided up in the air in the far distance.
"Blue... Who is that kid? Her eyes are glowing, is she from a clan?" an unknown swordsman in the corner of the room inquired. He asked in a serious tone as Kingston approached the window and heard a massive explosion.
"Hmm? Sounded in the front gate, Kingston. Fear not, a Hashira is there and a few assassins guarding it, a bunch of Shinobi. They won't get passed there," a swordsman remarked who was near the door. Blue and Kingston approached the door as Toka started to feel sleepy.
She gets out of her chair and climbs into Domei's bed, sleeping on his side. Her eyes appear to be heavy. She falls asleep as another tremor shakes the ground.
Kingston and Blue glanced in the far distance out the window, seeing the giant front gate of the west was thrown up into the air. That made both of their eyes widen in terror as they felt fear for the first time in the West Nation.
"Katata Kiri! Alert the others! The front gate has been destroyed! Make sure the other heads are safe! Get them to the underground bunkers secretly and have the village locked down! I want every detail as soon as possible!" Kingston exclaimed, turning to his right to see the swordsman in the corner of the room. He was given the name Katata Kiri. He nodded, bowed, and then vanished into thin air. Kingston began to sweat as he looked back in the distance through the window and noticed the massive front gate of their village had begun to fall.
"The nation... It's under attack, Kingston. I'm sorry, but I have no choice but to stay here. Yet I will fight if things get out of hand. Good luck, Kingston. And fear not, two Shadow Guard swordsmen are in your shadow, they'll be guarding you, meaning you can walk outside of this hospital freely. Be careful," Blue stated in a low sad voice as he sighs. He shook his head and took a deep breath as he noticed gigantic trees being thrown into the air in the far distance.
Out of nowhere, there was a shockwave and loud explosion that destroyed a portion of the wall in the far distance near the gate. They were pushed back a little inside the room as Kingston stared out of the window to look at the destroyed front wall that was supposed to be connected to the gate that had been destroyed.
"I'll deploy more men," Kingston said as he moved to his right and approached the door. As he became more upset, he began to clench his fists. Blue abruptly went to his right and grabbed Kingston's left shoulder with his right hand. He then pulled him back towards him.
Kingston was startled when he heard a noise. He looks to his left after being grabbed and sees a wall with a chair pierced through it. That made both of their eyes widen as the two Shadow Guard Hashiras, appeared at his side, on guard and deadly serious.
It was about to hit Kingston in the face when, suddenly, Blue drew his sword and cut the chair into countless pieces. He then sat on the ground but immediately stood. He then looked out the window and glanced in the distance, seeing a Glitch Mob standing on top of a roof staring at him.
"A glitch mob?" Blue wondered, looking out the window and seeing the glitch mob standing on top of a roof. He notices a hole beside him on the roof he's standing on. Blue's demeanor shifted as he waved his sword to his right side.
"Step back, lead," a Shadow Guard Hashira stated beside him. He didn't listen but proceeded near the destroyed wall. Kingston's eyes were showing hatred and anger combined with kindness. He was uneasy as he punched a portion of the wall with his right hand and destroyed it completely.
"I'll take care of this. Wood Style! Rising Roots!" Kingston exclaimed as he aimed his left hand toward the Glitch mob in the distance and suddenly the roof he was standing on started shaking. He was standing on top of a two-story house.
Suddenly, a giant root emerges underneath the Glitch mob. It pierced through the roof and grabbed both of his feet and slowly covered his entire body. The Shadow Guard Hashira on his side, vanished and was suddenly on the side of the Glitch mob in the distance.
Kingston kneeled on the ground catching his breath, holding his left tightly with his right hand. He showed a red fist and a sweating face. He catches his breath while kneeling on the ground.
"I thought he could do wood release, but instead he did the Wood Style Rising Roots, which I'm sure took a ton of Chakra from him. It's impressive for his old age," Blue pondered as he heard Domei coughing at the bed, prompting him to turn around.
He sees Domei opening his eyes and Toka laying on the bed beside him asleep. Domei was surprised to see Toka hugging him while sleeping on the bed. Blood started dripping on the side of the mouth of Domei as he tries to sit up on the bed.
"Domei!" Blue shouted his name as he withdrew his sword back into its sheath. He helped Domei sit up. He breathed at ease as Toka also woke up unexpectedly. All of a sudden, the ceiling started to get massive cracks. That made them all glance at the Shadow Guard Hashira, who drew his sword while looking up.
"The village has been infiltrated. We must order an immediate evacuation, or we will pay the price," the Shadow Guard Hashira said, as Kingston sighed in exasperation. As the Shadow Guard Hashira on the side of Kingston vanished, Blue sensed someone on their roof.
The other Shadow Guard Hashira, that was on the roof outside, was back at his side. The glitch mob was decapitated and the giant roots started to disappear. The whole two-story house collapsed as Kingston showed sad eyes hoping there were no people that died inside the house.
"Alert the other shinobis around the nation. Make sure there are fewer casualties. We can't afford to lose this one, the North Wind is already gone..." Kingston told the Shadow Guard Hashira by his side. He watches him nod, bow, and then vanish into thin air. Kingston approached Blue and Domei, worried.
"Domei, can you walk? If you can, you three need to follow me right away! It's not safe out here. It's too dangerous even for that kid. And one more thing is that I can't afford to lose two of you and Domei. We have something to talk about. It's about your brother," Kingston stated menacingly at the end, as he turned to his left and approached the door.
Blue helped him stand and they both followed Kingston from behind. Toka followed them from behind as they remained silent. As soon as Blue reaches the door with Kingston and Domei, he turns his head to the left to see Toka with them. That made him feel at ease as they proceeded. They leave the room as the other Shadow Guard Hashira, on the roof, is holding a Glitch mob in the neck and choking him.
"What brought you here, specifically? You're a Glitch Mob, yet you beg for your life. You take people's lives, and you ask me to forgive you? Please, is this some kind of joke?" the unknown Shadow Guard Hashira questioned menacingly, glaring at the glitch mob's eyes with killing intent.
The Glitch mob could barely move and both of his arms were slashed. The Glitch mob can speak but he doesn't want to. That made the unknown Guard Hashira mad and choked him even more. The Glitch mob's neck was slowly becoming small as the unknown Hashira saw his eyes suddenly start glowing.
That made him snap his neck and the Glitch mob fell to the ground dead. The Glitch mob lit up very brightly and suddenly exploded. Before it explodes, he manages to teleport next to Kingston's side as they walk down the stairs of the building. The other glitch mob that was decapitated appeared to be still alive and intact.
He showed up on the ground, menacingly clutching his glitching blade. Numerous civilians were perplexed by him, and a toddler with its mother was afraid. There were no swordsmen in sight, but a bunch of unknowns was heading their way.
At the front gate of the village. The unknown Hashira of the west village was in a clash against powerful beings. The unknown Hashira was fighting countless glitch mobs and dark mobs at the same time, left and right alone.
Nonetheless, he appeared unharmed. He was a one-man army, no joke. He had already fought innumerable hordes while the west village's broken damaged gate stood behind him. A massive gate landed on the ground, utterly shattering it, while flying rocks were scattered everywhere.
It didn't frighten the unknown Hashira who stood menacingly against a thousand dark mobs and Glitch mobs in front of him in the forest. He was holding his glowing sword in his right hand. His eyes were dead serious and his enemies had chills in their spines.
In front of the hospital. Fudo Toka was holding Blue's kimono with both of her hands while walking. Kingston walked along a path while countless civilians cleared his path for him to walk peacefully with the others. The unknown Shadow Guard Hashira, on his side, has vanished as suddenly, they see a group of swordsmen in the distance waving at them.
Kingston raised his right hand and was about to wave at them and smiled when all of a sudden countless glitch mobs appeared and stabbed the group of swordsmen from behind, killing all of them. A few civilians were also killed as Kingston came to a halt with his eyes widened in terror.
"Th-Those are...special swordsmen? How can that be?!" Domei thought furiously as he grunted while Blue helped him stand straight. Toka was hiding right behind them both as Kingston was right in front of them both.
"Kingston... Those glitch mobs are dangerous. I suggest we release and give orders immediately to the nearest clan inside our village to solve this one, or we'll be all wiped out. We don't know their numbers, which puts the people in this village in danger," a Shadow Guard Hashira stated beside him. He casts a peek to the glitch mobs staring at them in front of the fallen swordsmen on the ground.
"We need to order code alpha as soon as possible at the Capital. That should be enough... Every clan inside this village should be alarmed that an attack is going on. Let's head back to the capital fast!" Kingston exclaimed while making an angry face.
He began walking as two Shadow Guard Hashiras appeared out of nowhere in front of him. They both draw their swords at the same time while making a different sensation in their surroundings. All of a sudden behind them, someone grabbed Toka's leg, making her look down.
Blue trailed them from behind, coming to a halt when he noticed Toka wasn't walking. When he turned around, he saw a massive dark root clutching her right leg. That caused his eyes widen in dread, just as Domei's eyes did.
"Toka!" Blue shouted as he let go of Domei, who managed to stand but was unable to move fast. One of the unknown Shadow Guard Hashira, turns around the same as Kingston to see what was happening. The unknown Hashira's eyes widen when he sees a giant dark root grabbing her leg down to the ground even more.Download Novelah App
