Chapter 46 Increasing my Boundary
Lexa's POV
We came out of the restaurant, in big smiles. He was smiling the most. I tried my best not to free or open myself with him but those two hours showed a different side of his.
The better side I thought he never had.
Liam was born and created an angel. He told me many tales about heaven that made even me want to go there.
He said that Angels grew like children on earth. They were taught the ways and traditions, and their behaviours would determine what category of angels they would fall into.
Fierce angels became warriors and guardians of heaven, ready to fight at every instance of their life. Super-curious angels with a detective instinct were given missions to do on earth that had to do with mystery.
God did know everything but sometimes sin had to make him look away. Smart angels were sent to earth to uncover things or retrieve things, anything that was under the command of God, they also fixed things.
Most angels became guardian angels for people, good or bad, but when the bad people became evil the angels would be removed and replaced with demons. There were also some angels that had extraordinary love for humans, like Jesus did, those became protector angels.
But protector angels were rare. They would be sent to earth to save specific people from danger they knew was coming. They didn't just save anyone, but those that were worthy of it and still had something to accomplish on earth.
Liam went on mentioning categories of angels and how wonderful each of them were. I asked many questions about heaven but he didn't give me much details, he said if I knew too much, it would kill me.
He also talked about some angels that never grew. Those angels became children's friends, imaginary friends. Humans didn't know, especially adults, that imaginary friends weren't just a pigment of their imagination.
They were actually angels.
I would have loved to know who Jesus really was but Liam replied like a typical person, 'He's the son of God.'
Surprisingly, he talked so much that I barely said anything at our dinner. Though most times, he was staring at me like I was a jewel.
I realised that Rica was right, Liam was a really nice person, a good angel.
Of course we'd be the perfect match since I seemed to be somehow happy with him but... There was a hole in my heart. Liam could never fill that hole.
"Thank you for coming, Alexandra. I thought you would not come."
'So did I,' I said in my mind but I was pretty sure he heard it.
"It was a pleasure. I'm glad I came."
He smiled, a heart warming smile. "Should I escort you home?"
I shook my head. "No, I'll be alright. And you can call me Alexa or Lexa."
He looked away and thought about it for a second. "Alexa will do."
"Goodnight Liam. I will see you... later."
"Tomorrow will be nice."
I didn't want it to be a daily thing. But what could I say.
"Sure."
"Goodnight Alexa."
I was the first to turn away and walk, when I turned back I found him staring at me. I had to admit, it was getting a bit creepy. I looked away and when I looked back to check on him, he was gone.
I had to start getting the hang of my powers. I wanted to know how to teleport as well but all I could do now was wait.
I sighed and turned to the road, looking for a cab.
Liam's POV
"I love her. She's amazing."
I was pacing round the room like a psycho. Angels were not meant to feel romantic love, only love of loyalty to God and to humans. But I was having alien feelings for Alexandra and it was causing me to malfunction like a wet robot.
I couldn't have her. Angels were not meant to love angels, it was an abomination. I couldn't even if I wanted to. It was a boundary we couldn't cross.
Those two hours with her mesmerized me. She was ravishing. I wondered how I didn't see it before. She looked even more gorgeous that night. I had never seen someone dress so simple and yet look so amazing.
I understood why the devil wanted her. I understood why he craved for her like gin. She was driving me out of my boundary, pushing me till I hit the wall.
'I love her. She's amazing...' I repeated in my mind.
"That is why you must have her." I stopped when I heard Rica's voice.
"I must but I cannot."
She scoffed. "Who says so?!"
"It is against the law of nature. A boundary of us angels have been made and we cannot move past it."
Rica rolled her eyes, looking at me like I was some confused kid. "You don't understand, do you?"
I turned to her, sharply. "What do I not understand?" She kept quiet and moved to the wall of the building. She divided the wall into two, except one half of the divided wall was bigger than the other. "What is this? I have come to you to tell me how to get Alexandra and you draw?"
I sounded angry and I was surprised that it was even possible. I was shifting, rebelling... but I couldn't control it. Alexandra was all I could think of.
"You see this small space, it is the boundary you're kept in. And you see this other bigger side, it is the boundary of the other side."
For some reason, I understood what Rica was saying and I got scared of it.
"Speak clearly."
"You have to go to the other side Liam, if you want Alexa."
I shook like the first time I did when she mentioned it. Transform to a demon? I knew it was an option but it had always been at the back of my mind. I never thought it would come up.
"There must be another way."
Rica moved to me and placed her left hand on my shoulder, looking me in the eye. "There is no other way Liam, the ball is in your court. Play it."
She took some steps back and see what I would do and how I'd react.
"I've served the Lord for years, he's my master. I cannot forsake him."
Rica sighed. She knew it was easier to convince a demon than an angel. "The serpent gave Eve the forbidden fruit, do you know why?" I stared at her, wondering where she was taking the discussion too. "Because he wanted her to see. They were blinded, they couldn't see."
"The Lord did that for a reason."
She rolled her eyes again. "Not only to see, but to increase their boundary. They would have been kept in that garden all their life if they didn't make their choice." Rica had no more tricks up her sleeve so she turned away. "Take Alexa before Elliot gets her back. As I said before, the ball is in your court, play it."
She opened a portal and stepped into it, vanishing.
I looked at the line she had drawn. I was debating in my mind what to do. I knew He was watching me from above, waiting for my decision.
I closed my eyes and thought about Alexandra. The sight of her being near Elliot or any other being, outraged me.
I cleaned the line on my side and increased its size. To me I was not becoming a demon. I was only increasing my boundary.
***
The greatest power any being possesses is the power of choice. Once that is taken from a being, it becomes weak. It feels controlled and inferior to those around it.
God gave humans this greatest power. But He didn't limit it to humans alone.
Perhaps, it was a wrong decision but who are we to question Him. Choice is Life and when choices are taken, so is Life.
I looked at the coal-black door I was about to open. I was in the place between the underworld and earth. I was dressed in black, a colour that made my skin itch like poison ivy.
I had to make Alexa mine at all cost, I couldn't let him have her. I was ready to take anyone out if they ever tried. I was hesitant.
Demons are never born, they are either created, transformed or sent from earth as higher deadlings. I felt no fear when I walked closer to the gate-like door.
The desire drove me. I thought of her as I took every step, I could die for her. I would do anything she asked of me because in those two hours, she had taken over my body and soul.
My innocent angelic mind was filled with lustful desires of her with me. I could only think of all the things I wanted to do with her.
I placed my two hands on each side of the black plain tall doors that were supported by nothing but air and they opened, accepting me. I could see nothing inside but only what you would see by looking through a hole.
The door was like a simple frame standing in a single place but when I entered, I saw the hidden truth of it.
Unlike heaven that was warm-friendly, it was hot in there. To my surprise I could cope well with the heat. Maybe it was my destiny to come to this side.
Then I forgot, angels don't have destinies.
Fire stands floated on crystal-clear water. There was a black smooth pathway acting like a bridge to a 50-step stairway. I walked through the slippery path till I reached the stairwell.
I climbed each of the steps, with only her in my mind. With every step, I felt like turning back and running away but she pulled me through. After fifty times of having the same emotions, I reached my final destination.
There was a throne with a pale white-skinned demon on it. Two demons sat beside him on smaller sized thrones, one was white and the other was black.
They had distinct looks and uniqueness but the one in the middle was the master. It was evident from what he wore, the way he sat and how he looked... power was written all over him.
But I could see uncertainty in his eyes. He feared losing the power. But he also feared giving it back.
"Liam Javeline, a missionary angel of the good realm. Born 150 years ago and has served faithfully for 120 years. No evil records and no failed missions..." He paused before saying the next two words. "...except one." The white demon beside the king read out and closed the scroll, throwing it into fire.
The black demon stood up. He had many eye-soring tattoos on his skin. He was bald and one of his eyes was missing.
He walked up to me, eyeing me from head to toe and walked around me like he was assessing a prostitute to sleep with.
He turned away and returned to his seat on the minor throne. "I smell no fear, it is covered up by lust for someone already taken. He has contemplated over this for a long time and came to this decision. He wants something and this was his only option to get it," the demon said in a deep thunderous tone.
They waited, and so did I, for the King to speak. It was not everyday angels transformed to demons. The last time it happened was five years ago.
Having an angel turned demon was a good thing for them because ordinary angels were generally smarter and more powerful than ordinary demons of the same level.
Higher levels of demons were a different thing.
The King stood up and I recognised him. It was Andras. I met him sometime ago but I was surprised he was sitting on the throne fully.
He was just the deputy, not the King. Wasn't Elliot still the supreme devil? For a reason, I was glad it wasn't Elliot on the throne.
"Daemon, Bradga, leave at once!" The two stood and vanished into air, leaving only the two of us. He looked at me and I could see a deal sparkling in his eyes. "We want the same thing, Javeline."
"I want Alexandra."
"As do I." I was confused but he straightened my knots of doubts out. "I have called for a challenge between Elliot and I, training would not be sufficient alone. If you can get me something, I would give you what you want... and more."
I was suspicious but Andras was on the better side here. "What do you want?"
"Kidnap Alexandra and bring her to me. She is his weakness and he will fall to my knees when I have her and I will kill him. I will make her love you by all means and then you can have her."
"Why can you not send your demons to kidnap her?" Liam would not even let them try that, he'd kill each and every demon off.
"Demons cannot harm the King's mate... but you can." It was obvious that Andras had been waiting for me. I kept quiet, thinking about what he said. "You will have Alexandra sooner than expected if you let me handle it and I will make you a demon. I know very well what you want."
I hadn't moved from the position since I arrived. I wasn't planning on either cause I was caught up in the moment.
"Deal!" I couldn't resist. I wanted to have Alexa at all cost.
He smiled and placed his hand over my shoulder. For the first few seconds it burnt like acid but slowly, I was entering their world. Their side.
I was increasing my boundary.Download Novelah App
