Chapter 47 Killing two birds with one stone
Elliot's POV
The book was magnificent. Just as I imagined. Once I reached home I had already prepared myself to open it but I had to savour the moment of having the first magic book in the world.
It was created by the first ever sorcerer, Gwydion the first. He had created this book of spells for the future generations of sorcerers but sorcerers and sorceresses got extinct ever since the plague. A wizard, Alizon, translated the book in such a way that any magic-possessing creature would be able to use the book effectively.
The book was said to be lost after the first war of the Seven kingdoms. But it wasn't, Alizon hid it in Udhanba, one of the Seven kingdoms, in an abandoned temple and was killed right after that.
At least, that was what the story said. Years after years the world become what it is and Udhanba, a great large kingdom got divided and the temple where the book was previously located was in Cambodia.
For an unknown reason, I hesitated opening the book because as I touched it, I could feel power surging inside me. Great power.
I could use this book to take over this miserable world but times like those have passed. The world wasn't the same as it was. After the Halton war and their Queen died, Halton divided into three parts.
Slowly the world continued dividing, new things were being discovered, geniuses were coming up faster than imagined and here I was.
I was one of the few to witness the rapid change of the world. But still, I could try to take over. Nevertheless, Alexa was my priority. She was all I wanted. What was the world if she wasn't in it? Nothing, completely nothing.
I would have sent my demons to search for her but because of the challenge, the demons would only be loyal to the one that has ruled for at least 100 years.
I would use the book to find Alexa instead and get my kingdom back.
'Killing two birds with one stone?'
I ignored Lot and swiftly opened the book. Electric magic surged through me as I traced my finger across and down the pages. When I looked for the magic words, I found none.
To say, I was confused for a moment but a face emerged from the page I was on. It was as if the book had formed a face that had no eyes or mouth but dents of them in a sculpture-like figure that indicated they were there.
The face smiled at me and the book closed itself. The face popped on the cover of the book and looked at me. The book then floated in the air and eyed from head to toe with a stinky look.
"'Who dares open the Gem of Alizon?!"'
The words were loud and echoic, pretty dramatic. But I wasn't impressed.
"Elliot Vile, the devil of the twentieth century," I answered, getting an immediate reply.
"'What does the Devil seek in his Gem?"'
I tried to put together the words of what I wanted to do. "I want to win a challenge and find my lover. I need your words of power and magic to achieve my goals."
The book paused before laying itself on the table. "'What is the secret word to access the Gem?"'
"A password?"
"'The secret word!"' Wind blew as he said those words and the library shook.
"Yes, the secret word. Open sesame?"
The book entered feats of laughter on hearing my words. I wanted to be enraged but I didn't understand how to feel about a book laughing at me.
After what seemed like forever, the book stopped and laid back on the table. "'What is the secret word?"' the book said, with traces of laughter in its voice.
I didn't have time for the book's games. I had less than 30 hours to train and prepare myself for the challenge. The book wasn't helping matters.
I said the next thing that came to my mind. "Alizon. The gem of Alizon."
The book kept quiet then flipped its pages open. It stopped at one and words began to appear on them. Once that was done, a mist of glow came out from the book.
The glow of light stood on the ground and reshaped itself in colour and value to form a human figure. This human figure walked up to me, a golden staff in his hand, a golden phoenix resting peacefully on his shoulder and a long black-white beard flowing from his chin.
He wore a white coat that made him resemble a priest, his face and skin was smooth even though he looked like such an old man. He was tall, almost a giant.
Only Alizon had such a staff and such body features. It had to be him.
The man hesitated, watching my movements before he decided to talk. "'When I was killed, I hid myself in my gem. Waiting patiently for the perfect candidate to find the book. I could not leave when the book was left open to any body of the world to just take it from me."' His phoenix, Gahdon, flew from his shoulder and landed on the tallest shelf in the library, surveying its surroundings. I said nothing but let the ghost of a great wizard speak. "'I stayed with my gem but now I know, it's in the right hands. The devil? I would have never thought but with a heart of love like that of yours, I am free from my duty. One day, even you will be free from your duty."'
The wizard turned away and his glow disappeared, along with the glow of his faithful phoenix. In seconds, they wear both gone, forever. I wondered what he meant by 'even you will be free from your duty' but I wasn't very curious. I took the book and made a deep breath before opening its pages.
There were so many things I wanted to do as I looked at all the beautiful spells I'd love to try but I was searching for the one that would find my love.
And yes, I did. I placed my hand on the old brown hard sheet of paper and looked at the spell;
The Minion Spell
Say the words down below like singing your favourite music, and tiny minions will appear until you say stop and command them to fulfil your every bidding.
Salam miniona ak leka micasa suum da serfant
Under these words was a black and white picture of short creatures. They had long dropping ears, apparently soft mushy skin and wore rags for clothes. I needed someone to find Alexa for me and they would suffice.
Under the picture were more words.
Be warned for if you disown these faithful minions, they will as well disown you. If they fail in their mission, they will fail to breathe.
I mastered the words of the spell in my head and stepped back, mustering and preparing all the power inside me for some magic.
I raised my hands and waved them harmonically, like I was waving a magic wand. "Salam miniona ak leka micasa suum da serfant!"
The air around me came to a stop. The air joined themselves after draining from the room and formed a ball, then the ball became a massive tornado that could carry even me away.
I stepped back and slowly I could see figures forming inside. Then the tornado stopped and five weird creatures emerged from the unknown.
They had different looks though they were the same thing. From the way I looked at them, they also had varying characters. My demons could not help me find Alexa while I fought but the pink things would do.
I walked up to them, with authority. I needed them to know who was their master.
"I am Elliot Vile, the devil. The King of demons and the ruler of the underworld. From this second to the second you die, you must obey my every command and serve me."
They seem intimidated and frightened by my words, except for one that was laughing. He was the shortest but had the smoothest skin, obviously the youngest.
I picked the lightweight creature and squeezed its neck. The others shrieked in fear while the creature gasped for breath, trying his best to free himself from my grip.
"Please, master let him go. He is just but a child."
I looked at the creature I was strangling to death. "I am your master, is that clear?"
He nodded fiercely and I threw him to the floor. It held its neck and coughed loudly.
They were dressed in different colours of materials that were like patched up rags of clothes from the early centuries, they had big eyes and, short and fat toes and fingers. Their fingers were just like nubs on their hands.
"What does the master need from us?" They spoke in their distinct unpleasant and squeaky voices.
I placed a picture of a beautiful woman in the leader's hands, bending to their height before returning to my normal position.
"Find your master's lover. When you do, bring her here to me and do not lay a dirty finger of yours on her."
One from the back that was wearing an overall raised his shaky short finger and asked, "How do we find this damsel, master?" His voice was clearer than the others and more sonorous.
"That is for you to find out. Go!"
My loud voice made them scramble, they ran helter skelter in unpredictable directions. After a minute of them bumping into each other and everything else, they vanished.
That was a problem solved but I hoped with all my heart that they would find her. I ached for just a touch or smell of hers. I couldn't wait to see her again.
I turned back to the book, now searching for new spells. Spells that would help me defeat an overconfident demon. With the book in my hands and the power of the demon king surging in me, even God, thoughtless of a demon, would find it difficult to get rid of me.
I stopped at a conquering spell, and waited to master it.

Liam's POV
I was shivering like a lost kid in winter. My own blood was burning me from inside like acid. My organs had stopped working and I felt heavier, like a dead person. My skin had lost its colour and became pale like an albino.
My golden hair was a darker golden brown and my blue eyes were in the darkest shade of blue. I hated white and only wore deeper colours.
I sat on the floor, using my new demon nails to scratch it continuously. Looking for ways to ease the discomfort I was feeling. I felt great, I felt powerful and I had wonderful control over my upgrade but it was a new feeling I didn't quite get.
Then no thought of her. I wanted her.
The desire to have her had increased by a thousand fold. I just wanted to grab her and bite my fangs into her neck. They itched terribly and I wanted to mark her badly.
I wanted to drag her by the hair, forcefully, and do unimaginable and pleasurable things to her.
"How do you feel, Liam?"
I staggered up and forced myself to Rica's front, giving her a smile I thought I would never be able to do. Smiling at a witch was the hardest to do when I was a demon.
"I feel... powerful. I feel awesome!" I exclaimed, my voice echoing in the building.
Rica moved her eyes around before placing them on me, then adjusted her purple coat. "You did the right thing, Liam."
I laughed in power. "I should have done this a long time ago. Being an angel is just slavery!"
Rica smiled and placed her hand on my shoulder, pointing out towards a window. "Now you are free. Your boundary is limitless. Isn't this what I was telling you about but you didn't believe me."
"Yes, I do," I said like a starved snake. "I would have remained a bloody angel if not for your interference. How can a demon ever repay a witch like you?" I turned to her, shining my teeth.
Rica nodded continuously walking away from me. "Make Lexa yours. Take her away from Elliot forever and love her with your life. That is the only way a demon like you can ever repay me."
I laughed out loudly, like a happy child. I crouched, placing my hands on the floor. The pain grew as I tried to release my new dark wings. I screamed as the wings popped out and my skin was quickly covered in darkness. A tail emerged from me and sharp claws and nails revealed themselves. I ran towards the open window, and flew out, mixing with the darkness of the night.
Rica laughed and clapped, walking further away into a portal. "This is going to be fun."Download Novelah App
