Ling Xiao's POV "Xia Na, I have something to tell you." "What is it?" She slightly nodded her head and waited for me to continue. "I have been practising to tell you this for many days. Please cooperate with me." She pressed her lips tightly, holding back her laugh while making an okay sign with her hand. "The thing is..." As soon as I began my proposal, her phone buzzed, cutting my words off. I shut my eyes out of irritation. She picked up the call, heading towards the balcony. I gasped. "It's okay, Ling Xiao. You can do it." I gathered my thoughts within minutes as she showed up and looked at me with pleaded eyes. "I'm so sorry, honey. I've got to go back to the office. There's some urgent work. I promise we'll continue our talk in the evening." She leaned inward and gave me a peck. I clenched my jaw, watching her leave. I vigorously picked up the fork and threw it into the salad. "I failed!" Little did I know the evening would take forever to come. .............................................. Author's POV A tall, handsome, rich-looking man stared at the flowers for hours. He was deep in thought while resting one elbow. Then the lady working there approached him. She cleared her throat, gaining his attention. "Sir, how can I help you?" "Oh, well, I want to buy flowers for a girl." "Can you describe her a little?" "Well, She is lively and beautiful." "Umm... In that case, I think you should go with sunflowers. They're a symbol of positivity and also a great choice for the woman you love." "Alright, I want to buy a Bouquet of Sunflowers." She carefully picked fresh sunflowers, made a beautiful bouquet out of them, and presented them to him. "There you go, sir." He stuck a note over the bouquet before paying. "Thank you." Putting his card back, he almost walked away when the lady called him. "Sir, you've forgotten your bouquet here." He turned back with a tiny grin on his lips. "I left it for the receiver. It's for the owner of this shop." As soon as he left from there, Tang Xue arrived shortly. With her usual soft smile, she greeted the part-timer. Undoubtedly, she told her about that man. "Ms. Tang, a man came and bought flowers from our shop. It's for you. He left a note as well." With her brows raised, she glanced at her in suspicion. "For me?" She took the note and read it. "I'm sorry and thank you." She chuckled at the sight of how the man didn't reveal his name or leave any clue as to his identity. "A mystery box, I see." The part-timer immediately found his name in the billing record and told her. "His name is Han Shuo." His name was enough to set her body on fire. She furiously grabbed the bouquet and left. ................................................. Holding the bouquet with one hand, she reached her old office. Xia Na asked upon seeing her, but cutting her words off, she asked, "Do you know where I can find Han Shuo?" "Oh, I think I saw him going to the rooftop. But what's wrong, Tang Xue?" Without paying attention to her worries, she headed towards the rooftop. Tang Xue's POV As I reached the top, I found him standing near the railing, resting his hands. He took a long sigh. Approaching him, I threw the bouquet on the floor, grabbing his attention. He looked down at those flowers with a heartbreaking look, but it was not enough for me to melt away. I was sure about my thoughts this time. Showing the firm determination in my voice, I asserted, "I'm not sure what you're trying to do, Mr. Han, but please stop right there." "I was just..." "I think I didn't make myself clear that day. If you are going to approach me without considering my feelings, please don't. I'll think of it as a mistake. But if you do it again, I'll not let it go easily." Gulping the pain before it showed in my voice, I walked away. ............................................ Ling Xiao's POV Hand in hand, we walked until we reached the middle of the famous Love Bridge. It had been almost three years since I tried to propose to her for the first time. I don't know how many more times I would have failed after that. Our work used to bind us, but not anymore. This time, neither a phone call nor anything else could stop me. "Xia Na." I slightly pulled her towards me. "Anything?" "It's something you should have come to know three years ago, but maybe time and this moment were made for today." I got down on one knee and held her hand, trying to show all my love to her with my eyes. "I still remember how, in our first meeting, you cleverly tried to take my sign. I knew then that something would happen between us. But I did not know that they would be some of the most beautiful moments of my life." Her eyes were getting teary, but she soon giggled over my joke. "You told me you were hard to get. But I didn't know the journey from boyfriend to proposal would be difficult. Still, I would like to get you after crossing that journey." I brought forward the hidden ring. While flashing a smile, I looked at her. "Will you marry me, Xia Na?" She covered her mouth from screaming with her other hand, and nodding her head, she answered, "I will." As I gently put the ring on her finger, she threw herself into my arms for a hug. I wrapped my arms around her waist, picking her up and spinning. There were no words to describe my happiness. It felt like I had finally won in life. All I ever asked in life was to be with her till my hair turned grey and I could finally witness our love growing together.
