CHAPTER 19

Vladimir's POV
"Kill her !?" I shouted. "Are you crazy?"
"You're asking." He stood up straight. "That's the easiest way I know."
"How is that easy?" I said annoyed. "You can't just kill someone you love. And, if I kill her, what will happen? " I shook my head. "Really, seriously, I don't know what to do. I don't know what is really happening. I don't even know who to listen to. You angels always have different stories to tell. Not even sure if you are lying."
"Just find Syne. Please, just find her." He disappeared after saying that though he whispered something that sent shivers to my spine.
I stood there staring at the painting. I do not know what to do. They're giving me a headache. Angels speak metaphorically that sometimes I really don't know what's real. Am I supposed to guess?
What? Could they explain it clearly?
I mean, I think I deserve some explanation after all these years. Why are they so complicated? It's even making it hard for me to trust them. I felt like what they're telling me isn't the things I'm supposed to know. They're just playing with me. I hate that I could not do something.
I put the painting in the center of my room then I left. I went to the council to look for my mother, and waited for minutes before I took her out of the meeting.
"Hey what's up?" she asked.
"I'm tired," I said. "I'm just really really tired, and I don't know what to do. I don't know." I complained like a child who just lost her favorite toy. "I just want to make things right, but I don't know if I can do what makes everything right."
Mom listened to everything I said. She didn't answer every question I have but she did listen to me and that's enough. I don't really expect she would know what to do because like she said, an angel is a divine creation of God. We are his creation too but we sprung out of evil.
"Would you like to summon an angel?" She said, "I can never tell you what to do because we don't know their rules but at least that would help."
"You don't know how to," I joked. "You are not a witch."
Mom laughed. "Maybe I am not a witch but it doesn't require much power. I believe you just have to pray. A human told me that before. Prayer is the best power God gives to humans when they are in need."
"Who? Who am I gonna pray to? What am I gonna pray for?"
"That, I can never tell."
I then went to the church and tried praying on my own, to Cassy specifically. I was waiting for her to appear just like before but no, it's been an hour yet she wasn't there in front of me even if I prayed harder than the last time.
I looked around, watched people pray because I might miss something. That's when I've seen something I never knew before. They prayed to different Gods, or Saints? I looked around the church, there are a lot of statues but it's not God, it had different names.
I looked above the ceiling and saw a painting of angels. Yeah, angels. That one looks like Uriel, and the rest of them must be archangels. Should I call the archangels? Will they be able to hear me?
It was too late though, because someone already heard me.
"I never thought vampires knew how to pray."
It was an angel I couldn't recognize. I just saw him now. So I stared at the ceiling to know who he -
"It's Gabriel," he introduced. He had that glow like other angels - though I've only seen two, Cassy and Uriel- but it wasn't ocean blue, so was his eyes. It was purple, like a lavender I've seen in the field centuries ago.
"I heard you calling out Syne so we figured out you don't really know where she is," he smiled, it's creepy. I can sense a strong power around him, stronger than Uriel. If he is stronger than Uriel, then the other brother, Michael, is much stronger. Yeah, I think so. After all, it was Michael who fought with Lucifer. I don't know if I would be happy seeing archangels in this lifetime.
"I didn't pray to you."
"You did not, but I heard you since this is my church. Have you not read the name of this church before you come in?"
That, damn! Yeah. St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish Church. I've read it on my way here but I don't know. How would I know about the names of the churches, that it's a patron of a town or what.
"Since you prayed here, I think I can use you."
He snapped his finger and slowly people started walking towards the door until only the two of us were left inside.
"We couldn't find Syne, Michael can't find Syne and he's getting mad, real mad," he sighed. "He thought of calling Lucifer to find Syne, well they are somehow close when we are kids, but that's trouble. You know big brother Lucifer. " Gabriel laughed. "Kidding aside, I held you as my prisoner."
"What the!" I felt the chain on my hands. When he waved his hand, I was tied to the chair and we were inside the tower of the church where the big church bell was placed. "Let me go! What are you doing?"
"Waiting for Syne. If she truly loves you, she wouldn't let you die in my hands."
"Ughhhhh!" I cried out when he touched his warm palm to me. I felt like burning, burning like hell. I tried using my power, but it just won't work.
"Yes, you pray! Pray to her because that is the only thing you can do against me. Your power won't work." I heard him laugh again. "Let her appear and save you."
I tried praying, I did pray to her. I prayed but she never came.
It was the first time I was so happy she didn't appear when I called her.
