CHAPTER 20

Vanna's POV
"Vlad is in danger and we don't even know how to save him! We don't even know where he is!" Van yelled, annoyed as he was talking to Via.
Earlier they had been arguing about what they should do. I called Mom to help me with these two because I was sure that they would take another step without a plan. I mean, it's just Van.
"Chill, okay? You know we can't afford to go to war against angels," Via replied.
"Yes, I know! But what do we do? It's Vlad, it's freaking Vladimir, our brother! " The glass was about to be shattered by the sheer force of his shout.
"How about Cassy, I mean maybe he won't leave Vlad alone? She saved her before, why not now?" Via hoped, if only Cassy could hear us she would hear the pity in Via's voice.
They fell silent after that. I also couldn't think of anything to say to them because I was still struggling to piece together the images that showed in my vision. I realized that no matter what we do we will not be able to defeat the angels. They will be able to erase our entire race if they want to.
We don't know how to fight them. What more to look for? We can't even reach or fly in the sky. Was there really one?
"But where is Cassy?" Via whispered weakly. "I really do like her but if she won't save Vlad, I guess," she sighed and she just chose not to pursue the plan.
"Let's summon an angel," Van suggested after a long silence.
"I don't know how to pray," Via said, shaking her head. "We don't pray, and are they even going to listen?"
I didn't realize they were looking at me. "I don't know, really. I don't know. Let's look for a church, with a tower and a bell."
That's all I thought to tell them because I saw something like that in my visions but nonsense because almost every church here has that.
I'm confused. All I can see is a meteor shower that I don't know when will happen or is it even connected to the meteor shower that will happen tomorrow.
Ughhh! The Ruin Owl told me that she always sees a woman in his visions. Walking down the dark alley, some of her visions too are places that no longer exist today. I can see a meteor shower in the present and the Fall Owl told me she can see fire burning the whole place, and blood, a place full of blood.
We did our best before to figure it out and only now do we realize that it doesn't concern the whole world, but the world of angels and heaven. It only means one thing, all the visions are for Cassy and my brother. The future, maybe they will die. One of them will die, or war? Just according to what I think but the meteor shower, it doesn't make sense? What's in the meteor shower?
It's been days since Vlad disappeared. We thought at first he was with Cassy until someone left a note on a porch saying they've taken our brother in exchange for Cassy. Up until now we still have no news with regards to him.
We've searched everywhere, asked everyone but still no one could tell us where he is. We tried calling for Cassy but nothing — nothing either. We no longer knew what we were going to do.
The next day we got a call from Stan saying that someone had seen Vlad before he disappeared. When they returned, they had a man with them.
Fermine, as they said.
"Why did you bring me here? I told you Cassy won't appear even if you take me as a hostage."
That's what I heard him say. He stared at me then he returned his disgusted look to my brothers.
"But at least you can tell us where they are," Via demanded.
"Look vampires, angels can create dimensions so even if I tell you where, you cannot enter their world."
"Then tell us how to summon an angel," Van said without hesitation.
"Chival Fear asked that before and I told him—" he stopped when he noticed we were surprised by what he said. How does he know Vlad's real name?
She sighed. "Fine, I am an angel, used to be an angel. I was your big brother's guardian angel before I became a fallen angel. So I know a lot of things. And summoning an angel?" he shook his head. "You can not. You don't have a Gemini Witch, or do you?"
Gemini Witch, no, no more. That coven was already dead years ago. Wait, Mira? Is she still alive?
"We don't have a Gemini Witch to do that, so how do we end this?" They all turned to me when I asked that. "I've been seeing this vision of mine but I can't interpret it, I mean maybe you can help."
I explained all the visions I had that I knew connected to their angels.
"C'mon it's easy, the visions of the past were telling you about what happened between Chival and Syne. Your brother was supposed to die, but Syne gave her blood to him, allowing him to see her, making Syne a fallen angel."
I don't know but I was pretty sure what he said was right. The Ruin told me it's blurred so he doesn't know who is in his visions.
"Meteor shower?"
He shook his head. "It's not. And the fire, blood? That must be hell."
"What do you mean by that?" Van asked, confused.
"The only way to end this is in your brother's hand."
"So, Vlad really needs to die."
At the same time we were distracted by our mother's arrival. "He really needs to die to make the afterlife work again, right?"
"Mom, what do you mean by that !?" Via asked loudly. "We are allowing those angels to kill our brother, your son!?"
"Well, correction vampires," Fermine waved his hand as if to say no. Yes, he does say no. Now I just stared at him as he stood up from our sofa.
At first glance you can tell he is really normal but if you look at him closely you will see the light surrounding him. It's not that bright and doesn't even shine consistently. It looks like a bulb that is about to burn out but still struggles to resist.
Is this really what happens to fallen angels? Besides, its light is no longer blue, it looks like it's mixed with black, or I can't figure out its color because it doesn't last long. But I'm sure I saw black stripes on his arm the moment he lifted his polo shirt.
I remember Cassy, will this also happen to her? We're not close, I mean I don't remember if we ever talk. If there was maybe before but knowing the possibility that this would happen to her seems like I want to ask if Vlad is deserving, is he or are we deserving for her to be like this?
She saved Vlad, not once, but I believe a lot of times. At first I thought that maybe it was really just nature for angels to save people, creatures but not anymore. For her to give her grace to Vlad, to save him. To do this, it is no longer just because he is an angel. To think, she is the angel of the afterlife, she collects souls and reincarnates people. I have been thinking of why.
Love? Is it love?
I don't know anything about love. I have never felt love since the day I was born into this world. Yes, I saw the love that my parents had for each other but I still can't explain the love that Vlad and Cassy have.
I've seen them a lot of times, exchanging glances, looking at each other when one was not paying attention. I've seen Vlad doing small things for Cassy like cooking. I've seen smiles and heard laughter from both of them.
I didn't feel the thrill in them but I knew, I don't know how I knew but they felt genuine. They felt so real to me. It was as if even though I couldn't explain I could feel the joy that they both had. If only Cassy is a vampire then things will not be complicated.
Love, maybe love.
But if it's love that they both have for each other, then it is so sad that love will never be right.
I've been thinking, how do we get back the love we deserve from a wrong time?
If we reincarnated, will we be able to get it back?
Will they be able to get it back?
"Chival needs to die as a human. Syne made it complicated when she saved him. Now the afterlife is in chaos. The archangels are mad, so they are doing everything to kill Chival, "said Fermine after explaining everything to them. "Syne should kill Chival in order for the afterlife to work again, and Syne being Syne doesn't want to kill him instead she wants to go to hell."
"Hell, is that even real?" Via asked, confused.
"Yeah, though we don't speak of it. And, it's not what I meant."
"No! We have to save our brother. He cannot die," Van impulsively said. "Mom, let us do something!"
"No, he needs to die," I said seriously.
"No!" Via shouted. "Where the hell is Cassy, she's not even helping us."
"Syne is not here because she's—" he stopped and slowly shook. "I can't believe they've done that."
We all looked up at the sky when he pointed that out. "That's the meteor shower you are talking about."
At first, it was really a thousand comets or meteors falling down from the sky. It was a beautiful sight to begin with, not until we looked closely at it.
We all gasped except for Fermine.
"What the fvck is that?" I whispered softly.
Fermine looked at me with a sad smile. "Angels... angels are falling."
"Why? Why are they falling? " Via hysterically asked.
