CHAPTER 21

Vladimir's POV
I wasn't sure of the exact time, but I heard the bell ring ten times, making me feel dizzy than I was before. It was a day of torture, or maybe it wasn't just a day. I think I have stayed at the tower for more than a day. I lost count of the time, it just flies so fast. I wonder if my family is looking for me or maybe they thought I was just playing around, looking for Cassy. Hopefully, so that they won't be involved.
My whole body is also very sore. I felt like dying. Funny, but Gabriel didn't even touch me to begin with yet I felt my whole body burning like hell. I just heard him flicking his hands a lot of times giving me pain, breaking my bones, and tearing my soul apart though I am not sure about having a soul, just metaphor.
It went and went until I got tired, and he got tired too, because of frustration. Cassy still didn't appear. Well, I like it that way. I don't want her to see me like this nor I don't want Gabriel hurting her.
"Damn Syne!" I heard him cursing. Though I cannot open my eyes, they're burning and all I can see is darkness. "Fine! I'm done playing with you. I'll kill him!"
As soon as he said that, I felt a series of needles sticking out of my neck which made me puked blood. I never felt pain yet I felt like I was about to lose all the blood. The needle went inside my body, and pinched every nerve I've got making me bathe from my own blood.
"Enough with that, Gabriel!"
I did hope it was Cassy but I was more than happy to hear Uriel's voice. I'm worrying about her but I know she can handle herself. It's harder if she's here, I don't know what they'll do to her.
"Brother, you're from a long way home," I heard Gabriel. I tried to open my eyes but it's still blurred.
"Are you really waging a war, Gabriel?"
"I am not waging a war brother. You know that ... "Even though I can't see Gabriel, I can feel the sarcasm in his voice. "Remember, it was Syne, it was all Syne's fault!!"
"Syne is trying to make things right. Why don't you just leave him alone? Why don't you just wait?"
"Wait? Hah!"
I screamed when Gabriel suddenly stabbed the knife in my side. I vomited blood. Although my wound healed quickly there was nothing wrong with the weapons he was carrying, in his power. What can I do against an angel?
"Uriel, can't you hear yourself? Is that because of your love for Syne that even if it's wrong, you will still defend him !? " I was deafened by the loudness of his shout, which was accompanied by the sound of a bell. My whole vision rotated as if I was going to vomit all the flesh of my body.
"I'm not him ---"
Gabriel interrupted what Uriel wanted to say. "I know you are smart, and you are smart enough to know that the only way to end this is to kill him!"
"You are also smart enough to know that the only person who should kill him is Syne," Uriel replied with conviction.
"I know, but I'm also sure you won't let Syne down, right? You won't let Syne do that thing in exchange for that man's life. I know how much you love Syne."
"W-what?" I whispered. "What will she do?" I said. "What will he do!?" I poured all the energy I had to see Uriel's reaction.
He shook his head. Even though my vision was not clear I could see how sad her face was.
"Oh, you don't know? You don't know what he will do just to keep you alive?" I heard Gabriel laugh. "How about I tell you, maybe you can convince him to kill you—"
"Stop that Gabriel, if Syne -"
"If Syne what? Let her come then. Let her come and protect her beloved vampire. " Gabriel hissed. "Oh, let me continue what I'm saying, -"
"Before you tell him the story, why don't you release his brothers?"
My full attention was focused on Uriel. Brother? He didn't mean Vanna, or Van? Or Via? Not them, no, not them... so aren't they me—
"Fvck !!" I have a hard time crying. "W-what did you do to them?"
"Oh, nothing yet but-" I heard the flip of his finger which caused my vision to brighten. Enough for me to clearly see Gabriel and his annoying smiles, as well as the sadness in Uriel's eyes.
"Michael," Gabriel laughed. "Oh-okay, Michael is so fucking mad!" he pointed to the sky. Gradually we witnessed the fall of thousands of meteors, or wait — it's not. I stared intently at the falling lights.
"Angels are falling," Uriel answered the question in my mind.
"Why are they falling?" I no longer know what's happening. "What—"
"Oh that, they're gonna bring Cassy to hell," Gabriel said like it's a normal thing.
"What !?" I shouted. "What do you mean by that? It is a metaphor!? "
I looked at Uriel. I waited for him to say no, for him to shake his head, for him to say Gabriel was just joking but no, the fall of all the angels in the sky was over I got no answer.
I don't know about hell. I don't know what's there or if that's true but based on what I've read it's not something that you should go for. And Cassy, no, she can't afford to go there. For me, just to save? No, she can't.
"Syne will either go to hell or kill you. She chose the former," said Uriel. "And by hell, it's not the hell you are thinking or the people know. It's just simply...I mean," Uriel took a deep breath and Gabriel continued.
"It means she will disappear as if she never existed at all." Gabriel looked at me. "I still don't know what Syne sees in you."
He shifted his gaze to Uriel. "Does it hurt, brother? Seeing the one you love sacrificing her life for the one she loves, and... " he looked at me seriously. "I don't know what makes you so worth it. Or, are you even worth it in exchange for her existence?"
I'm not. I answered quickly in my mind. No, I will never be worth it. I'm not even a good person to begin with. I don't even know why he saved me. I am grateful, so much grateful but fvck! What is the sense of me living when I will forget everything about her?
Wait, did she lie?
I remember her saying... You saved me by remembering every memory of me and not by dying!
Ugh! Sht! I was flattered in my mind. I no longer knew what I should do. I don't understand everything.
Argh! Every wound I received from Gabriel hurts more.
Cassy, where are you? Can you please tell me?
"Chival," I shuddered when I heard my name from Gabriel's mouth.
This is the first time I have heard my name again in another creature. He slowly approached me. I could feel his eyes on fire as he stared at me. I just closed my eyes but I felt the heat surrounding my body even more.
"You must be very proud for making one of the most powerful angels of heaven ... fall," Gabriel whispered.
"But if you aren't proud," It was the first time I heard Uriel's voice like a sweet lullaby. "Please save her." He knelt down in front of me before the light finally took him.
