Chapter 34

"I had to disturb aunty Tin to bring me to you and it took her a week to comply" he said just to let Juan know that she is not here voluntarily.
Juan looked at Tyndall who was so focused with her phone. He could see that she didn't want to be here.
"You shouldn't have done that. You should have told aunty Ria" he said.
"Aunty Ria is always coming home tired but aunty Tin doesn't" he replied.
"You should have then called me to come over" he smiled at him.
"Since you haven't been coming over, I guessed that you've been busy".
"So I'm the jobless one right?" Tyndall grumbled.
"Never meant that" he replied quickly and turned to Juan. "You've not visited for a while and that got me worried so I had to check".
Juan was moved by the boy's care. "That's so thoughtful of you" he said bracing his hair.
"I have to take my leave. Juan don't bring him home late" she announced with so much authority ringing in her voice.
"Why?" Clary asked with a frown.
"I have something to do" she replied.
"What a baloney! Were you not playing game before we came here?" He asked and she hushed him but he wouldn't comply. "You are just running away from uncle Juan. You think I won't get you" he mocked.
"Clary" she called raising her hand as if to hit him but she didn't. She just frowned.
"I don't know why some ladies don't like to mingle with the right men" he said looking at Tyndall to let her know he is referring to her.
Tyndall closed her eyes. She seems to be in the middle of a delima.
"Why am I the one to encounter this boy?" She asked inwards.
"You might be wrong Clary. She might be truely busy" he defended and glanced at Tyndall who wore an unappreciative look.
"She's not. She just hate to see you. The Bible says that we shouldn't hate" he said with vehemence. "I can't just understand why she doesn't get along with you. You are such a nice uncle" he added.
"Nice indeed" she murmured.
Tyndall didn't have a choice than to sit because she knew Clary will never relent on making her stay and that will draw more mocking look from Juan. She just decided to ignore the two and concentrate on her phone.
After the two chatted for a while, Clary faced her.
"Aunty Tin, please lend me your phone" he said with a pleading look.
"Why" she frowned.
"I remembered I need to calculate something ASAP(as soon as possible)" he replied quickly to show it's urgency.
"Use yours" she declined not trusting his words.
"Didn't come with it".
"Why can't....."
He cuts in. "Will you also complain about giving me your phone just to calculate?" He looked at Juan. "I think she hates me now because I brought her here" he said like he is sad.
Juan knew the little boy was up to something but he couldn't figure it out. Tyndall released a frustrated breath and bit her lower lip.
"Take" she gave him the phone.
Clary took it and smiled. "Got her didn't I?" He winked at Juan who almost burst into laughter.
Clary stood abruptly and took to his heels. Juan and Tyndall looked at him astonishly as he ran away.
"Did that boy just run away with my phone?" She asked herself unconsciously.
Juan gave her a smiling look and didn't reply since he knew the question wasn't for him.
Tyndall licked her lips when she saw Juan giving her a mocking look.
"Do you want me to go after him?" He asked softly.
Tyndall shook her head.
"I know the in and out of this place. It will be easy to find him" he insisted.
"No don't he'll be back" she replied dryly.
Juan smiled as he understood what the boy did. "What a sagacious little kid" he thought.
After so much pestering from Juan, Tyndall ordered something grudgingly. Despite the tantalizing aroma of the food, she didn't touch it. So also is Juan. She stared at the space while Juan looked at her.
"Why do you love staring?" She asked crudely when she had enough of his scrutiny.
"You are beautiful" he replied in a cool voice.
As she opened her mouth in shock, spit went the wrong way through her throat and she began to cough. Juan quickly offered her water.
"Didn't mean to shock you" he said smiling.
She looked at him and drank more water as if the water will flush out his words.
"You ain't eating" he said to her.
"Neither are you" she said crispy.
Juan chuckled. "If someone had told me to put my head ass stake that I'll be seated here with you, I would have stake it saying it will never happen" he said in a rich voice.
She pouted at his exaggeration. "It's Clary's handiwork"
"He's only trying to fix things since he realised you hate me too much" he said smiling with pressed lips.
"I don't hate you" she said almost a whisper.
She knew it will look like that since she slapped him the other day. She has been looking for an avenue to apologize but it seems Juan didn't even hold a grudge although he has been making sure to avoid her.
