Chapter 103

The kitchen was a home to all modern foods and drinks of assorted kinds. The kitchen that nearly housed everything they wanted and needed. The Irish potatoes, fresh swarming fish in the pond and lobsters. Then dried onions and meet, with Arabian garlic’s and Indian spices.
Mrs. Zack room was a world of woman made of its own. Formality of the room furnishing was very daunting. The old lady was using her money to purchase hundreds of designer goods. Without doubt, she was a luxury addict, with the best sunglasses, head tie, cloths, shoes and jewelry.
Mosi stood and strolled, looking, thinking and studying hard the whole house for a considerable time. There was nothing that did not catch his attention - ranging from the glorious old furniture and painting to the craft works and designs of art. The house was excellently acoustic to belong to a simple eyed Muslim.
His admiration soon waned and fades. Those elegant luxurious homes, luckily presided over by her own mother held no charm for him. No matter how well he admired it, he could never try to make it his own and it could never.
“We are here now carefully arranged. Any news of your brother Pius?” She asked to break the silence.
His eyes blazed in anger, but he tried and kept himself together.
“None” he replied in affirmation.
“I only had a telephone call talk with him. I tried to get a word from him, but it was not possible. I don’t know his reasons for the anger. But I do think as he promised that we would see sooner. Anyway, I also think that here would not be safe to discuss him. Pius problem is the type that requires tact, diplomacy and sincere negotiation”.
“But I have nothing anymore to negotiate with him. I cannot abide to that boy. A mere boy who claims to know all. He is so self- satisfied and selfish. For the whole years we spent abroad, he did not mind looking for mother; all he was out saying was mother did this and that. He is so intelligent, but yet could not have basic education, even of African standard. He should burn with the devil in hell. I don’t care anymore”.
“You know what to negotiate with him, as well as I know we know. Don’t pretend old boy”
“ He deserve no negotiation and forthwith, no negotiation”.
“Talk sensibly. Seeing mother or no seeing her should not be the problem now. Mother is young enough still to take care of herself. Don’t incite mother to bad feelings. After all she has never complained. As for you, you know hell and who goes in there with the devil. I am telling you that you are failing the whole thing. He knows what a hell he is asking. We need our legal home. We need to go back. We do not belong here. It does not run in our blood to be inherited by someone who did no cause out birth, to be step children. You know where you come from”.
“ This is Africa” shouted Mosi as he stood up and hit hard his hand on the table.
“Then what does that suppose to mean? I hope you are not insulting me”.
“You can call it anything. Let me make my self clear. The labor of our father shall not be in vain. The crash was purely not an accident. Political sabotage was ruled to it. The killers should definitely be called to book and the case that sentenced him at death revisited. I am now a trained lawyer. I am suing the government and whoever was involved. Arbitration over his estate or no arbitration should not follow now until the issue in the ruling of his case is made out. As a family we are old enough to keep the family name going”.
“Yet you have not answered my question. What do you say is the solution to the problem?”
“Ok mother let me put it straight with you. I think fundamentally that it is the neglect of Pius for many years, by not just the entire family, but by the nation and Mr. Ribadau himself who I know too well that contributed to our problem is his anger. You know him from birth, he could never lick back what he had vomited. That point only should stand out in anything that you want to do with him. We followed your suggestion because we were still too young to say no. It was not favorable to us. We are all witnesses to the impounding and sophistication of the family’s property and are in use by the people who constitutionally should not be so. No legal action was taken, but you dragged us to him. At this age we are not blind to note that we still remain neglected in terms of development designed for those who their father romanced presidential seat”
