Chapter 117

It was late for such reconciliation, but he holds the power. They tricks of his predecessor would soon be revealed and it had kept surfacing as events unfold. The merchants who hide under could come up anytime to ask for their own part in the allocation of contracts and shares, men who hold the chains of wealth and who financed him to the cloud of politics. He still owed them. They had save him the smoke of election that was conducted extravagantly.
Before the election, they cobbled tricks and cash together and later sold the fantancy to those of the political class who greedily lapped it up. With the agreement to sign for the sponsorship to power the new president, the economic wizards signed to control the countries sources of income, salted away the treasury bag by lapping up the bidding at every cost. Nearly everything was privatized to their bidding. The next was the outright selling of farms, reserves and national sources of cakes. In display nothing was in for the country.
Mr. president tenure as generally and constitutionally acknowledged would soon be at its end. It would strip automatically his immunity from prosecution as cases had been filed against him by individuals and corporate organizations. He knew they were too many to be dodged and the only option, he would be comfortable with was to take the new president on oath in the highest order which probably took place.
The new Mr. president must pay back unfailingly, but he was such a trick fellow, who knew how to dodge blame. When it all began, he had maintained strong neutrally to any contract to sign of his head and his future in political career. With these complain and excuses his master would go in with them to bail the situation out. He would sneak out at every appointment with them, which never would be denied him. He refused to sign anything presented to him. It was an uncommon deception and practical application of his area of study at the university in Greece.
Mr. president bowed to go. He had planned it prestige, living honorably amidst tears and selfless service with his men who were the only one that could only acknowledged.  He was a big trick who really preferred dying in the office to glamorously quitting, but was comfortable with keeping his boy that would provide him a protective cover. Judging by the outcome of the election, Mr. president was satisfied. He had given his political sagacity, which he employed to neutralize forces that attempted to frustrate his lifetime ambition of being the president of the republic. The political jungle was tough and stiff. The tyrannists into peace summit had succeeded in enlisting the names for the post and so their aims were something impossible, hence they retained the night flies, still buzzing around the red meat of power.
Soon after the exchange of baton, he worked hard informing his secret security guard of his strict instruction that no one was to enter the Tower and personal lodge uninvited.
It cleared the fear that lurked their mind and everything came as prophesied, that as soon as he gain power, he would increase inaccessibility to the big economic boys that his predecessors appointed to anoint him.
Such sudden change in the new president’s behavior made them to suspect themselves. He had planned going back from what they agreed on. His only baseful accusation was that he cleverly dumped corruption for sanity, secrecy to transparency and accountability. He was a quite man to his fingertips, and worked hard to be different from the era of his predecessors who usually held talks with all manners of people who had an unlimited access to the new house any hour, anyday.
The new president could talk only with few trusted ears outside the ruling party. His sense of humor was vigorous, his imagery graphic complete with a presence of mind rare for his class and age. There was no going back. A little flashback to the drama that saw him into power was long rehearsed in his absence. The deal to keep him to power seemed sealed and delivered. When there was no vacancy for the seat of the presidency in the ruling party and many aspired for it, men who seemed better than him he emerged finally at the primaries and it was a big blow to the pride of old politicians and a surprise to the entire land.
Suddenly, he emerged from nowhere to become the president and no more question or reshuffle would be entertained. Now Mr. Ribadau and few others who were on the hot list to be placed in their hierarchy. They had been short listed for it and toes were stepped on as others from minor parties were removed and not considered.
